  1. Glad to see this thread has devolved into some nice, novel LEO bashing. I'll toss in my two cents. First, if a LEO has probable cause, they don't need a warrant to search your car. PERIOD. That's been US Supreme Court law for going on at least 90 years, good luck getting it changed. There's even some argument that the police shouldn't need probable cause to "pat down" you and your car during an interaction if they have reasonable suspicion that you are involved in a crime. Plus, if you've been pulled over for an infraction, you can be arrested and you and your car will be searched and inventoried. (even for speeding, running a stoplight or changing lanes without signaling. It's officer discretion to issue a summons for an infraction. They are within their right to arrest you for violating ANY law.) So, this entire discussion is an exercise in futility, because if an officer tells you he's going to search your car, there's not a damn thing you can do, unless you want to be charged with assaulting an officer. You sit there and you take it. Maybe you can mouth-off a bit, but you cannot physically stop him. The only time this probable cause, reasonable suspicion, warrant discussion occurs is in the courtroom...LONG after you've been arrested and searched. The recourse that you have if you feel you've been unlawfully detained and searched is to sue the police in civil court for violating your US Const. rights. But, again, that occurs LONG after the encounter. So, what do you do? Don't be an a**, don't consent to a search and don't talk. Much discussion beyond that is academic.
  2. Glad to hear that your experience was fairly smooth and that you're OK with how long you had to wait. Others are not so lucky. I know I had to wait 89 days for my FID and it was all on the PD. Also, "only" having to wait 3 weeks to exercise a constitutionally-protected right is wholly unacceptable in my opinion.
  3. SHHHHH!!!! You'll give them ideas. To answer your question, not that I know of.
  4. That was exactly my first thought. Then, I re-watched the video and read the first subtitle. 45mm handgun?!?!?! FYI, this is a 45 mm weapon: Thanks, Wikipedia
  5. Ok, so, from what I understand, we can surmise this isn't even an original Mosin Sniper, because it doesn't have the bent bolt handle, agreed?
  6. The Decorah Eagles feed has sound! Although, you mostly hear the wind rushing by, you can hear the chicks and the parents.
  7. Welcome! And if you do decide to retreat back to America, feel free to stay on the forum and taunt us from across the border!
  8. I don't have a problem with the name, but in an effort to stop the quibbling, could we rename it NJCSD "Internet Response Team?"
  9. So, you decided to post and you made ME look!!! Dang-it, quit it!
  10. Hi Weddin, Welcome to the board. You're going to get a lot of opinions on which caliber weapon to get, so be prepared. If you haven't tested the weapon that you intend to purchase, I would strongly suggest that you go to a range like Shore Shot and rent a lot of different pistols in different calibers. When you walk in, tell them that you're new to shooting and looking to try different brands in different calibers. It'll be money well spent. Then, ask yourself how much you want to spend on ammunition. 45's are expensive to shoot; 22's are REALLY cheap. As for supplies, it depends on your budget. I see you're planning on getting a bag from Midway. They've got nice stuff, from what I've heard. My range bag is a cheap-o bag that I had sitting around that was given to me free a few years ago. I would recommend not spending a lot of money on some "tactical" bag with silly features that you'll never use. You could go with expensive hearing protection. Howard Leight makes good stuff. I use ear plugs that I bought from Home Depot (noise reduction of 32 Db). Ammunition is where you're going to spend a lot of your money (especially if you stick with a .45). If you buy home defense ammo (e.g. Hornady Critical Defense), keep maybe 50 rounds around the house (it's expensive) and have the remainder of your ammo in chaper "range ammo." There's no need to shoot expensive Hornady ammunition at the range except for every now and then to make 100% sure that you're comfortable with the way that ammo shoots. Your friend coming out of the academy is dead wrong about not being able to use hollow points in a home-defense scenario. There is NO LAW distinguishing ammunition for self-defense. As far as the statutes are concerned, there is no difference if you shoot someone with lead ball, full metal jacket, hollow-point or "defense rounds" in a home-defense shooting. Best of luck, and post what you bought, when you buy it!
  11. I got some updated photos, as well. Anyone that know Mosins know how "rare" this rifle is? I want to force him to take it apart. What part might be difficult to get to, but might, somehow be relevant to a future purchaser? Perhaps I want a clear photo of the firing pin removed from the trigger assembly?
  12. Can we pull a /4/ chan on him and ask all kinds of penetrating questions? Then ask for additional pictures so he has to put a lot of extra work into trying to sell his scam? Then, nobody bids and the thing never sees an offer above $1. I'm just saying......social justice ain't just for the movies. HINT: First inquiry should be vague and not too terribly excited or complementary. Subsequent questions should get increasingly more excited about its "uniquness" and ask for more and more difficult photos/information or asking him to make isht up to embellish/support the story and justify its price. Edited to Add: I think he just built this POS scam off of stuff he bought from gunbroker: Stripper Clip Scope I can't find the Mosin in his feedback, but I suspect it's from the things that are too old to queue back up.
  13. Very. ETA: Yes, I'm having fun with the multiquote function today.
  14. I only counted 17 rounds fired. But I learned a new term today..."assault clips." Thank you, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. You taught me a new fear-inducing phrase with no real definition.
  15. Hey Maks, Thanks for doing these, again! I would like: 1 Tan Med (or small if avail.) 1 Tan Large Let me know when you need/want the money. Do we get to select the charity each or our purcahses go to, or will you divy it up evenly?
  16. Not spam, I checked out the site, it's all about an establishment of a nationwide militia network and the NJ branch of the organization.
  17. That's funny, because the NRA posted that article in May, 2010. But, in December, 2010, the NRA posted this little piece. http://www.nrapublications.org/SG/index_dec10.asp Admittedly, when I first read this post, I was: and wanted to post a response similar. But, then, I was thinking, do we really want to smite someone that brings something relevant to us? But yeah, something like this was posted here: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/20205-surrendering-our-sovereignty/page__p__267620__hl__treaty__fromsearch__1#entry267620
  18. I agree, the balloon missiles are MUCH more funny than the gun leash and they're not likely to cause the panic that the gun leash will. I was really just looking for an excuse to post that pic.
  19. Hey Nine, Welcome to the board! I applied for my initial FID in Clifton. My references received their forms in about 7 days and sent them back the two days after that. I finished getting fingerpritned 2 weeks after application. Then, Clifton took their sweet time approving my FID. It took them a total of 89 days! Clifton actually has the balls to put it in writing when you apply! They write DO NOT INQUIRE AS TO THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION UNTIL 2 MONTHS HAVE PASSED at the bottom of their application information sheet. I hope your wife's FID comes through more quickly than mine.
  20. Wow, I can't believe the chief is going to blame you for his own ridiculous requirements. It's the chief's call as to what the detective does to "investigate" each applicant...so it's his own fault. And about the 1-party or 2-party consent for recording issue, I don't think that applies to interactions with public officials acting in their official capacity. It's a constitutional thing and the desire to have openness in the government and public official accountability. I haven't looked into this closely, but that's my impression.
  21. I KNOW!!! I get all giddy filling out archaic and obsolete paper-work which permits the sate to violate my rights of privacy just so I can beg for permission to exercise my creator-given rights! It's like the day before a pre-boot-camp medical exam, or the day before going through a TSA checkpoint. My heart is all a-twitter. But, yeah, when you get the call that your permits are approved, you feel relieved, which only pisses me off more. Why do I feel happy and relieved after waiting 2 months to do what should take 15 minutes?!?!?!?!
