New application process for permits

I just went to drop off application and $18 MO for some pistol permits and was told the whole process changed Feb 1, 2014 and she didn't have time to explain it then, but I could come back in an hour. She mentioned like a web based process. I searched state police site and found nothing. Anyone heard of this new process? Thanks

they will give you a packet with a website you go to. https://www.njportal.com/njsp/criminalrecords/

You will have to enter the Towns or NJSP ID number thats included in the packet, then you pay $20 instead of $18 and submit for the check online now.

Yes. Its $20. But if you get an $18 post office money order it costs almost $20 anyway. I guess that's how they came up with $20.

It's only for the Criminal Background Check portion... the P2P application/fee and mental health forms are the same as always.
