scope for henry .17 hmr

so i recently acquired the first my first gun that actually warrants some decent glass. i've never bought or really shot with a scope before and i have no clue where to begin. i'm not looking to spend more than $3-350. what power should i be looking at? i've shot this exact gun before it got it and the iron sites are dead on at 100 yds. i just feel the full potential of the .17 hmr round can't be reached without magnification.

i will not buy from those antigun a-holes but i will check them out from another vendor. it sucks too because i have a $100 giftcard from there too. is 3-9x the ideal magnification?

Not using a gift card is actually helping them. But I run 3-9 on my .17

I use a 4-14x40 Nikon on a Rem 700 .17 fireball

Works well for me killing groundhogs out to 200 yards, 46 Tally so far.
