  1. Honestly, for 1000 bucks you can pretty much have your pick of a complete medium-high quality AR. I purchased my RRA for $950 which is the Operator 2 Elite. You wont be getting top quality for that price but u can def. find something good and reliable. The 1000 dollar mark is the middle range i would say, once you go over that your money goes towards specialty items specific to the use of the rifle, higher tolerances, better barrels, better materials, better gas systems or piston systems. The Daniel defense lite rail i want costs 300 bucks alone, so you get the picture. Colt makes some really nice bare bone platforms around that price, and you can build upon a top quality platform as you go and see fit. The great thing about these are you can spend more money on a top notch plat form, and spread the cost out with saving money on things you may have bought and not needed.
  2. Probably. Once your fingerprinted in NJ with the new system, your there forever at the click of a button. I might freak if they told me to go pay another 60 bucks so they can replace my fingerprints with the same ones... your prints do not change over time so that is probably the dumbest thing ever. I could see years ago when there was no central system, the PD's held onto your prints, so they charged you every time you went to a new PD. And apparently you need to be scanned into the system, they wont manually do it for your ink prints. FYI- this system was introduced just a couple years ago, and some PD's just upgraded at the last minute in nov. when they were required by state. So if you never got digital prints taken then next you apply the will probably tell you to get new print taken.
  3. Do you guys hold it hold it like a pistol or do you use the mag well for the forward hand? Damn, they want 800 for it! that's almost the price of a complete rifle. I was thinking of getting a lower and having it registered as a pistol and going from there, i havn't looked into it but it seems the biggest issue is finding the right barrel and gas system.
  4. you can buy a 14.5 inch barrel and have 1.5 inch break since the break must be permanently attached it becomes part of the barrel and the muzzle is considered the end of the break. I would rather have the extra barrel length personally.
  5. Are they legal in NJ? Looking through the laws i'm thinking no? Mag out side the grip + a shroud over the barrel = NOPE
  6. lol, the first thing that came up was a %50 off bikini wax
  7. Honestly, Mr. Trump can suck a fat one I cannot for the life of me take him seriously in any way shape or form, that comb over takes the cake. The man is an opportunist nothing more nothing less.
  8. I didn't mean to sound ignorant, but its a different story and stress level when people are shooting back at you, and many lives are in danger.
  9. It's good that they hold them to such high standards in proficiency, but are they given tactical training and response? Some may say the most powerful tool is training. Just as an example: the veteran 0fficer that shot the father of that drug dealer because he hit the trigger instead of the light switch on his gun. I'm more about these guys knowing how to take over a situation then just having the tools to do it and the proficiency to hit a target. I'm not saying there not trained to respond to these situations, but what use is any weapon when your not trained to be in the **** of the situation.
  10. I wish magpul made a free float handguard i really like the feel and look of them.
  11. I agree, but what qualifies them and to what extent? An officer highly trained with a handgun can be more effective then a poorly trained officer with a rifle. To me it's more about training then firepower. What worried me about this is they it seemed to me that they just want the firepower, they didnt mention the cost of training and or how they would do it. I would rather see them spend money on training the officers on how to handle these types of situations first.
  12. Like i said im all for them having them, but if there not trained like swat, they shouldnt be acting like swat. They should use the weapons to maintain a parameter and keep people safe until swat or who ever gets there to take care of the situation. No gun comes inherit with training and you never know what your running into. One instance i can think of would be the guy who rob the bank with his AK and drum mags + full body armor. A couple AR's would have stopped that guy much faster. I cant stop thinking tho about a couple officers with AR's and inadequate training running into a building and getting shot because they were under false pretenses and told they have the weapon to do the job, but little or no tactical training. I'm just trying to point out the argument can go 2 ways respectively. A better option would be to require all officers to participate in SWAT training, not necessarily be swat, but do the training yearly. I mean then they can buy the guns themselves and write them off as work expense.
  13. Yup, any and every AR owner out there knows its a trade off(or should), ease of maintenance and extended life over accuracy. Either or could be negligible, but i side with accuracy since i clean meticulously and do not shoot enough to wear the barrel quickly.
  14. My only issue with this is that we are treating our Police officers as specially trained units like swat. I'm all for them having rifles as a means of back up and protection, but in the event of a situation a rifle would really be needed i fail to see how your typical police officer is the top candidate to take action with in the situation. Just like noted above the FBI gave the PD a bad rating based on the performance at 6 flags, well that's what happens when you expect your foot patrol to take care of a situation that requires highly coordinated groups of individuals... ya know like SWAT. Personally, i would rather see them spend the money on training there officers better.. i would take a well trained officer with a hand gun over one with a rifle and has no idea of how to use it in a tactical situation.
  15. Chrome line barrels reduce accuracy, and this topic of interest is to increase accuracy. And to clear up another issue, you can bench rest any rifle you want, especially a S/S 24" barreled AR.
  16. I was thinking the same thing. Who knows who the people he is testifying against are, there is nothing that secures the fact people won't be coming after him for his testimony. I understand the position of him being a victim and there is an inherit factor of insecurity, but that's nothing that can't be trained for firearms.
  17. Your absolutely right, Billions of dollars are wasted on illegals. Let me put it this way, if you are illegal and have one kid, that's roughly 100k that tax payers get to pick up in educational fees, and thats probably lower then actual. Figure in another couple kids, and the tax payers are sporting well more then they can support. AND thats jst education... Guess who sports the under-insured bill as well. Your right too, it's sad that it's come to a point where we have to feel so negative about immigrants, they ruined it for themselves. I feel really bad for the immigrants that get heat from people when there actually doing it by the books and paying taxes.
  18. wow.. the nerve of that guy! First off, Mexico, secure your own damn boarders just like every one else... we're just as sick of the drugs and everything else illegal coming into this country from mexico. Secondly, take the time out of your busy day to understand our Constitution, as result you wont look so f-in stupid on national TV.
  19. Can you find out what the application process was for the show? kinda interested how they pick the contestants. But either way give him our support!
  20. It's funny, when your around the gun culture all this crap just makes no sense, your right man, we need to educate the people ourselves. I have been so doing myself. Since the aqusition of my ID and guns i have gotten 2 people to get there's and have influenced many to look into it, many more would have guns too if they had the money to invest. I'm not about just telling people to get them, most already want them, just dont know how to do it, what the laws are, ect. I inform and they dis-conform to stupid america.
  21. I would join every pro-gun site i could if i wasnt labeled and put on some list that facebook will sell to some anit-gun organization, and every one else who decides to buy the info. tinfoil hat ftw. Unfortunately, facebook makes all of its money on organizing people into groups and selling there info, huge marketing scam.
  22. whats the action release lever for? i see it him cycle the action with out using it... i must be missing something.
  23. There's nothing that states they have to give you an extension, but then again I've never seen someone denied an extension.
