  1. I don't think there is anything wrong with having the light on the gun, i do find it hard to believe the gun went off from turning it on. The design of the on/off switch is a vertical turning tab. If anything the design makes it very easy to be turned on and off as it straddles the trigger guard. I would be upset if they stopped using them tho, police need to have the ability to light there way through a situation with out the burden of loosing mobility, and unless they can manipulate the beam quickly and effectively they are painting a target on themselves. Decide for yourself i guess.
  2. Yeah there are tons to choose from, i believe we have a thread in here with a good number of NJ legal stocks. My RRA operator stock is the fixed version, and its a mid sized stock to fit my size, i could have gotten the adjustable one and pinned it, but the fixed one actually looked better anyway.
  3. I'm not a huge fan of them either. If i had a SBR i'd probably use one since there is less weight on the forward hand. I do like the magpul line up of accessories tho. Maybe it's just my stature, but it's less straining on my arm to hold it traditionally. Also it may depend on your hand guard, i have the RRA half quad free float, so the first couple inches from the mag is a hand grip that nice a smooth, then the bottom and side rails start. If i had a full rail i might consider the angled magpul like vlad has with it pulled all the way back.
  4. Same sign at willow brook Mall in Wayne at possible one of the most worst places to put one. right where rt80 46 and 23 merge.
  5. lol, nothing a snow blower can't fix. Good one tho! i hate the leaves more then the snow thats for sure! Oh how true is it the day after you clean the yard all the f-ckn leaves magically re-appear.
  6. I've never really understood the "permanent" rule. All the role pins and holes epoxy and glue in the world can be removed. The one thing i think that they will scrutinize, is that they(LEO ATF who ever) look specifically for pins that go through the stock and guide rail on the buffer tube. They may see's this more from the perspective that it is not actually a fixed stock, it is a telescoping stock that has been modified to not move. Sounds ridiculous and stupid but it is what it is. With that being said, the only way they would figure out the mode of modification would be to actually examine the stock. How comfortable you feel on them getting there hands on it will determine whether its worth taking the risk.
  7. I now will never buy a chevy, and if i owned one... i would sell it.
  8. The only way to wear out a spring in this situation is either continued use or over compressing it. No matter how long a spring is in a certain position...if its within it's elasticity it will not degrade much at all.
  9. DO you enjoy paved roads? or a place to have your car inspected for free? People dont work for free. Vlad make sure the car can't been seen from the road too or at least the plates, i've herd of cars being towed from peoples driveways because they didn't have plates on it or the registration was expired. Usually due to town ordinances.
  10. Unfortunately the shift of burden towards the state has already happened, regardless of whether they require uniforms. They already require a dress code, which is disciplined through one or more child probably every day. Kids push the boundaries as to see how much they can get away with, and some parents just don't care. If every parent had the same mindset as you, we wouldn't even have this problem to begin with.
  11. Sooo.. if your kid came home cursing and spewing profanity because he read it on someones shirt you wouldnt be opposed to that? Students have a right to learn in a non-offensive environment. And besides, let not kid ourselves, a couple kids didnt enter a school wearing a shirt that said sex, or a slayer shirt, and the idea that every one should wear a uniform was born. The problem is... its been an ongoing issue. if you want to wear offensive clothing then be home schooled where no one will care if you learn in your underwear. As for the rest of the world, we owe it to the students to have a place they can learn with out distraction. Throw on what ever you want when u get home. I've seen some pretty dumb shirts on kids that i dont find offensive, but then again i dont really care, i can't say the same for many other people. There seems to be many different aspects for implementing uniforms. If the purposed of the school is to educate, then its focus should be on that, if in anyway a uniform improved the overall quality of an educational institute, then i would say its very piss poor to not at least juggle the idea. This is not about controlling anyone, its about getting rid of superficial beliefs surrounding the way we dress.
  12. When i looked around for conversion kits, i found that i could get a buckmark or ruger for the same price.. At least for the pistols i considered + conversion kit. Also thanks for that tid bit about the hi powers, i'll have to mention it to my friend.
  13. The Beretta 92a1 ships to NJ wither either 3-15rd or 3-10rd mags, it's not listed on there site, but the local shops around here have them with 3-15rds. Maybe they make an exception for NJ, but i've seen all current production 92's with 15rd mags in stores. Some places have the 10rders some had the 15rders.
