  2. The effective range out of a M4 Carbin is only 50 to 100 meters for those 2 types of ammo? I find that hard to believe. I would not want to be shot with either even at 4, 500 yards.
  3. All manufacturers say that about non OEM parts/work. Doesn't the G34/35 come with the - connector which is the 4.5/3.5 already?
  4. Which Glock do you have? I find the 3rd Gen G17/22/19/23 trigger to be really nice straight from the factory. The G21sf I had is slightly heavier. You just have to polish it a bit if it's brand new. It's very predictable and the weight is good for a defense gun. Polishing the firing pin block plunger will smooth out the pretravel a lot too, it's not that bad on a stock Glock though. If you have a Gen 4 gun I'd try a Gen 3 trigger/trigger bar first. It'll give you the lighter Gen3 pull. If you really want to go lighter, you can try the Glock - connector or the Ghost 3.5 one. It will lighten up the pull but it's not as 'predictable' as the stock connector.
  5. Revolvers aren't really more reliable than semis. There are a lot of intricate parts in it for timing everything. Not to mention the locks on the new ones. They can totally freeze up too and when they do, good luck on clearing them! I've had one that stopped working and had to go back to the factory. They are especially bad when the environment gets bad, but that's not really an issue with home defense. All guns can malfunction, it's important to shoot enough with the HD/carry round to make sure it runs reliably. For semis, you can tap/rack/bang and it seldomly locks up totally. Get one with second strike capability(92/m9 has it) and you should be good to go. For revolvers, get one without a lock on it.
  6. For a new shooter I think a semi is a better option for HD purpose. If you are going for a Beretta 92/m9, I think a 92G will be a better option for someone new. You can dec0ck it to put it in a safe state but will never put you in the situation where the safety is accidentally left on when you need to fire off rounds.
  7. Welcome. My folks are still in West Orange and I lived there for 18 years. If you have any questions regarding WOPD and permits don't hessitate to ask me any questions.
  8. Nice review. Does the slide lock back after last shot?
  9. I shot bullseye matches in HS with 22 Anschutz target rifles at 50' into targets 1-1/2 inch big with the 10 ring the size of a 22 bullet. It is anything but boring. I have been to a USPSA match and it's just a different type of fun. I don't see how that's not a social sport since you are interacting with other shooters as well. It might not be as fast paced but it sure is exciting when you hit bulleye on targets you can barely see through the ghost ring sights.
  10. Interesting, according to the specs it weighs exactly the same as a 9mm version? That's pretty nice as far as training goes. Most conversion kits once intalled weighs a lot less than the center fired version.
  11. I can use one of these at home too
  12. Walt is a great guy. Hackettstown G&A is by far my favorite shop in NJ.
  13. Check Hackettstown Guns and Ammo. They usually always have a couple in stock.
  14. OK.. That's exactly what I did, just mailed them in with a $0.45 stamp. I'm just worried if it gets lost in the mail. I guess that's what the blue copy is for.
  15. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3CZ82&name=Czech%20CZ-82%209x18%20Pistol Not a bad deal for a nice CZ.
  16. When mailing back the white and yellow copies back to the state police and issuing authority after making a handgun sale. Do you mail it back just first class or certified? thx.
  17. Any gunsmith can swap out the sights. It's a very simple/straight forward task. Your gun should have the standard Novak low mount cuts in the rear and I believe those sights are made by Kimber. They should go right in with very little filing. I swap out sights myself, I have a sight pusher for 1911 but you dont' really need it.

    M9A1 vs SP-01

I vote for the CZ as well. Never thought highly of CZ before I owned one, and I had a Beretta 92fs and a lot of other guns. Yes the Beretta is nice looking, planning on getting a m9 just for the straight dust cover but the CZ is better at everything else. CZ is one of the best in terms of ergonomics and performance.
  19. I decided to go with the Apex option vs Burwell trigger job. I'm sure it feels great but I'm looking for a more rolling like break than a crisp 1911 like break on this gun since I don't intend this to be a target gun. I think the Apex kit will provide a relatively less crisp break. Recutting the sear and striker is another reason why I personally chose to stay away from Burwell trigger jobs. These parts are surface hardened, by cutting the sear and striker they are potentially weakened. I personally don't feel comfortable if the gun is to be shot a lot or used for SD. Most videos on trigger jobs I've seen specifically recommends against reshaping or removing material from sear/hammer/striker surface. Stoning them is only to smooth out the imperfections. CZ custom uses a different hammer all together if the customer choose to go really light on the trigger. That hammer has the proper geometry with less positive caming action so all they have to do is to polish it without cutting through the surface hardening. I think Burwell welds a metal over travel stop, that might be the reason why some people feel like it has less slop then the stock polymer stop in th trigger guard. I don't personally have any experience with either but I can llive with the Apex + some polishing and stock springs. I just feel more comfortable with parts that already has the proper geometry and retains the surface hardening.
  20. Glad your uncle is OK. I was looking at CMP 1903s when they had them and they had this disclaimer regarding low serial number 1903s. http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/m1903.htm
  21. Depends on the gun. If it's nice enough from the factory or if it has collector's value I leave them alone.
