  1. Who? I'm not voting for the fools we have in there now. IIRC Brown (Asm) voted Yes on all those bills. Doesn't look like Rudder (Asm) is running. Addiego (Sen) hasn't voted on them yet, but given that her two ticket buddies voted yes says enough for me. Guess I have to do some research on folks.
  2. I don't own one, but I've fired several boxes through a 4" Ported Tracker 44M. No complaints whatsoever. Very comfortable to shoot and never had an issue. [Fill in the forum] snobs crack me up. I like Ruger myself. I would also try to dig up a pre-lock S&W versus a new one.
  3. That sucks. I just don't get the refusal to go on the show. Just because you go on the show doesn't mean a thing. Go on there and thank a community for their support and solicit more $$. I fail to see how going on the show would have hurt them, especially after taking money from shooting / hunting fund raisers. I usually don't give to these mega-charities because of their inefficiencies and huge director pay. Bang-for-buck you are almost always better off donating to a local charity. They run on nothing and help your community directly.
  4. I have the Sony HX850 55". Absolutely love it. The only drawback is the 3d glasses are pricey (but a better 3d picture). You should be able to get 240Hz pretty cheap these days. Most tv's are 'smart' too, as well as everything hooked to it (xbox,ps3,bluray). What will cost is how the lighting is done (local dimming / Full Array). That is what makes that high end Pioneer Elite so expensive and good looking.
  5. Ever buy sporting goods online? Have a credit card used to buy sporting goods? 'Off the grid' is difficult. Our info is in hundreds of databases being sold daily.
  6. G&R appears to have them back in stock BUT they currently have this message on the top of their site: "WARNING:Security features on our site are currently down. Please wait for this message to be removed to place your order securely. Thank you"
  7. I would fly 1st class if it weren't so outrageously expensive. Either me or my wallet will get violated it seems.
  8. I lost power for a few days the winter before last when we got clobbered by a few blizzards. It sucked (I ended up leaving). I hear people complaining that it's cold - it really isn't too bad. I'd take this weather over dead of winter or heat of summer any day. Coffee is a must - I love my Cabelas stove-top percolator. All metal, no filters - has lasted me years. I can't stand instant coffee.
  9. Stuff I need to improve/buy: More light sticks - they were super handy, cheap and safe waterBob - I filled my tub but the plug didn't seal well - I ended up using a mason jar lid that worked much better but not perfect Some sort of water filtration system - I think I might go with a 2 bucket ceramic - and get some pool shock. OTA HD antenna - at one point I had power but no cable (comcast) - this annoyed me Another La Cross battery charger - took me a while to get all my rechargables done with the one charger My truck - while the 6L V8 (TBSS) is fun it's just not practical if I had to get through any real crap More 'comfort' food. This didn't really cross my mind in preparing. I ended up eating lots of halloween candy. I will buy myself a Biolite campstove for christmas. I like dual use prepping + camping stuff. Things I found helpful: stovetop stuff - Coffee Percolator - Popcorn Popper manual coffee grinder and can opener Ziploc baggies to make iceblocks Smartphone apps - AC Electric - 5-0 Police Scanner - Weather App Phone battery backup - I can get 3+ charges on my iPhone out of Newtrent Power inverter Primarily using only AA and AAA devices (very few exceptions) Overall I think I was very prepared but I didn't have a prolonged outage like some people are having. If I didn't live in a condo I would definately have a generator.
  10. Cree 300lumen LED light - they run about $5-$9. It has been my EDC for quite a while now and keep a couple around the house. Has an adjustable beam and is extremely bright. 1 AA battery. http://www.amazon.com/SODIAL-300lm-Flashlight-Torch-Adjustable/dp/B009NAE3YM/ref=pd_cp_hi_0
  11. This was making it's rounds through Philly not too long ago. They put several people in the hospital. Not sure if it's stopped or just not newsworthy anymore.
  12. Stuff like TrapWire disturbs me more.
  13. Mostly the potential PC BS. Just another level of bureaucratic crap. I understand the community not wanting someone in the development to paint their house safety orange, but is that really a problem? Enough so to justify all this nanny pandering to the hypersensitive PC crowd? Nope. Home of the free. I do see value to my HOA dues because I don't shovel, mow, paint, landscape, etc. It's not just going to the paint-police.
  14. That house is great. My HOA does not have anything against flags and many people do fly them (I do 24/7). It looks great on Memorial day or Veterans day when a good % of the places are flying US Flags. If I were looking to move somewhere and saw this, I would see this as a plus. That being said I will try to avoid an HOA in the next place I live because of the PC BS like in the story.
  15. Ugh I just read nj.com artitcles. Very sad. Apparently it was a 45mm automatic pistol. Holy smokes!
