  1. I will. I'm also considering trying a 40 grain bullet. The 1/12 groove barrel should shoot those accurately too.
  2. Matt6669, not yet. It took me a while to work up an accurate load configuration. Looks like the Varget wins with a 55 grain bullet. CJ does have a 300 yard range and I will be trying it after I take it out to 200 first. Since the bullet drop at 200 is only two clicks I would imagine it will group extremely well out to 300. I'd be very satisified with an 1 1/2" I forgot to mention I had the stock trigger replaced with a Jewel and set it for 15oz.
  3. Haven't tried a dime yet but I did nail a penny at 100 yards. The just snap though. Handloads were 25.0 gr. of Varget using a Hornady 55 gr. V-Max bullet. Brass was Winchester with a OAL of 2.250. Primers were CCI Bench Rest.
  4. Georgia Precision threaded the barrel. I just sent out the bolt handle this morning to Short Action Customs for addition of a tactical bolt knob.
  5. Remmy 700PSS with 1:12 rifling. Makes shooting 55 grain SP handloads at 200 yards fun. I can handily blow up full cans of soda at that distance or put clean holes through quarters. I had my barrel threaded to 1/2-28 and added a brake to reduce recoil. My scope is a Mueller APV 4.5-14X 50MM with sunshade.
  6. You can get a special badge that let's you shoot pistol caliber carbines in the pits but you can only use lead bullets. I believe you have to shoot in two or three matches, like Cowboy Action to qualify. They are afraid of the bullets going over the back bearm and landing in the woods. That's the main reason for the ban on the general membership unless you qualify for the special badge.
  7. Yes, made in PA. they run around $1500.00 or more. I've had two Ruger Mini-14's. One a ranch and one a standard rifle. I would recommend one if you want to shop groups 3" at 100yards at best. If you want something more accurate forget the Ruger. I tried handloads and various types of factory ammo. Nothing grouped better then 3" off the bench. Groups opened up more after the barrel heated up too. The Russian AK types aren't much better if you looking for accuracy. For what one cost's and the unavailability of mags over 5 rounds. ( Pro mags suck by the way ) I'd add a few more bucks and get an AR. IMHO opinion it's the most customizable and accurate .223 semi-auto out there.
  8. I bought two during the Federal AWB for the bargain price of $60.00 ea and was lucky to even find them back then. :x Now I've seen them for less then $25.00 ea. Check Gunbroker.
  9. John, sadly you can't use the clubs steel for target practice but you can buy and bring your own to use. Yes that's basically what they will be doing in the pits. They are also I believe adding some concrete dividers to cut down on riccochets too. I was out there this past Sunday and they have already started work in the pits. The concrete shooting area's have all the roof's already taken down. This going to cost in the neighborhood of 300k so I'm hoping they do it right and do a good job. The additional pits will be a bonus to the membership on the weekends especially when it's tough to get one with the various matches always taking place.
  10. Perfectly legal and effective brake for us NJ surfs. I have one on my KTR-03.
  11. I'm been using H110 and Blue Dot on .357 and .44 magnum for the last 20 years. Both work very well and hurls the bullets like lightning!!
  12. I reload in my garage. I keep the primers and powder in a cabinet. My garage was heat and A/C and a ceiling fan. The Dillion is an excellent press but if your going to reload rifle calibers I'd suggest you get an additional single stage press like a RCBS Rock Chucker and use it for the rifle calibers. You certainly don't have to but a lot of people like myself prefer to load rifle brass on a single stage press. I agree with Tim on the book. Buy more then one and I'd also suggest a copy of the book "The ABC's of Reloading" I'm in Ocean County if you'd like to take a ride down some weekend and see how it's done sometime.
  13. Russian Mosin Nagant. Yugo M48. SKS. And of course there is nothing better then listening to the "ping" of a CMP M1 Garand!!!
  14. Can't help you. I've been reloading on a RCBS single stage press since 1982. I can load one round or 100 at a time. It's no big deal to make a change.
  15. 22.0 seems to be the max by Lyman so it should work fine. Mine always liked max. loads to cycle properly.
  16. I carry a small bottle of Windex with me. Hose the barrel down at the range and clean later.
  17. It was my pleasure. :hope: I love doing it. Hope I didn't talk you ear off but I can talk guns and reloading all day long. My door is always open to anyone who's interested. Just drop me a PM or email.

    WOW!!!!!

Ha! That's all they are worth anyway. Nothing but a stretched AK. I think it's funny that they put a scope on a long barrel AK and call it a sniper rifle.
  19. I'll be heading over today. I'm looking to pick up a stripped AR receiver for a new build.
  20. Easy to remember. Knockoff = crap. Don't do it. As stated, you get what you pay for.
