  1. Lambertville......small town with great restaurants and bars on the Delaware River. Some interesting shopping and sights and good little B&B's.
  2. Good luck David. I know there are a few of us in the Monroe area that have been waiting for word of your progress.
  3. I personally don't have an issue divulging the fact that I own guns to anyone....If they have a problem with that fact it remains their problem not mine. However I don't go out of my way to start a conversation about firearms or my owning them and in the rare occurrence that it does come up among those who are not in my close circle of friends it's usually those friends that mention it in passing. The reactions have been mixed but for the most part I get "You don't appear the type" what ever the "type" is.....after that I leave well enough alone till someone approaches me with other questions or thoughts.
  4. Proteins in general is up and rising... not only due to factors like diseases, transportation costs, feed, distribution but the emerging markets in Asia who traditionally only considered any meats and fish as seasoning but now have the resources to purchase and consume the best of North American beef, pork and global seafood as a main instead of merely just a side or token protein. This establishes prices, availability and distribution of some of the things we take for granted as traditionally inexpensive and readily at hand and will continue to ramp up in the future.
  5. I was 13 and went to spend a summer in Elkhorn Manitoba on a farm in the middle of nowhere. The owner of the farm,a friend of my father's took me into the basement where he had a collection of rifles and asked me to choose 1. I chose a .22 bolt action with the coolest wood furniture and a scope that you loaded 16 rounds in a tube under the barrel and spent the rest of the summer aiming at and missing squirrels and skunks. The next time I picked up a firearm was in 2009 after I bought a Sig p250 9mm, a box of ammo and rented a lane at Shoreshot.
  6. ...I call BS... When was the last time you saw a "good ole boy" with ear gauges,a advanced vocabulary and in need of captions? Youtube strikes once again................
  7. I've ordered for them in the past, they boast a comprehensive catalog of mags at decent prices, service and shipping was quite good also.
  8. Europe is on the brink,Scandinavia is just beginning to regret their open door immigration policies brought on by a misguided, altruistic and guilt driven populace who have yet to grasp the complex social and traditional tribal cultures they have welcomed in and have no knowledge or skill set to deal with........rape largely among their guest's own peoples is the least of their problems.
  9. As much as some want to lump Norway and Sweden as the same country.......hell include Denmark while you're at it. They aren't. Sweden is supposed to have the highest reported incidences of rape in Europe attributed to every thing from a large Muslim immigrant populace practicing some traditional coming of age ritual to a widening of what constitutes rape but so far most stats are questionable at best IMHO.
  10. It does but it comes at a price both monetary {35 to 40% tax rate} and socially{a quintessential "nanny" state }... I did enjoy my mandatory 12 weeks of paid holidays,"free"healthcare and education, all the winter activities and the ability to be in just about any part of Europe within a couple days drive and perhaps I will spend at least part of my time there in the future but as a permanent home at this stage in my life, Norway is laughably...just too foreign for me.
  11. ........that's why we drink.......
  12. I moved back to Norway for 2 1/2 years to re establish residency in order to inherit some properties my uncle left my brother and I. Gave it the old college try but after almost 28 years as a US resident and admittedly used to our freedoms, rights and perceived privacies, living permanently in a constitutional monarchy with very socialist leanings was not for me....not to mention 4 months of frozen darkness and a palpable anti American slant. My life does not revolve around firearms or the ability to shoot them but shotguns and rifles were always available and ammo cheaper in Sweden, that and booze.
  13. Congrats Damjam...................... I took the oath 15 years ago with no regrets and am a proud American. I am however one of the estimated 5.7 million Americans who hold dual citizenship because..............well just because.
  14. It's ligit........My now deceased mother had a bulk settlement for a pension from a company that closed back in the early 80's. It sat for many years held by NY State until I saw some report on the TV about all the monies left unclaimed. It took awhile and I had to submit quite a bit of paperwork but was eventually able to claim a rather large sum.
  15. Good report. We did a similar trip last summer with stops in Atlanta,Savanna,Outer banks, Charleston,Sarasota and did find some very good places to eat using Yelp and Chowhound with a few fine road side BBQ pits and gas station juke joints, like your bunch we don't do fast food if we can possibly help it. I too did not see any open carriers even though some of the good ole boy's trucks did have gun racks but only holding fishing rods and baseball bats. Ammo was non existent at that time at every Wally world we stopped at and there were quite a few.....What popular calibers we did find was of the very expensive JHP and personal defensive verity. The South is indeed a very special place with very special people but I've visited and worked there over the years and have a fondness for it's quirks.
  16. ......in a non literal interpretation of the immortal bard of Avon's words..... "Me thinks thou doth protest too much".
  17. Okay....let's just say your "Spidey sense" is correct for a moment......that would leave 3 possibilities IMHO...... 1: The woman is an idiot and just couldn't wait to show off her brand new firearm and Philadelphia CCW permit that she chose a NJ cop to volunteer her proudly earned legal right regardless of the consequences because........she has a little extra cash and about 7 years to spare. 2: She's a plant by some yet unnamed and shadowy pro NJ CCW organization who is not only funding her legal bills in order to shame NJ into must issue CCW rights for all but maintained her as a "sleeper" just building her reputation and awaiting the right opportunity to cut her loose with the understanding it was basically a "Mission Impossible" undertaking and will disavow her if Nappen fails. 3: Your "Spidey sense" ain't worth shit. I'm not sticking up for the young lady as she clearly made some very questionable choices but I don't understand why some on this forum choose the character assassination route? Could it be because some" high and tight" LEO chose to forgo discretion in this case and subjected this admitted not too bright individual to the injustices we hoped we would not endure and indeed lambast at every opportunity?...or is it just the "Black Thing"?
  18. ....so "sealed" is still accountable to the present charge? and if sealed why and how would PK90's source have access to it presumably?
  19. Precisely my point.....and why I question what PK90's source has to add to the equation.
  20. I seldom if ever jump on any bandwagon but was asking if whatever your source divulged about the young lady's past was sufficient to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of NJ"s laws but still qualify for a Pennsylvania CCW permit?......and in turn justify her subsequent prosecution not only in the courts but seemingly by you and some others on this forum? Just askin......
  21. ...and by "just say'n" does it negate the fact that the laws in NJ is any less obtrusive and idiotic? Or perhaps you're implying the young lady is being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the laws because of something found in her past? If so, it would appear that what ever she is accused of or prosecuted for was trivial enough to still qualify for a CCW permit in Philadelphia there by making your "just say'n" somewhat inconsequential in it's context.
  22. I carry in the only acceptable method in New Jersey............... In the trunk of my car, unloaded with a trigger lock in yet another locked armored box with a 60 decibel alarm while driving 10 miles under the speed limit, making no stops, biting my fingernails to the quick while reciting the Lord's Prayer, monitoring all the Police frequencies, the weather channel and my horoscope with thumb on the speed dial of my I Phone programmed with Nappens's number. Mags and ammo follow in secured WW 2 era footlocker on a Baptist church bus registered in Washington DC with 14 orphans from North Korea. I don't get to shoot much..........................
