If money were no object... Springfield M1A-probably the Scout Colt 1911 Webley Revolver M1 Garand But starting over realistically... I'd keep my M&P .40 Ruger GP revolver Smith 15-22 for some cheap and fun shooting and a good shotgun, my 870 Wingmaster fits the bill

Finally! Colby posted on Twitter last fall that they finished wrapping on a spin-off series, but gave no details. Should be fun. Any show featuring guns is better than most of the crap on TV.

Of the polymer pistols I've shot - Glock, XD, XDM, Beretta px4, M&P... i chose the M&P. Finest of the bunch, best quality, operation, performance, and accuracy. It also just feels good shooting.

I love the M&P. 1911's are nice too. XDM is also comfortable, reliable, and accurate

I heard Fresh Air's interview with an author who wrote about the Glock and its rise in popularity in America. It was certainly biased, but also interesting to see how Glock started out. I didn't read the article, but the podcast definitely reflects a little anti-gun stance. The first part of the interview is about Gabrielle Giffords, gangsta rap, and criminals using glocks. Then they get to police departments and why they like it. I'd agree. Though I live in a rural area, there are too many houses around me to shoot rifle/shotgun. So I mostly go to my local range which is handgun only. I know a few who own farms and more land and they tend to shoot their AR's, shotguns, and go hunting more often than I am able to.

My M&P has about 900 rounds through it with no issues.

I just bought my first shotgun to hopefully get into hunting. It's a used 870 Wingmaster, that I bought for $125. It seemed to be in great shape, it racked and the trigger felt good on the snap cap. It also looked high quality. When I got home, I did some research and called Remington to find out the age. They said 1960. If you were me, would you have it checked out before firing it? The barrel looks ok on the inside, and everything feels smooth. And any ideas if it's worth what I paid for it? Some guys I talked to think I should have just bought a new one for a bit more.

I don't have any grittiness on my trigger. I own a M&P .40 and I think it's a fine gun.

I'd suggest the S+W M&P. Great gun.

Cabela's prices aren't any better than the shops in NJ. Some shops have better deals on certain guns, so just do a little visiting. You won't regret looking at all the guns you can for a few days. I thought the best deals were online too, until I did more research. I got the same gun at an NJ shop for the same price but didn't have to pay transfer fees or shipping! Plus it's always good to get to know the local shop guys, they can be quite helpful.

Hey Crowbar, I'm from the area and also shoot at Bob's. As far as ranges in our area, I find them the most helpful and friendly, and affordable. I don't know much about WMA, only have a handgun as of now, so a membership to Bob's is enough for me. If I am able to get into long guns, I'll be checking out the requirements for WMA as well.

I went for the first time alone. I'm a member at Bob's in Glassboro(southern Jersey). It was quite a different experience shooting solo. Usually I go with my wife, but she's pregnant now. Or I go with a guy from work, or other friends. As fun as it is to go with other people, I found it to be a more helpful experience to go alone. I had time to shoot, figure out what I did wrong, and work on fixing it. Usually I'm just aiming when I go with other people, chalking up any off the bullseye shots to "chance". But today I was able to work out my mistakes and learn. 100 rounds still doesn't last long.

I've used 4 of the ten, the M&P is my favorite. Completely reliable, easy to maintain, fits great and is accurate. The Glocks are good too, but I've read a lot about police departments moving on from them, and about some Gen4 reliability issues. The Beretta Px4 rattled a lot for a new gun, the only plus was low recoil/quicker to get back on target.

I bought a M&P .40 there on sale. The guys there were decent enough. Knowledgeable, but not as helpful as I'd like. The range is also high-priced compared to other ranges.

My favorite .40 is the Smith and Wesson M&P. It's a great gun, very reliable, and a fun amount of recoil.
