AK pistol to rifle...

Recommended Posts

So my buddy that lives in PA has a Champion (Draco) 5.56/.223 that he converted to a rifle... Fixed stock and a pinned muzzle device legal length. From what read, i can own this in NJ. But i know it says PISTOL on the receiver. Would that be an issue????

IMO, just because it says pistol on it, doesn't make it a pistol.

If it meets all requirements to be a legal rifle in NJ, it is obviously not a pistol.

16 inch barrel or

short barrel + PERMAMENT WELDED extension = 16 inches

then you are good.

this is the key... I would roll the dice only if it is permanent per ATF definition of permanent...

as long as that is the case.. then good to go... imo

Good to go... but since buying it as a rifle, I do not believe YOU can convert it to a pistol again, ever.

As the original owner of a pistol draco (PA), I could convert it to a rifle, and back again, all day long, thanks to new ATF rulings (applying Thompson contender to other guns, finally!)