  14. Which is exactly why they are pushing for this. The people who feel it is easier to let other people do all the work are the parents, and then they get pissed when the school calls home and says hey your daughter is dressed like a slut come get her. And then they start law suits based on harassment charges and etc. It's really disgusting. Teachers/Schools get sued all the time over following procedure and policies. If they don't work then you have to try a different strategy. Leaving it up to the parents is probably a sure way to achieve nothing. Not that everyone is a bad parent, but kids will always be deviant and do what they want unless they know better then. Maybe i just live in a place where parents think its cool to have a 12yr old who dresses like there 25, but when your actually 25 and see this it's quite disturbing. They want there kids to be popular just as much as the kids themselves. I mean when your that young, guess who's buying the clothing?
  15. Get a line up of what pistols you find aesthetically appeasing, make it long! Narrow the search based on reliability and function. Then get your hands on them! get a feel what what feels good in your hand. Then try and shoot them. Try and not put a max price on what you want, my friend found a browning hi-power he says fits like a glove yet refuses to buy it because its 200 over his budget, why not get something that you really like? Like said above, the only issue with ammo right now is price. Your budget should include the pistol + ammo. You will with out doubt spend the most $$ on ammo, so if your giving yourself a budget from the get go, i would say find a affordable caliber first. I would love a pistol with 45acp caliber, but i couldn't afford to shoot it enough to justify owning. For 20 bucks i can unload 100rds of 9mm, a 45 would be around $50 per 100. (same brand ammo)I also prefer to have a nice stock of ammo too, i never buy ammo at the range(way too expensive)
  16. I don't think were "cop bashing", just trying to put it into real life perspective. Like you said, the tax payers will most likely pay for this "accident". I'm going to try and shut my mouth for the remainder of this thread as to not offend anyone, but i just want to say that NYC is pretty notorious for having trigger happy cops, so that really doesn't help the mentality of the people when it happens again.
  17. There are two reason i can think of for implementing uniforms. the first being what ever one else said is to create a uniformly dressed student body. The second would be to get rid of the skanky clothing kids wear. I've been working in schools for the past year, and holy damn those kids dress like there on a street corner. The schools get a lot of heat from parents because they discipline students who dress inappropriately and im guessing there getting really sick of it. I wore a uniform for school until i went to college. I can honestly say, no one got picked on for what they wore. And the girls were still trying hike up there skirts. Yeah kids will always be picked on for one reason or another, but giving them one less reason to pick on a kid is a plus in my book. The thing that people seem to overlook is that the kids are in school to learn, nothing more nothing less. There not there to pronounce there unique ability to dress. The schools are not taking away from a students personality or overall uniqueness by putting them into a uniform. If a student has to be dressed a certain way to act a certain way then i would say priorities need changing. Do you want your son looking at some skanky dressed girl all day instead of paying attention to his school work?
  18. Well, no information was given about why he shot, so i guess there figuring that out right now... and they'll let us know when they come up with a good enough excuse. I'm sure they would be eager to tell the media that it was a justified shooting so i take it.. it was not. There calling it accidental, or at least the media is.

    help deciding

Yeah let us know how it works out for you.
  20. Budsgunshop has a policy in place that they don't ship anything to NJ with mags over 15rds, and they will not replace or take the mags out....Been there, so i know your frustration. Now a local FFL will order it for you regardless of mag size, they just wont let you take them. As for trading them or getting credit for them is up to the FFL. Most i talked to said they will just take them out.. and sell legal ones there after, ussually no credit is given because they cannot sell the mags, and it would be more work for them to find a buyer out side on NJ.
  21. I'm curious as to where you got this misinformation? Although it is probably a good idea to transport unloaded mags. NJ statute doesn't state that a magazine is considered part of the gun.
  22. I would worry more about your soon to be room mate bubba then a fire if you got some of those in NJ
  23. I'm 6months away from being certified to be a teacher, i would love to carry on the job for my own protection and as result the students would fall under that protection as well. I'm more for having it locked in a drawer in the class room when occupied. I dont see this as a means to protect the students as much as its a means to expand the protection of ones self and consequently the protection of innocent bystanders(students). I don't see this going anywhere in NJ tho. I dont understand some of the arguements here tho, if a state allows ccw then why should it end at school property? You can't say that you wouldnt encounter the same issues on the street then in a class room. Just becuase an attacker is a minor doesnt change the fact that your life can still be in danger.
  24. I have a lenovo T60p, its a couple years old, takes for ever to boot up and down, but when it's on, its really fast and stable. Cosmetically its pretty durable but then again i baby my electronics. I think the lag on and off comes from the surreal amount of crap programs that come with it since it business orientated. It comes with a lot of programs, i've been slowy turning them all off at boot.
