That's cool it just helps to know approx where you are in NJ so folks can direct you to the closest shop/range that has what you are looking for. Anyway I have both a Rock Island (lower cost) and The S&W performance center (mid level cost) As lunker said it's kinda of useless to just shout out 1911's as there are almost limitless choices. When I was shopping for a mid-leveI cost 1911 I was fortunate enough to be able to shot over a dozen different 1911's that belonged to my friends and I just kept coming back to the S&W perf center, it just felt great in my hands and I shot it well, so that is what I ended up getting. I also feel the Rock Island offers a nice bang for the buck in a 1911. I am located in Hunterdon County if you would like to try out these or another 1911 model my friends might have, shoot me a p/m and we can set something up.

That's easy, simplest way to keep said lad in check is to take his stick away from him when he gets back.

Not trying to start an arguement, just curious about your set up. Magpul says this about the front sight: NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues. Front MBUS must be mounted to a railed fore end on the same plane as the receiver rail. Because of this the sight is also not compatible with MOE Hand Guards. Now I know you said you put a YHM riser on it but I would think that would still transfer the heat from the gas block into the sight. Again just curious how hard you may have run it, because IMHO I would think you would have trouble with heat after running several mags through it.

As you know know "cheap" and "quality" often do not go hand and hand. Therefore I would state the main intended use of the AR you want to build and then members can advise you from there. Big difference between a SHTF build (which seems to be getting more popular) verses a target/plinking fun gun. IMHO of course.

You walk to up the officer or trooper on the scene. You explain to them that you were on the way to the range and have firearms in the vehicle and now your vehicle is in/op and needs to be towed. Ask them what is the best course of action to get your firearms home. I hate to disappoint the "cops are out to get me crowd" but I bet 99% of them would respond the way the trooper in post # 16 did.

This would make a great "It could happen tomorrow" episode you should submit your story. I would edit it with one change. The government caused the accident, slips you a mickey, you forget where you were going and are charged with illegally transporting a firearm and all your firearms are confiscated.
