  1. Just remember most of these SOB do not have a soul to begin with........ Just send them to hell with whatever works for you
  2. I love mine have put over 5000+ rounds thru it and runs like a clock, really great for first time shooters transitioning them from a handgun. Very accurate. Bought mine in 9MM as the cost of ammo makes it a good choice for me plus I had a bunch of it. Is it kinda weird looking , and I wish it took 1911 mags than I would have got the .45. All in all a nice little carbine. Sure wish I could find one of the old marlin camp carbines......
  3. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Springfield, VA, August 7, 2014 August 7th is Purple Heart Day - a Day to Honor America's Combat Wounded and Fallen Heroes Each year on August 7th, Americans pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. The Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces that has been wounded or died as a result of a wound in battle. This now includes those persons who died in captivity while a prisoner of war (POW). We now celebrate Purple Heart Day on the anniversary of its inception, August 7th. On this day it is our patriotic duty to remember and recognize those people willing to serve our country, no matter the price. This year, many States, Counties, and Cities; sport and entertainment entities; colleges and universities, and many other patriotic entities across the nation who have proclaimed themselves as Purple Heart communities will pause in recognition of the service and sacrifice of their local sons and daughters. Their commemoration of Purple Heart Day will be a reminder to all Americans that there is a price for the freedoms we enjoy and honor is due to those who gave their all in defense of those freedoms. This year, many Major League Baseball teams will pay special homage to their local Purple Heart recipients during special pre-game and 7th inning ceremonies. The organization now known as the "Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc.," (MOPH) was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all combat wounded veterans and active duty men and women who have received the decoration.Chartered by the Congress, The MOPH is unique among Veteran Service Organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote Patriotism, Fraternalism, and the Preservation of America's military history. Most importantly, through veteran service, they provide comfort and assistance to all Veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the VA, those who are homeless, and those requiring employment assistance. Programs of the MOPH include VA Volunteer Service, First Responder Recognition, JROTC Leadership Award, Scholarships, Americanism, Purple Heart Trail and Cities, Welfare, and numerous community service programs, all with the objective of service to Veterans and their families. 4. Checked mine, 9mm with a round count of 5000+ and fortunately no crack....... thanks for the info. Take care.
  5. Military order of the Purple Heart.
  6. BLF as an FYI I went with the short barrel, easy to carry and no Apparent effect on accuracy. Was worried about the flipper on the bolt that is designed to pick up the round from the magazine but after almost 500 rounds fired there is no apparent wearing or issues. Not as accurate or as finished as say a browning x bolt but it makes a nice beater rifle. Regards and stay safe
  7. I picked one up just to use as an alternative to my scout rifles as the 223/5.56 were cheaper and readily available, action got much better with use and it is very accurate out to 300 yds have also been using it for groundhogs in Pa. and it has been great. Handy weight, decent trigger, and nice option to an AR platform for this caliber and PA legal chucks, yotes. For me it was money well spent, love shooting off hand at balloons and steel out to the above cited range. Wish I had further opertinities to see how it would be out to 500 yds. So far all of the chucks have been under 250 yds. Also like having the iron sights available when I remove the scope with the QD rings. Good luck if you get one.
  8. McBeth, hobbies come and go, however skill at arms needs to be maintained thru out ones life time. Over fifty years ago my dad gave me my first firearm, taught me how to use it along with the wood skills of a hunter. I firmly believe that the things he showed me/taught me served me well in combat. Over the years I have been involved in many shooting sports that in the end for me just mainly evolved around maintaining a skill set level. I was lucky in that my job paid for lots and lots of shooting and training for almost 40 years and loved every moment of it. Focus on maintaining your skill level and the rest will fall into place. If you need more reasons then this look to history or the nightly news to give you the incentive to maintain your skills at arm. We live in a free country and this alone is reason enough to own, maintain and shoot firearms. JMOP. Take care and good luck.
  9. No tax but the price for ammo was at least 2 dollars a box higher than the hamburg store for just about everything that I was looking for, also it seemed that hamburg routinely has lots of things reduced where as not so for the Delaware store. Maybe after it is open for a few months things will stabilize. Did notice on a recent flyer that they were advertising sales at both locations. All in all still a nice option.
  10. This is sad on so many levels, try to do things the right way and you get treated like a domestic terrorist. The country is going to hell in a hand basket and NJ leads the way. Good luck I hope you prevail.

diamond ,thats pretty good, would make a good bumper sticker, kind of like "Got Sig" in the meantime provided the person in question was confronted with actual enemies and they had justifiable cause it might be better to be shooting then showing them....... JMOP

Mag .....3 inch 1911's can be made very reliable , emphasis on made to be reliable. Most people do not take the time and or effort to tune one to run well enough to justify the time and effort. Granted most Mil spec 5 inch guns can be good to go right out of the box and the further we get from the JMB design plus the ammo intended for use in the original design FMJ you start getting issues like FTE,FTF,stove pipes etc. Like I said for me they work for everyday carry and I am confident that they will do the job at hand. The extra barrel length and grip length especially when driving can be a PIA this coupled with the weight of the standard steel 1911 add at least one extra mag and a flashlight and you are humping a lot of weight each and everyday summer and winter. I have found that the alum. frame model in the 3 inch size work for me 365 . I am not a fan of the ambi safety on a carry 1911 as I have found that they are just to easy to bump off during every day activities in a IWB holster, but again thats just me and I think on a carry gun 1911 format carried as they were intended the grip safety is a necessity and would not alter that at all. Like I said when I had to train with minimal availability to clean between series and very high round counts I do not use an alum. frame models and the shortest one I have ran is the 4.25 inch length...... Most of the internet no no that you are referring to revolve around this..... Find me someone who is willing to stand in front of one and that will be a real short list..... JMOP Take care and be safe.

