  1. Just to check I'm reading this correctly... Is that top one $50/hr for one range port? Thx G
  2. Henry is a great guy and very much part of the culture and ethos of firearms in East B. Whatever he does I hope he is successful.
  3. No. They do get it. Over and over until we are not watching or we become exhausted. Like waves rub rocks into pebbles. They do indeed get it, because they can never be voted out because when all is said and done, gun owners in NJ don't care enough to vote. G
  4. Sorry, but the three NRA rules are better: ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use G
  5. This is really good news. Thanks to EN and also lets not forget the huge groundswell effort by NJ2AS with their "Operation Establish Compliance" which knocked down this same behavior one town at a time. Great work all round! G
  6. Vlad G ^^ is correct. The "why" doesn't matter, it's the "what". G
  7. The most interesting part of the ruling to me - the most threatening precedent I mean - is that he specifically ruled that, while the Supreme Court had previously determined that firearms in common use were protected, and he accepted that the banned firearms are in common use and only very rarely used in crimes, nonetheless lower bodies could take advantage of the Heller clause on "reasonable restriction" to essentially ignore the "common use" clause at will. Effectively therefore, he has neutered Heller. G
  8. Hi we will be running NRA Basic Instructor Training (B.I.T.) and Certified Pistol Instructor on November 10th and 17th. You can learn about becoming an NRA Instructor, read about the course, and sign up directly, here: http://www.scotshot.com/instructor.html The course will be run by two NRA Appointed Training Counselors. If your BIT is less than two years old you'll not have to retake it to add the Pistol Certification. Briefly, the course can be described thus: CERTIFIED PISTOL INSTRUCTOR Pistol Instructors are able to qualify students in the "FIRST Steps Pistol" and "Basic Pistol" courses. This entails having a keen working knowledge of the three major pistol action types: single-action revolver, double-action revolver and semi-automatic pistol (and its common variants). Working in teams, Pistol Instructor Candidates will become familiar with the three NRA rules for Safe Gun Handling and how to apply them carefully throughout their classes. They will be able to demonstrate how pistols function and the fundamentals of pistol shooting. On the range, Instructor Candidates will use the "Coach and Pupil" method to refine one anothers' skills in teaching a beginner student in their first shots with a pistol. To take this module, you must have passed BIT. Please note that there is a safety, gun handling and live fire pre-qualification. Many thanks for reading - feel free to contact me with any questions or comments regarding this or any ScotShot class. http://www.scotshot.com/generalinquiries.html G
  9. This is going to be a great place. Guns fishing archery AND shooting ranges...

  11. While the class was lightly attended, it went very well. The four students were engaged and lively through the class and range portions. We had to cancel the Pepper Spray portion for lack of interest, which I confess surprised me. Overall however it was a great day with four great students and two excellent co-instructors. Our next class is NRA Basic Pistol, on September 29th. http://www.scotshot.com/basicpistol.html See you on the range! best G

  19. To the OP, to paraphrase the NRA three rules for safe gun handling: ALWAYS get advice on legal matters from a lawyer licensed to practice in your state ALWAYS view Internet forum posts, no matter how well constructed, as well meaning, likely misleading and often un- or at best partly-informed ALWAYS understand that the nuances of a particular circumstance can be the biggest factor G
