Blueskybob 12 Posted March 7, 2013 Went this week to Cabellas looking for supplies and they did not have what I needed and the rep was more interested in hawking 6 shooters then helping me, (to be fair they did have a good supply of powder and .50 rifle stuff) Upon a referral, I took a side trip to Darryl's and was not dissapointed! They had all I needed and more and were very helpful. 134 Canaan Grove Rd, Newmanstown, PA 17073 717-949-3157 If you use your GPS, do not be startled if you end up looking at a field. Just head up the road to the first house on the left. There will be a side road with a sign on it. Darryl's is the building behind the house. Oh, and bring biscuits for the dog on the counter! Smokin .50 1,907 Posted March 7, 2013 So what did you get? What do they specialize in? More info please! Have you ever been to Dixon's and how do the two compare? Dave
Blueskybob 12 Posted March 8, 2013 So what did you get? What do they specialize in? More info please! Have you ever been to Dixon's and how do the two compare? Dave Never been to Dixon's so no way to compare. I had just picked up a .44 BP and wanted to get the basics. Powder, balls, ball ram starter, nipple wrench, butter etc. Don't know what they specialize in, but in looking at the shelves, I think they are geared for local hunters. They had what I needed when Cabellas had nothing in .

Virtually everything you need for the black powder hobby, including clothes & candles. Dave

Cemeterys Gun Blob 165 Posted March 9, 2013 Being a real "noobie" not sure if this is a good price or not. GOEX FFFg 1 lb. 23.95 Über pricey.....Solomans has it for either 16 or 18 per pound. Which is just literally a filler more than if you had it shipped to you.

halbautomatisch 60 Posted March 10, 2013 Thanks for the info Cemeterys Gun Blob. But, remember I am a noobie tor BP Is Solomans a store-front or mail order? Got a link for them. Thanks! It's a store in Central Jersey with odd hours that's only open 3 days a week. They've been around forever and I don't think they know computers have been invented, so you not going to get a link. They don't even have an answering machine. Someone with better knowledge of their operations will fill you in more.

Smokin .50 1,907 Posted March 18, 2013 Anyone know what happened to Charlie Stone? Moved store to PA years ago--place was for sale months ago. Not sure if he's "still around". Quite a Character in his day!
Hare Trigger 0 Posted March 18, 2013 I was at his shop in PA a few years ago, but a friend went to see him two weeks ago and said his driveway was blocked and his MUZZLELOADERS sign was taken down.
