millsan1 3 Posted December 28, 2012 New shooter here. Just want to give my opinions on these two ranges, as I had the chance to shoot at both today. Rtsp Very nice clean facility. Safety video running on a loop. Well run range. Ammo was very pricey, but I brought so no impact on my day. Love the digital readout on the target moving system. Extremely crowded. Loved the place. Bullet Hole Small shop. Easy to Deal with. Very pleasant folks. No safety video but safety speech given at counter and by range officer. Fewer lanes. Place was also crowded but nowhere near the crowd of rtsp. I only had 50 rounds left from my visit to rtsp earlier but 9mm was $14, which is normal price for me, so I bought 3 boxes. Loved this place too. My impression is this, if you want to go to a nice, mellow night club, rtsp is the place. If you want to go to a groovy dive bar with friendly people, bullet hole is that. Bullet Hole is very local for me. I like dive bars. Pretty sure I will be there again. I know there is some animosity, by some on this board, towards Bullet Hole. I encountered friendly people and a good time shooting. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
tommy3rd 132 Posted December 28, 2012 when the bullet hole gets crowded (believe me, it does!), you'll be cursing yourself. there's a big open space behind you at rtsp that just doesn't exist in the bullet hole.
NJScott 15 Posted December 28, 2012 While the BH folks have never been openly-hostile any time I've been there, I think the OP hit the nail on the head with the night club/groovy dive bar analogy. If you're used to RTSP or Heritage Guild's indoor ranges then the crowded, dingy BH range is going to be an esoteric step-down. Abrasive people, who sometimes are the subject of grievances towards the BH--and even RSTP--on this board, don't bother me; I grew up with that attitude and display it sometimes myself, LOL. It's when range personnel are openly hostile or disrespectful that I get ticked-off. Thankfully, since I've gotten back into recreational shooting and owning firearms several years ago, those events have been almost non-existent. Being as the OP is based in Jersey City, I would hope he tries out the Bayonne PBA range once in a while.
Sell682 1 Posted December 28, 2012 I have a different analogy ... Want to impress a date go to RTSP... Want a quickie go to the Bullethole. Both are good ranges just one is much more spacious and modern. For any shooter, both will quench your thirst..
millsan1 3 Posted December 28, 2012 Just went back to BH and shot my AR. Got in just in time. Place got packed. Made a good deal on a new gun. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Once I did take a lady shooting and I decided to go to RTSP instead of BH because I thought RTSP came off as "nicer."
TheWombat 67 Posted December 29, 2012 Was at RTSP at 8am this morning. Continues to be a good range, definitely busier at the moment which I assume is due to Christmas vacation and people trying our their new toys. Plenty of handguns for sale in the gun cabinets. No ARs or AR lowers. TheWombat
