  1. I think you meant: http://www.charterfirearms.com/ Thanks!, Will check it out.
  2. Wow, that's a big wheel.... Say, does the 15 round mag limit apply to revolver wheels too? Thanks for the responses. Looks like a used Taurus is the way to go if I want to pursue this.
  3. Taurus used to make one, but it's discontinued: http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=336&category=Revolver# I know 9mm isn't ideal for revolvers because its a rimless cartridge; just trying to weigh some options for a back up gun that doesn't introduce a new ammo requirement.
  4. Get a shorter mag tube post haste and get that 7 round one out of the state. I doubt you're going to get any flak at a range since it's a subtle feature, unlike a pistol grip or folding stock, but better safe than sorry.
  5. Ding Ding Ding - Winner!. Axeman, the section that UHF quotes above (which comes immediately *after* the section you quoted) affirms what I wrote in my earlier post. Semi-auto shotguns can not have mags that hold more than 6 rounds AND can not have a folding stock AND can not have a pistol grip. Any single one of those characteristics make it an assault weapon under the section UHF quotes above.
  6. Was thinking about a WASR recently but have decided to wait on any kind of AK until I move out of NJ. My thinking is very much aligned with PK90's post. Just too grey an area IMO. Yes, I'd likely prevail if legal action was ever brought against me for owning one in NJ, but I've decided that the risk of having to pay for legal representation isn't offset by the reward of having one.
  7. Work at a bank (not a branch, back office stuff, no cash in the bldg). Absolutely everything related to firearms/weapons is blocked. Strangely the Brady foundation site isn't though.... I haven't tried this site at work yet, but I'm not taking the chance of tripping the filter.
  8. Hate to say it, but I bet a lot of the stockpiled firearms and ammo comes out for sale as unemployment continues to ramp. A safe full of AR's and .223 doesn't pay the rent or buy diapers and formula.
  9. Got my "mystery" ammo in today from Bass Pro. Other than the bullets are black with flat noses, looks shootable to me. I think Rem will get to the range before I do, but I'll post up on how it shoots in case he doesn't:
  10. I'll give you the 5 second version as opposed to the half hour version: Database/IT guru for a very specialized financial application in a very specialized real-estate related department of a regional bank.
  11. I favor light sport bikes. Current: Suzuki SV650, KTM Duke II Had: Ninja 250, FZR 400, FZR 600, Honda RS125 (race only 2 stroke). Did a stint of amateur road racing back in the 90's, now just do sport riding.

    Welcome! Nice P30.
  13. https://surplusammo.com/ Reloads: http://georgia-arms.com/ Also a couple of "deal" sites: http://gun-deals.com/index.php http://www.ammoengine.com/
  14. With a pump action, not hunting, anything goes as long as it is the minimum ATF barrel length. Semi-auto, you can *NOT* have a pistol grip, you can *NOT* have a folding stock, and you can *NOT* have magazine capacity in excess of 6 rounds.
  15. Explaining my user name would be a long and tortured bit of prose. Just know that it has nothing to do with my real name.
  16. That reminds me...Anyone have any recommendations for a gun safe that would fit in a small closet? Ideally fireproof (would like to store documents too) and with a biometric/fingerprint open option.
  17. Let me know if it can be viewed on the web (no broadcast/cable TV at my place).
  18. Sorry to hear that! I just got the email that the 9mm shipped.
  19. Love that site. It's what turned me on to shotguns and slugs (check out the padlocks and bulletproof glass articles): http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot5.htm http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot6.htm
  20. Looks like fun (and discourages any left-handed friends from wanting to borrow it).
  21. I consider myself a beginner and thought this article encompassed more good info than any other I've seen: Massad Ayoob: How to shoot a handgun accurately http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/ayoob85.html
  22. All the time on my Goldwing. Cool! As I have sportbikes, there's not enough room for a locking case + ammo, and I'm afraid carrying in a backpack would count as carrying concealed.
  23. This isn't statute, however it looks like the State Police consider a black powder handgun to be "a handgun": http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/faq.html#firearms
  24. I have 4 vehicles, only 2 have a "trunk" (actually, under seat storage. They're motorcycles). I've never tried to transport to the range via a motorcycle. That probably deserves its own thread. Anyway, when I transport to the range in a car, all firearms go in a lockable hard rifle case completely unloaded, without magazines, slides or bolt locked open and trigger locks on. Case gets locked. Ammo goes in an ammo can.
