  1. Wow. You guys are all missing the tactical advantage of having an "extra gun" sitting around. Clean it, lube it up nicely, vacuum seal it, place it in an air tight case and bury it along with magazines and ammo (also air tight) in a strategic location. This way your gun is safe, out of the way, can be kept in this location for years, won't be found by a burglar and it's ready for civil unreast.
  2. Hello. I haven't forgotten. I have been researching and talking to places in the Bridgewater area, still looking late March, early April. I am open to suggestions. One of Near by departments has an appropriate area but is asking a lot so I'm still looking. Class materials will be about 80/head (CPR is additional). This includes the books, the bandages, hand outs, ano other items. Add on a location ($500 for one near by FD) and divide by number of students. Sorry for being non-committal I'm still working on this.
  3. BelleplIn Supply. High prices and poor attitude. Universally Loved: PK90, who is no longer here.
  4. I have family in Centre Hall - out near State College. I have been looking in that direction for a cabin and land myself. There are some decent deals in that direction, when you get closer to State College the prices skyrocket.
  5. I enjoy the thoughts and feedback. I have been shooting IDPA for years, tried USPSA, done a bunch of 3 guns and speed on steel competitions. I look at all of them as social events; when you spend hours at the range and have trigger time that is measured in seconds - it is mostly a social event with some shooting. And I'm ok with that, I like meeting new people, seeing people I know and hanging out with like minded people. I have heard people from one bash another, I just giggle. People tend to speak out their rump when it comes to things they know little about or things that aren't their preference. It's how people are, and it's in every line of work, every hobby and every product. I haven't tried the Glock competition yet and would like to broaden my horizons. I believe every competition, every instructor, every constructive criticism may have a great tidbit of information to make me a better shooter.
  6. I am a resident of Cape May County for more then ten years and have developed the "Cape May County Mantality"; meaning "up north" could be Burlington county or Canada. Is the Bridgewater Area acceptable (understanding this is just a general idea, a location still needs to be secured). Late March/early April. On a weekend. Thoughts.
  7. If any of you gentlemen or lady's have a connection for a course - like a member of a Fire Department let me know. maybe a Saturday or Sunday in late March, early April.
  8. Reading these articles reminded me of my father. When he was serving in Vietnam he started with an M16- the earliest model that had problems with the environment so he "ditched that #*<£ing thing" for an M14, which he didn't like either. He ended up with a shotgun and many times an M60. He liked the M60, but his phrases about it's effectiveness are no where near PC. He came out to the range with me a few times and refused to like the AR's
  9. I reached out to a former employer who does a lot of training. He offers 2 classes; a basic bleeding control which is 2 hours and focuses on bleeding control. The other class is written by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and is geared toward the public, not EMS workers. This is an 8 hour class that is first aid and traumatic injury instruction. It comes with a certification and a text book. I asked about cost and he says it depends on the overhead and number of people attending. The course description: "first responder" can be anyone who chooses to help, prior medical knowledge isn't needed. http://www.naemt.org...stResponse.aspx CPR can be added to the class if there is interest, it's an extra 2 hours. I used to do a lot of teaching; Paramedic, EMT, American Heart Association classes but have cut back to spend time with my family - this is why I'm no longer employed with this guy. I'm not benefiting from this, I just know him to be knowledgeable and a good instructor. If there is interest and about 10 people to commit to the class he will run one.

  11. That's what I guessed. Oh well - I have to work anyway. Thanks.
  12. I got the email that Shooters will be hosting Glock competitions on 2-14/ 3-14/ 4-11 (all are my weekends to work). I'm not the biggest fan of glocks; the slide rubs my hand and wears away skin after a magazine. So... I have a "Non-Glock; Glock 22". The frame, barrel and most of the internals are not Glock, in fact the slide is the only thing that is Glock. With a Non-Glock am I still able to participate?
  13. #5 - UGH!!! would not take that one it it was free. I bet if her right antecubital fossa was not covered you could see the track marks.
  14. I understand your thought process: easier trigger pull makes an accidental trigger pull a little easier. I believe that ND's are the fault of the person holding the gun, not the gun itself.
  15. For me it depends on my goals of the day. Usually I go to the range to practice and have fun so I have no problem talking, sharing and socializing. I have had the opportunity to shoot some cool guns that other people have brought and I have had people shoot some of my guns with a huge smile on their face. I only regret handing a gun to someone once and he was a guest of mine. Some of my range visits are for shooting a score like the Winchester NRA Marksmanship program and I want to focus and shoot well. On thost trips I use the smaller side ranges that are rarely used and where I likely won't be bothered. If someone comes to see what I'm doing I'll talk to them and explain but I don't get into a big conversation and have share time.
  16. 1. I Might be interested in the rifle. 2. I'll kick some money toward the cat so you don't have to sell off your collection.
  17. Walther PPKs .380. I purchased it from a friend to use as a carry gun (when I could carry in PA). It concealed well but was heavy for a carry gun and the slide dug into my hand every time I shot it; regardless of hand position.
  18. Thanks for the ideas. You gents always have good thoughts. We took a leisurely trip and hit 3 wineries; Cream Ridge, Lauretta and Working Dog. We did a flight of beer at the Trap Rock Restaurant along with some really good onion rings. We stayed at the Old Mill Inn which was beautiful. Dinner next door at the Grain House was amazing - one of the 3 best meals I have ever had (Morimoto's in Philly and Old Harbor Brewery in Old San Juan rank 1 and 2). We stopped by the Raptor Trust on the way home to Cape May County. The Raptor Trust is very cool and I would highly recommend it. Thanks again. Happy new year.
  19. My wife and I are celebrating 10 years married. We are booked for the Old Mill Inn in Basking Ridge tomorrow night. We are going to take a scenic ride and stop by a bunch of wineries on our way up from Cape May County. Any thoughts on places to stop, things to do. We have all day tomorrow and Monday. Thanks.
  20. I Am Not A Lawyer. Yes; you can get the barrel delivered to your home and do the work on it at home. I have the barrel delivered, put on the barrel nut, gas block then I attach the muzzle device. I like to have the device permanently attached before mounting the barrel to the upper, I my opinion it's not "readily assembled" if I need to vise block and use tools to put it together.
