  1. That is very cool. Always wanted one. Where are you located if I want to see it in person ?
  2. No, its a private range. Membership is capped and filled so they are not accepting new members now.
  3. Its a private range I belong to in northern NJ.
  4. Thanks, just ordered a few gen 5 G17 mags to go with my Gen 5 G17. Over $50 and its free shipping too !
  5. I did wet tumbling for a little while. First in a smaller Tumbler B and later got the larger Franford Arsenal Rotarty Tumbler (the FART) so I could clean more at one time. Also got the Franklin dryer too which is pretty neat. A re-purposed food dehydrator if you will. Works well. Started with the SS pins and some would get stuck in the flash holes. Then went to larger pins that didnt get stuck. Then graduated to no pins at all and I would still get sparkly clean brass but the primer pockets would stay dirty w/o using pins. No doubt the wet tumbling process gets the brass clean as new. It’s beautiful ! After awhile I didnt appreciate the extra work involved with getting it that clean. And the truth is that it doesnt need to be that clean either. I shoot ALOT and to add these extra steps for me was a burden. I went back to dry media cleaning. Gets the job done and less work involved. I get to take it from the tumbler directly to my reloading press too. No wait time for it to dry.
  6. Long Gun Training based on upstate NY
  7. What caliber and what power scope ? You can shoot at 25 meters/yards and do a rough conversion to where you will hit at 100m or yards depending on the caliber. So if shooting 223/5.56 at 25 yards then the point of impact should be about 1.5” lower then the point of aim. With that said, I live in NNJ and your welcome to come up here and shoot at my 100 yard range one day.
  8. Its on the border. When I took a carbine class with Joe there was a Bethlehem LEO in the class. I asked him what town the range was in and he said Bethlehem. The range is actually owned by the Bethlehem PD and they do all their quals there. They hardly use it much so they allow civilians to use it for classes and shoot there on limited membership.
  9. That would be Bethlehem. The website is wrong.
  10. It’s not closed. It’s 1/2 mile from Easton Fish&Game.
  11. All club steel is permanently out there. He has movable target stands for paper targets that you can use. Never inquired about bringing personal reactive targets. Never saw the need for it actually.
  12. That place is wonderful. I was there last weekend. The owner made a few improvements over the winter. More target arrays, the lower range is a little wider and something simple that I really appreciated. On one of the IPSC targets at 1000 yards he has a light that stays on for a few seconds when you hit it. That’s a bonus when there are a bunch of shooters on the line and can’t see your splash or hear it because of all the background noise.
  13. Skateboard tape on the front strap and reliable mags from Tripp or wilson to start. Buy a couple thousand rounds of ammo. Shoot that. Then figure out from there what you want to upgrade. At that point, you will have a better idea what YOU want done.
  14. Yeah, I got a 460 Rowland too on a caliber specific Wilson Combat with a comp. And I rarely shoot 460 Rowland through it. Mostly 45acp for the convenience factor and lower cost per round. The 460 Rowland is a heck of a cartridge though.
  15. Springfield armory used to make a production 1911 with a 6” long slide and side ported barrel. They rated that 1911 for the 45 super or you could shoot 45acp as well. I dont think you needed a spring change because of the ported barrel. Fred Craig, the infamous 1911 gunsmith, made a Craig 45 Super Duty on a caspian double stack frame years ago. It also had a ported barrel with a 5” barrel. I have one of those custom 1911s and have only fired 45acp and 45acp +p ammo through it. Apparently, no spring change required either because of the ports. I bought 45 super brass from starline but never loaded up any rounds.
  16. How many rounds does it take to wear out a 308 f class barrel in your experience? Acceptable accuracy and velocity for the sport in consideration.
  17. Very nice. What bullet head are you using and whats the load ? 600 yard F class I assume.
  18. Contact him and see what he will do about a private party. Phone may be better then email for communication. Personally , I only bring bolt guns there since I bring my scar and ar’s to new holland. Others may do otherwise and can’t speak for them.
  19. Club steel from 50 yards out placed about every 100 yards. Some swingers, mostly static. He paints it daily so you should see your hits if you get there early in the morning when its still pristine. Pretty flat and wide out to 700 then it starts to incline. 1000 is up on a mountain top away from the rest of the range. Different arrays and sizes of targets. From 400/in its more of a shooting gallery. I think he has a silouette of a full size deer or elk at 400. After 400 there is less variety but usually a full size ipsc (or similar) and one/two smaller plates for more of a challenge. Full size IPSC at 1000 and 12” plates. He had a 6’x6’ sheet of steel up there at 1000 which was nice to see where you were hitting if not sure but I think he took it down. There are target stands at 50, 100 etc if you want to put up paper.
  20. Yeah, its not cheap but its a lot closer then driving out 3.5-4 hours to Mifflin in PA and spending an overnight at a cheap motel to make it worth it. My time is pretty important to me. I’m there and back in 1/2 a day. I shoot a lot of long range rifle and when I’m there I’m done in two hours. I have a plan of what I have in mind and little time is wasted. Scope is zeroed. Dope is solid and proven. Ammo is tuned to the rifle. Weather conditions taken off the Kestrel. No guessing why I did not impact. I’m done in 50-60 rounds of bolt rifle. Record my data and hits then pay Eddy. That should be enough shooting for anyone at distance with a scope. More then that and you are just turning money into noise.
  21. Sheepdog warrior. Catskill, ny. Goes to 1000y. Public hourly rate. Eddy is the owner. Good guy.
  22. Thanks @Mreal75 ! This IWC Pilot has quickly become my favorite higher end watch. The history behind it, the readability of the dial, and the obscure ness of what it is to the masses puts it high on the list.
  23. I got this system. It’s great but takes time and practice to use it properly. Reserve 20-30 minutes to sharpen one knife. I only use it on the upstroke too. When I did the downstroke I caught my fingers a couple times for a pretty deep laceration. My thumb got cut so deeply that I should have gotten sutures. Fixed it myself. Again, be careful with this product.
  24. If your budget tops at around $1300 then I would get a Springfield TRP. TRP stands for “THE Right Pistol”.
