AMScott 3 Posted October 1, 2015 My Mom lives in NJ right down the road / same town..... She lives there alone after Dad passed..... On occasion I stay there in my old room..... Do NJ firearms law allow me to leave a gun at my Mom's ???? Are there certain conditions that need to be met to do this ???
Howard 538 Posted October 1, 2015 Draw up a lease and pay her $1 to rent your room so it is legally a second residence for you.
Malsua 1,422 Posted October 1, 2015 If you consider it your residence, it's legal. Do you "live" there for any time or just sack out once in a while? Sadly in NJ it matters. At stated prior, draw up a lease and now it's legal. If there is a threat, encourage her to get her own gun.

NJGF 375 Posted October 2, 2015 If you have a NJ FPID why not just bring a long gun with you and then take it home?
PD2K 115 Posted October 3, 2015 Draw up a lease and pay her $1 to rent your room so it is legally a second residence for you. Exactly what howard wrote. I'm sure OP has only good intentions, but NJ is very strict as we all know. Take no chances.