Vlad,Understand and I knew where you were going with this. One question. How many of these tricked out guns get carried everyday? Granted some of what you list can and may be applied to some carry guns (however I would bet a dollar to a donut that most people who carry on a regular bases do not add much beside the gun they bought and truth be told they would be better served buying lots more ammo, practice like they carry . IMOP You do not need most of what the high speed low drag so called tactical operators are selling. There are no buzzers, timers, threat indicators,or course briefing in a gun fight.

Vlad I would venture to say that any gun in hand that is used to defend you and yours would/should be considered a "combat handgun" or for that matter a combat shotgun, rifle or golf club......... Not to be @#$% just curious what competition enhancements that are applied are done so to enhance reliability and use ability.....Grips,checkered front straps, better magazines ???? just wondering. Deer I realize what you meant about the pants just wanted to mention it as you would be surprised at the number of guns that come out of holsters or lay on the floor around some cops ankles while taking care of business........ Good belt and holster will solve most of what you were asking about as it relates to carry. Take care.

DeerSlayer just a few points concerning range toys/comp guns..... The 1911 is and always has been a combat gun, however with the advent of all of the supposed new bells and whistles and throw in the various competitions many of the arms including the 1911 format have involved into something else all together. All handguns are a weapon of second choice or last resort and more importantly as it relates to EDC they are concealable, easily carried and can go just about anywhere etc. This is true dating all the way back to cap and ball revolvers ,single ball single shot flintlocks etc. If we knew we were going to be in a fight we would arm ourselves with a rifle possibly a shotgun. Regarding dropping the trousers thing........IMOP never and I mean never drop the trousers with the handgun attached no matter what holster, what style holster handgun etc. It is a recipe for disaster. IF and when general issue CC should ever come train regularly like you carry, (i.e. in everyday clothes, with the carry holster and how you carry the extra ammo .Obtain CC insurance and don't worry about the loss of the weapon...... your lawyer will take care of that......... Provided we are found not guilty of any wrong doing. JMOP

Kimbers like all firearms can and well fail. I have two series 2 with the swartzs safeties and one without. Granted Kimbers due command a higher price however for me they combine many of the things that I am looking for that are not or were not available when I got mine for strictly carry purposes. Two of mine are ultras and after breakin I have have had no issues and carry one every day and I know that any of them will serve me well in a fight. Handguns are a tool of convince if I knew I was going to be engaged in a gunfight I would rather have a rifle or a shotgun both of which are far superior for the task at hand or better yet not be in the position in the first place. Much of the net is full of horror stories about Kimbers in general ,series 2 in particular , short 1911's (they can be picky) etc. take it for what it is worth..... Most of these people probably shoot a box or two maybe every couple months or so and have a litany of opinions. I trust no firearms for self defense until they have proven themselves after approx 1000-1500 rounds. Even after that any gun can and may fail on the next round...... I like the ultra series as the weight is manageable and the grip and barrel length work for me..... Now if I am going to train for five full days with minimal availability to clean and lube the gun I would rather go with all steel full length 5 inch 1911. But thats me...... In the mean time I carry my ultra carry every day......... Take this for what its worth ......just another opinion. What ever you do spend far more money on ammo, train regularly like you carry and if and when you have to defend you or yours fight to win. Good luck and take care.
  17. Fox you are correct, unfortunately I think this state as well as others like Kalifornia, NY etc would go out of there way to try to prosecute someone for a self defense case. Pretty sad when the real defendant or their family can sue you for criminal acts that they participated in. Lost future income, so they rob and beat and kill people they end up dead or in the hospital and the family sues for damages go figure…………..
  18. 70 GTO thanks, always a good idea to be covered just in case. Deer slayer not sure about CCW USA or USCCA I have read both positive and negative info so not sure how it is run, will check again as I understand they do state that they will provide legal defense and bail funds but have never got any information on individuals using same. OGG you have found the USCCA to be worth the funds? thanks for the info.
  19. One thing to be aware of is that all the policies I checked on you will need to front the money first for your legal defense and then if you are found not guilty of a crime you will be reimbursed, anyone find a policy that provides money for bail, lawyers fees, expert witnesses upfront. Over the years I have had the FOP policy, the NRA etc and all were roughly the same conditions……. Like PK I settled with the NRA LEO policy. Homeowners had no rider for this type coverage. 70gto If you find something good please advise, thanks.
  20. vortex minus the magnifier, great weapon mines digest everything. Good luck with yours.
  21. Just found this thread, I shoot at this place all the time, it is a PGC range about 5 miles from Cabelas off of RT 78, never encountered anyone like this, most times I have the range to myself except during hunting season. Me and these guys would have a real problem. Just based on the video they are violating a half dozen of the PGC range rules. This is the kind of crap that gets the public ranges closed…….
