  1. Duppie, you have a fine taste in firearms! CZ and now a S&W M28...some of the finest handguns ever made (at least IMO!). Love the grips on the n-frame. How do you like the finger grooves? I have a set of original Goncalo Alves wood target grips that came on my M28 (6") and am thinking of getting something new on there and saving the originals so they don't get banged up at the range. Trying to decide on whether to go with finger grooves or straight target stock grips.
  2. Heritage Guild in Easton allows buck shot and slugs. It's an indoor range though, so other than patterning, it's not really any fun.
  3. Not sure what you're asking for. Case makes some more budget priced knives in their yellow handled knives. I carry my slimline trapper everyday and use it outdoors. At $29, if I lose, break, or wear it out, I'll just buy another.
  4. I'm out unfortunately. Sandy left a mess in the neighborhood so I'll be helping with cleanup efforts. Hope everyone enjoys the day!
  5. Sure, if you google "M&P 9 accuracy issues", you'll find a bunch of forums covering this issue. As an example, this is one thread I was following recently, from pistol-forum.com, http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?2903-Recent-manufacture-M-amp-P-9-accuracy. I tend to value the opinion of some of the pros found on that forum. Seems that accuracy really suffers beyond the 15 yd line, and groups really tend to open up. Again, I'm not good enough to even group my shots consistently @ 25 yds, so seems kind of a moot point for me But still, it's sad that people are looking to buy aftermarket barrels and trigger kits to fix things that should just work from the factory. Not much value in purchasing a gun for $450, when you need to add another $200 on top of it to get it to run. I know that there are factory 15 rounders for the M&P 9, I put together the sticky we have in this forum on where to find NJ compliant mags But my point is the availability of these 15 round mags for the M&P. There's only 1 place online that I've seen NJ compliant mags for the M&P 9 at a reasonable cost, G&R Tactical. Ordering directly from S&W, these same mags are like $40 a pop... Glock 19 15 rounders are found everywhere and cheap.
  6. I've been doing the same research recently trying to decide on my first polymer, either a Glock 19 gen4 or a M&P 9 FS. Having shot both, I'm leaning more towards the Glock for the following reasons: - While the M&P grip is definitely more comfortable, read less blocky, I shoot the Glock 19 better, YMMV of course! - Glock grip angle points more naturally for me - Stock 15 round mags - no need for more expensive pinned mags and easier to find - Glock trigger, while squishy at least has a much better reset. I actually don't feel like I need a trigger job on the Glock for my needs, whereas the M&P does leave some to be desired. - The "reported" accuracy issues with the current manufacture of M&P 9's. I'm not a good enough shooter to see the difference out from 25 yds, however, I'd rather pick a gun that is a proven performer and not wonder if it's me that sucks or the gun. When you have a bunch of pros in the industry working on aftermarket barrels just to get the gun to shoot acceptably for them, it sends a red flag in my book.
  7. Hey Drez, add me to the list attending +2. I'll probably show up with my brother and a buddy that lives right around the corner. We have a variety of pumps and o/u shotties that everyone is welcome to try.
  8. Big and heavy, but based on the CZ 75B design, so it's definitely a proven performer. I looked at picking up a full sized BE in 9mm when shopping a few years back and the things I didn't like about it where: 1) heavy as hell and 2) didn't like the slide mounted decocker - it is a decock/safety type like on the Beretta 92FS. I ended up with a CZ 75B instead. Since you are looking at the .45 ACP version, you may want to take a look at the EAA Witness in .45 ACP as an option.
  9. Oh man, I totally missed this and I'm right in the neighborhood! Definitely let me know if you do this next month. I'll bring my shotguns and clays!
  10. Hey Duppie, looks like CZ USA no longer stocks the 15 rounders... you can still get them from CDNN for $25, which is a great price: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/cz759mm15blm.html Like everyone's already said, steer clear of the promags. I had 3 for my CZ 75B and I couldn't get through 1 mag without some sort of failure to feed. I even swapped springs, and still couldn't get them to run. The MecGar/CZ OE mags have always worked well.
  11. Tell Jim to order sku # 01130. That's the 10 rnd CZ 75BD sku . Ships from the factory with 10 rnd mags

    P6 vs p228

Held both back to back at a gun show...like someone else said, there didn't seem to be much of a width difference. The P228 is a little chunkier, but all the other dimensions are the same. Given the availability of cheap 15 round mags from MecGar for the P228 vs being stuck with 8 rounds for the P6, I'd go with the 228...in fact I did purchase one a while back and love it.
