  1. Bad replica bikes, you need one of these. My 1940 BMW R12 Military. You can mount everything from a zeltbahn to a Mg34.
  2. If the gun is all matching with original finish and matching mags either 1 or 2, I would not shoot it because the gun would be worth a small fortune and would be worth a lot less if something breaks. It should be a 9mm since it would be a WW2 production and to check the barrel should be marked 8,82 I think on the underside near where it meets the frame. The Luger works best with at least 124gr ammo, 115 will not cycle with a lot of the consistently.
  3. The problem with the AO carbine is that everyone should have kept it quiet. Instead you have people saying they saw a letter that led to speculation and that is why people called the NJSP. If the letter was kept secret or let out right away things could have been different.
  4. A ok mismatched G43 is around $2k average now a days. I payed about $2k for a blank adapted shooter with 1 mag and a shooters kit with a repro stock on it for WW2 reenacting when the market was high. A lot of these lower end guns have been sold as parts and this has made the market pretty thin and anything near 100% legit is through the roof.
  5. The stock looks original to me.It should be laminated wood. The majority of original stocks have been sanded by their owners after the war. If you plan on shooting this rifle make sure you get a shooters kit from ApfeltorMy link and look over all the parts very carefully. These guns are not very safe to use with their original gas system setup.
  6. I have a really nice bring back SVT40 that matches minus the stock . I wont change the vet altered stock because the stock was how the German/US vets who found it and then carved their initials in it. It is best to leave well enough alone sometimes.
  7. That seems like a fair price for them in my opinion, they are probably Russian reworks.
  8. It looks nice for a late gun. The gun would have left the factory with a matching bolt though. It is a nice late war gun. If the rest of the gun matches then the bolt probably 1.Got mixed up when it was put in the bucket of cleaning solutions 2. Was thrown away before they surrendered the rifle. 3. Got separated when they took the bolts out of the guns and separated them. The Russian capture stocks are more reddish and have the receiver serial number stamped horizontally on the left side of the stock in big numbers near the butt plate. Looks like it has some weird stamps above the receiver serial too.
  9. If you look at the quality of Mauser 98k forsale now, we have hit the bottom of the barrel. You probably couldnt make a new stock set or bolt for the price of a complete Mosin. They will not be around for too much longer.
  10. I have built 2 out of my 3 WW2 era BMW motorcycles from boxes of parts.I am restoring a rare rusty sidecar now. I can do just about anything.
  11. The Mosin will be the last of the cheap surplus stuff. Their are 2 reasons for this. The first one is the majority of military firearms produced after WW2 were select fire weapons and if there not here now they are not able to be owned by private citizens. You can see this now with the amount surplus of M16a1 parts kits out there at the moment. The second reason is everything that has been avaliable has been for awhile. The RC mausers appeared on the market 10 years ago and have almost dried up completly and have gone up in price. Dont expect to see any large number of K98s,G43s,Svt40s,K31s,Enfields,Mosins,SKSs,etc... anymore.
  12. It is a pretty big hobby. It is continuing to grow and there is nothing else like it.The tristate area has improved in the past 5 years with the addition of the SPR (sticky bomb)Tiger and (Bazooka) Stug from BOB being operated by my reenactment unit. This past year was the first time I had seen a Allied tank in the field. The hobby has a very bright future in this area.
  13. I will be there reenacting but I will be out in the reenactors battle. If you are thinking about WW2 reenacting this event is a good start to see what it is about. Too bad we are not bringing the BOB Stug and SDKFZ 251/9 out. The flea market is usually picked over after Weds but you can still find some good stuff.
  14. I have not brought a firearm from there but they are not dealers. It is just a private seller displaying what is forsale. You can not buy a gun onsite.
  15. This show is usually the last Sunday of every month. I rarely find anything worth looking at. The show has mostly low end surplus rifles, mil.surplus stuff, and fake WW2 German items being sold as originals with original item prices.
  16. Truly sad.. I have met him and a few other easy company vets over the years. He will be missed.
  17. It does not have a flash hider,it is a muzzle brake. A semi-automatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following: (1) A folding or telescoping stock; NO (2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; No (3) A bayonet mount; yes (4) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; No (5) A grenade launcher No
  18. Thanks!!! It is a never ending project to keep improving this bike. It is the earliest Military mass production(matched numbers) R12 known to exist.
  19. It is very close to me so I go if im not working. There is usually a lot of junk and fake WW2 German items trying to be sold as originals. I have found a few nice WW2 items there but never a gun I wanted.
  20. The gun is an oddity,it is not import or Fin capture marked but has intials carved in the stock like some bring back K98s have.It looks like everything but the bolt/bolt carrier and trigger guard match and it came with a Svt38 mag. Im running it at 1.3 with brass cased russian surplus. Im am just trying to be careful because this gun reminds me too much of my K43 which nearly blew up in my face with blank ammo due to a improperly made repro gas cylinder that was in it before I got it.
  21. I took out my SVT 40 out today for th first time. It is a 1941 Tula non Russian Refurb, not import/non Finnish marked. I got the gas system set to the ammo I am using, brass cased surplus. The gun seems to stove pipe and jam on occasion and also has a problem stripping the first round off the mags. I have 3 Mags for it, 2 SA marked and 1 Svt 38 mag. The mags seem to all be in good shape. It looks like the round is hitting where the mag lip meets the chamber feed ramp. Do these mags require fitting to the gun? Should I change the recoil springs and gas piston and cylinder? The original gas system looks brand new though. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. In Nappen's book, It lists 100 reasons to own one. There are some good ideas
  23. i think it would be a good idea if we can try and hang some flyers at some of the gun shops in the area...
