  1. The presentation was video taped. I'm sure it will be up on NJ2AS and Youtube soon. It was a packed house. The American Legion parking lot was completely full. That was a first. People had to park down the street. It was standing room only inside. I don't how many people were there but it had to be over 200. Alan Gura's presentation was excellent. He was very down to earth. He spoke and answered questions for about an hour and then stuck around and talked to a bunch of people one on one. Very cool.
  2. Here is the question: Is possession of a firearm, in a place where possession of a firearm is presumptively legal, reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed or is in the process of being committed?
  3. All Obama has to do during a second term is replace one conservative Supreme Court justice with one liberal justice and Heller and McDonald will be overturned within a few years. The Second Amendment will become meaningless because it will be subject to any regulation where the government has "an interest." Mr. LaPierre was not exagerating.
  4. If you have an alarm system, set up the closet as a separate zone with its own keypad that will remain armed even if the main alarm is disarmed and give the monitoring station your cell phone rather than your home phone. Put the keypad somewhere discrete, not near the closet. That way, if the door is ever opened, no matter where you are, whether someone is home or not, you will get a call from the monitoring station. A thief might bypass the main alarm somehow, but won't know that the room is a separate zone that will still go off if opened.
  5. I asked the NJSP Firearms Investigation Unit some time ago. The answer was you leave the block blank if you don't have an FID card. Of course, that does not mean that your PD knows that.
  6. If you are looking to be able to carry in as many states as possible, you can also get CT, NH and ME. (FL, VA, AZ, UT, CT, NH and ME are the ones you can get as non-residents without traveling to the State).
  7. I never provide my SSN on any form unless there is a statement on the form listing the statute that mandates that it be collected. The statement is required by law. If it isn't there, then they don't need it. No statement = optional. I have been told that the process will take longer. It never does and how could it possibly.
  8. He withdrew that bill and resubmitted it with a $100 fee. . The bill he submitted isn't perfect, but it is better than what we have now and it is more likely to pass than the Republican bill. Van Drew and Dougherty ( R ) had a bipartisan address at the South Jersey Shooting Center last year sponsored by NJ2AS. Van Drew was well versed on the issue, answered every question, and to me, seemed sincere in his desire to try to pass something palatable for both sides.
  9. I'm filing an appeal... lol http://www.bizjetsafetyequipment.com/fire-axes/
  10. It's a fire axe. Look for smoke and feel for heat, punch hole or pry open, spray fire extinguisher through the hole. The reason the handle has so much rubber is to prevent electrocution when doing so. You find them on aircraft. Some call it a crash axe. You can also use it to help you get out of the plane, but it's not really made for that. It's made to fight fire.
  11. They made her get her photo taken? Wow! That's the first time I heard that one. Can you email me the forms as a PDF? My email is in my signature block below. Thank you.
  12. I don't think you are being lied to, but it is clear that he is mistaken. However, Maks and the others are correct, it is at the Chief's discretion, however, it seems to be very uncommon for a PD to not extend a permit. I agree with the other suggestions to print out the statute, 2C:58-3(f) and the Administrative Code, N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.7 and bring it with you and show it to him. Use your own words, but I would suggest starting the conversation with something like, "Hey, I don't blame you for not knowing about the extension. The gun laws in this state are practically impossible to understand, but here's the statute and the Administrative Code. I just want to save you and me some paperwork and another x month wait. I won't mind if you want to take a day or two to check with your Chief and/or the Firearms Investigation Unit. I would appreciate it if you did." His reaction will tell you all you need to know. I would be happy to call them on your behalf, but since it is at the Chief's discretion, you probably have a better chance of success if you handle it on your own in a friendly and professional manner. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss it further or need any help locating the statute and AC.
  13. Well, you would certainly be justified in calling your legislators and asking them to conduct an inquiry as to why they violated both the statute and your rights.
  14. Does that mean that it took 3 months for them to to send out the reference letters?
  15. Okay, I see what you are saying. Must go through FFL and must follow the law in the state you are conducting the transaction and the law of the state you are from. That must be in 18 U.S.C. § 922 somewhere. Looks like I'll be reading more legislation this weekend -- oh what fun! http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/18/I/44/922
  16. If you drive into PA, conduct the transaction and drive back, wouldn't that be perfectly legal without a COE?
  17. Excellent news. What ended up getting them to move on it?