  13. +1 on the Lenovo. They make the best quality laptops for business users. I have had my X301 for close to 4 yrs now and the thing just keeps going despite being on the road and getting jostles around quite a bit! I'd definitely steer clear of Dells. Good for home users, but just won't stand up to heavy use without some component failing or getting loose, etc...
  14. Good luck Vic and thanks for your service!
  15. Is that the feature of when you load a shell into the mag, it's chambered automatically? Yes - I've tried it so far with snap caps and it works well.
  16. Parker, thanks for the detailed explanation between the two. I didn't realize the Auto 5 and the Auto 5 Magnum were two variants! I understand the setup know and see how it works. I did find the diagram glued on the inside of the forearm but it was a bit faded and hard to read. The more I learn about the way this action works, the more amazed I am at Browning's genius for sure!
  17. Thanks for the advice! Reading the manual over and over and the link that Parker sent, I think I have it set correctly, as shown in the photo above. I also tried searching on Youtube and that was just a source of more confusion. Alot of the videos for breaking down the Auto 5 and Remington 11 (same gun) there actually said to move the friction ring to the receiver end of the magazine tube, followed by the recoil spring and then the bronze friction piece. Interestingly enough, the Browning manual is contrary to that advice and states, I'll go by what the manufacturer says...I'll be shooting some clays this weekend so I'll take a long a few types of loads to see what works best with this setup.
  18. I have an older Browning Auto 5 Magnum in 12-gauge that's capable of getting set to shoot heavy 3" loads or 2-3/4" loads. The previous owner used this gun as as his deer gun so he had a rifled barrel on it along with the recoil friction rings set to shoot heavy loads. Since I don't hunt, I'm adopting this gun for shooting claying and am trying to reset the friction rings properly. I downloaded the manual from Browning site, http://media.brownin...5_mag_2up_s.pdf, but the directions aren't very clear...must've been written by a Belgium guy after a few beers I set it up the way I think it should be and would appreciate anyone with more experience with the Auto 5 to comment on my photo below. Top of photo is the muzzle end and bottom is towards the receiver. I put the bronze friction piece, bevel side out towards the barrel guide ring, with the solid friction ring directly behind it, followed by the recoil spring, which rests against the receiver frame. Thanks for any help!
  19. Afaik, the Maverick line isnt made in China. Its manufactured in TX. they're do cost cut that line, labor and materials, so I'd avoid it if my life depended on it.
  20. Check out the Stoeger Condor line of O/U shotguns as well. Those are well made, Turkish shotguns (CZs shotguns are also made in Turkey). For a budget of $650, you can get the Condor Supreme, which comes with a high polish blue finish, nice wood, ejectors, and a selective trigger. Nice upgrades for not a lot more over the base models. I just shot one this weekend in 20-gauge and was very impressed! The CZ redhead deluxe models look nice as well, but they'll cost you a little more.
  21. I recently picked up the Buck Vantage Avid off of Amazon. For a $37 knife, this this is great! Smooth opening, great steel (Sandvick 13c27), really nice pocket clip and handle material, and made in the USA. Add that to Buck's Forever Warranty, it's one of the best bangs for your buck out there. Their warranty is excellent and used it on my Buck Ranger 112 when the tip broke. I sent them the knife and they replaced the blade, buffed the handle and it came back looking like new - all for free! If you're knives are used and abused, the warranty will definitely come in handy for you. My vote is definitely a Buck!
  22. During my last visit at Heritage Guild in Branchburg, they had a CZ P01 and a CZ PCR (non-railed version of the P01) in the case. I think they were asking close to $600 for each.
  23. Hi everyone, recently received this note from my range, SCFGPA in Bridgewater, asking for support for a proposed public State run Olympic archery complex in Readington, NJ. I'm not an active archer, but do support any sports that get people outdoors - especially the young ones (they all spend too much time in front of PCs and TVs these days)! It'd be great if the State supported and funded the building of such as site. Anyway, would be great to show them our support as sportsmen (and women). =============================
  24. Way to get some momentum moving for new members! The groups got a great cause. I just joined yesterday!
