  2. Rob - I always thought the 6mm-223 was down on case capacity but apparently they're getting good velocity. Let me know. Very interesting.
  3. Rob - Could have fooled me. I thought it was the SCCA "Honda Civic"
  4. If my daughter draws a gun somebody will be shot. But she carries Federal Creds. Oh sorry wrong kind of "DRAW".
  5. When I get home I'll post some pics. AR in the rack on the golf cart. G19 in the console. And other good stuff. But good funny Mrs...
  6. Vlad - I'm with you 100% I was referring to the physical external mounting as you are. And really that's all we can measure when mounting.
  7. "Mechanical Offset"? Are you saying offset as in MOA or CL bore to CL of optics? If you shoot distance we all (most) use ballistics calculators. And 1/2" @ 1000 yds, and I have no idea what you're talking about, equates to .050" at 100yds. Not even the benchrest guys are that consistent.
  8. Is the base supposed to be 20MOA designed as such or is that your determination? And it's always a science unless you're a "banger".
  9. OK that is what I do as well. But I don't break the CL of Bore to CL of optics into thousandths. I try to get as close as a 1/16" and I'm good to go. Now I've never really thought this through but any error in distance between in the height (let's say 1/8") would be carried through out the trajectory and arc and can be adjusted out by one vertical click of the scope since CL bore to Optics are parallel. Now if using a 20 or other MOA base I'd have to think about it.
  10. Well kid Congrats!!!!!!!! I know the quest you've been on and the work you've put in to harvest that deer. I know your a shooter and have seen what you can do. Keep developing your woods lore and you'll be eating venison every winter. Nice animal! OS
  11. And what are you doing that you need to know this measurement?
  12. They did a blued Ithaca 37 barrel for me that my brother F'd up. I took the Rayburn sight off and they did a super job and didn't grind it up. I was impressed for about $100 If you have time, them putting it in they're next batch is the way to go. They're over the border right near Monroe, NY I've used them for transfers too. To my buddies that unfortunately live in NYS.
  13. You can get the solution from Brownell and loads of instructions online Also East Coast Bluing http://www.eastcoastbluing.com/ They're pretty good and nice folks
  14. I'm shooting a GuntecUSA billet upper. F#@king incredible. Paired with a good barrel it's a tack driver. Good or better than a Mega. http://www.guntecusa.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=935&search=upper
  15. Rob - Question? Do you use an Ultrasonic for your cans? I talked to my silencer guy today and he said don't bother and to clean manually.
  16. Just to put it in perspective. The rail is 10.5oz and the stock is 9.2oz It is a little heavier in the nose but the purchase is nice in the off hand. Balances about 5" in front of the receiver.
  17. The only advantage I find on the long rails is sight mounting and increasing the sight radius of irons. Look at this rail on my long range rifle. DPMS floater and very ridged but heavy. (no rail) And if someone doesn't tell me the front sight is on backwards, I'll be disappointed
  18. But those little girly hands probably work just fine with sap gloves
  19. Do we all agree that the sling swivel stud touching the barrel defeats the purpose of a free floating rail? Also ample clearance is necessary because there is some flex in the rail.
  20. Right on the track to paranoia. Lock up your empty firearms so they are not visible. Become familiar with Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA)... And you guys that are going south this weekend may be whistling in the wind. I was going home to SC on Friday and now delaying the trip for a week. All the interstates are now outbound only and nobody know when they're going to let you back in. Do your homework
  21. Just buy a nice used 37. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. See the prices on those things? Ridiculous
  23. Don't know why everybody trys to reinvent the wheel. Ithaca 37 feather light. All steel Ultimately reliable. (one of the shotguns used in Viet Nam) Can be had in decent shape for about $350 Like Parker said the 20" smooth bore deerslayer is the cat's ass with fiber optic sights. Everybody said it all, early model slam fire which may be preferable or not.
