  1. When is the next class? I see Level 2 coming up but not level 1.
  2. So basically you just need P2P, FID and Drivers License for same state private handgun sale. Maybe a deed of sale. Anything else? Is there a serial number check or gun history verification much like vehicles?
  3. http://corbon.com/Pow-RBall.html - "The patented Pow'RBall projectile is a JHP bullet with a polymer ball crimped in the tip. " Federal or Hornaday does not say hollow points. While Corbon clearly states JHP. That might be an issue if the manufacturer states its JHP and your are being tried by 12.
  4. Good call! Its a shame we cant have a pistol grip for this. But that's another story. I'll look into the Saiga 12
  5. vladtepes - I LOVE the 1st and 2nd from the bottom! Thanks for posting and sharing the config. I can use that as a guide to build my AK. You just threw me off course now that I am lusting for the AK ;-). I was intending to get a shotgun after my AR build. But I plan on competing a 3-gun match so the shotgun is hard to drop. Plus shotgun is good "in-home" defense. But the AK has it's coolness! I'm more confused or torn than ever! LOL
  6. I'm thinking, if this were to happen here does it make sense to fire 12-Gauge rubber buckshot and/or rubber slugs for rioters attempting to enter/destroy your home? Sort of on guard outside. Then transition to AR if they are armed. Surely you don't want to use lethal force but you don't want your property destroyed either. If they are armed then drop the shotgun then transition to AR. I think its justified to use lethal force if they are considered arson or attempting to burn your home.
  7. I have one of this which is NJ legal out of the box - http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_PCWA3X_14M4IZ.asp Izzy brake is not the same as flash hider. It has to looks but not the function. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone?
  8. C'mon now. You are starting to discourage me :-) I am planning to take the civil service test so that I can apply as a deputy sheriff in my county.
  9. Thanks for the clarification Nick. I did a search but was skeptical so I brought it up here - "they" said rimfire is excluded from 15 round limit as long as its 22 and the barrel is stamped with 22.
  10. Does NJ restrict 15 round maximum mags for rim fire 22LR rifles? If am restricted to 10 rounds b/c there are no available 15 round mags I'd pass. But with full capacity mags I'd go for it.
  11. +1+1+ A+ Excellent AR course. I never thought I could hit in such distance but I did and consistent! Overall its a must for anyone who has not had a formal AR training. YouTube and your buddy's 30 minutes advise (if he even spends that much time)" is not enough kids!! Get formally trained.
  12. Does this mean you can't use the target frames on the 50 and 100 as well? I thought target frames (from orientation) are kept inside the trailers. They said to make sure to bring it back after you use it. Sorry - probational member but have not been a the location yet. On another note, any suggestion where to get good quality (and portable) target frames? I'll Google around but if there is one highly recommended I'd take that.
  13. Will NRA 1st Step Rifle Certificate be given at the end of the course?
  14. Yes I did! Just need to drag my a** there one of these days. Its a good hour commute from north
  15. Yes, good point in not using irreplaceable weapons. I brought the question up b/c of this Bill. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2008/Bills/A0500/159_I1.PDF http://www.newjersey-legal-guide.com/New-Jersey-Self-Defense.html
  16. Thanks. Good to know. I thought rifle is restricted to 6 and 7. I don't have to measure my distance from berm to 25 up-range then.
  17. Yes definitely. I would avoid using a weapon at all cost. Don't want the legal, emotional, and financial burden of the aftermath. Only if I see a weapon or oncoming charge even after a clear warning shall I use it. Or bodily injury already has been inflicted to me or family. Won’t even use it if attacker is armed but running away or his backed turned away from me. Just hypothetical in the event there is no other way but to discharge it. I guess I should not be using my babied toys for home defense. Guess I better get a Glock so I wont mind having it taken away... - ducking for cover - LOL
  18. After "Use of Force in Defense of Premises or Personal Property" has been initiated - 1) Will authorities take away your weapon right there-and-there? 2) Will authorities take your other firearms even if it’s not used for the said defense? I understand if prosecuted or charged the weapon is considered evidence so it’s automatically taken. But will you be able to retain it till charges are filed. And until proven guilty will you be able to keep you other firearms?
  19. Thanks for the clarification Dave. Just want to make sure I'm following rules on my 1st visit. Nick. I think I'll do that too and prefer that. Just wondering if there is an "official way" but I guess its preference. 1-MOA red dot on rifle and my pistol covers the target so I'll keep it consistent with my rifle irons as well. Thanks! Lex
  20. I must have missed this during orientation. Will the outdoor range let you shoot outside the firing line closer to the berm if you are zeroing your rifle for 25 meters? alone at the range of course. I know that all target must be directly behind the berm (correct me if I'm wrong). And for AR sight picture - does the front sight cover the target or target sitting on top of sight post? For my sig it uses combat sight which covers the target directly. I find dozens of AR zeroing notes but no sight picture. I've read it somewhere, but I cant find it now, that target should be on top of post. Using a laser bore sight the POI is covered by the front sight (very slightly on the tip) at mechanical zero. Yes, guilty newbie here
  21. Great info! I'm set then. Thanks all!!!!
  22. Thanks! Good call. I'll remember that. I thought it's ok to have them as rebuild pieces or parts as long as they are not put together. But better not leave room for questioning.
  23. Actually its Post-ban M4 carbine but fixed stock. Collapsible looking but permanently pinned. I can't find a diagram online so I used this instead. Looks like I'll end up getting a complete kit for simplicity.
  24. Its commercial or civilian spec from what I researched. The receiver extension is long so after unpinning the stock the tube protrudes past the stock if you slide it more than 2 inches. http://www.ar15.com/mobile/topic.html?b=12&f=2&t=76 Lower Receiver and Buttstock Assembly 3/3 down the page
