Increase in Violent Crime, Decrease in Property Crime

"...a 3.9 percent increase in the estimated number of violent crimes and a 2.6 percent decrease in the estimated number of property crimes last year when compared to 2014 data."

 

Given the lawlessness that we read about in the news this is not entirely surprising. Yet it is still disappointing given the decades of decreasing crime rates.

Add a tracker for violent crime that is gang related and see what percentage that is to the total.  How about the areas where this type of crime occurs, and then a sweep in those areas. I know, ain't  going to happen, just wishful thinking.

Actually just subtracting out NYC and Chicago would improve things.

I'm wondering if the numbers reflect a shift in tactics by the criminals.  Homes are better protected over these past three years, more homeowners own guns now and the home invaders are being met with armed resistance, and occasionally death.  So the criminals are now going after softer targets off property where their potential victims are less likely to be armed.  If this is the case, it makes for a good argument supporting CCW.
