Think that through a little. If they just try to ban center fire, magazine fed semi-automatics it won't get through the House. It just won't - it's too broad. If they try for AWB II and keep it the same as it was under Clinton, that won't pass because it didn't do anything last time around. So what are they gonna do? Ban hi-cap mags? No, they won't. No, nothing is going to happen. The NRA will rip the throat out of any politician who turns.

You realize that if you use the MOE that you will not have a free-floated barrel, right? Could make a difference. Have you considered a PRI carbon fiber handguard or something like that? With something like that you can just put rail sections where you need them. If you choose one of the longer models, the front sight/gas block can be replaced with a lo-pro gas block or a cut down front sight. Then you just need a flip-up front like the Troy or Magpul. Makes for a light rifle that's free floated.

Yeah - the BCG's are an option. That way you're not forced to buy a component that you may already have.

BCM never includes a BCG with their uppers. They never have. AR's are not all the same and you get what you pay for from BCM. They are one of the very few outfits that follow the spec for the AR. Most other makers cut corners during the manufacturing process. Again, you get what you pay for. If you find a complete upper for, say, $500 including the BCG, you have to ask yourself what the differences are between that upper and one that sells for $900 w/o the BCG. The answer is that folks like BCM adhere to a standard and the cheap gun builders do not. Then ask yourself what your life is worth.

The BCM stuff is $900 for a reason. You get what you pay for.

Why get all wrapped around the axle about a new ban? There isn't going to be one. The American public has a short attention span. Once all the funerals are over this will just fade away. In addition, most of the news stories I've seen on TV today have already begun to shift their focus on how F'd up the kid and his family were, not so much on 'black guns'. There will be some discussion on the subject of weapons, but it'll fade away to nothing eventually. Relax folks.
