Clearly, the liberal states pay the most federal taxes. It is analogous to compare the USA to the European Union. The wealthy European countries like France and Germany support the poor European countries like Ireland and Greece much the same way that NJ and NY support poor states like Mississippi and New Mexico.

 

Thank you. I also like to compare it to the "spoiled rich kid" syndrome like the kind you see on My Super Sweet Sixteen. Where the kid is bitching and moaning about how their parents are like, sooooo lame, as they're leaning on their brand new Mercedes they got for their birthday parked in the driveway of their McMansion.

 

You hear a lot of tough talk from states like Mississippi, New Mexico, etc. but the reality is, they're eating from the hands of NJ, NY, etc. and pretending to be cool in front of their friends and talk crap about their "lame" parents.

Not intending to be inflammatory, it's just simple mathematics. I've been trying to find the chart but all the ones I come up with are covered in political commentary and I don't do internet political debates Just have to google states that get more than they give in taxes.
