  1. Agreed, I would check when the last town wide revaluation was done. Older houses tend to get dramatically screwed when these occur.
  2. IMDB is now saying a Nov 2 2012 release date on Red Dawn II or whatever it will be called. I won't hold my breath. The facebook fan group is named Red Dawn 2010. :-)
  3. Get a good home inspector not just a j**koff with a flashlight :-) Make sure you run the AC and heating systems and see how noisy they are. The owner should know how old the roof is; if they're an original owner from 1985 and it hasn't been touched, it probably needs a new roof. (would be 27 years old) and the roof deck (plywood) may be rotted or contain mold. My house was built in 67 and I had to tear off 2 layers of shingles and the plywood but it was worth it to have a good solid roof. I knew the plywood was rotten so I arranged a price with the roofer in advance for the whole thing. Learn about proper attic ventilation and insulation. Also check the drainage of your property and see where the water goes when it rains.
  4. Who even knew there was a Human Services Police force?
  5. Funny, the copper plated Federal bulk rounds work great in my SIg 522, but the lead nosed Thunderbolt rounds have tended to misfeed. I'm happy to get the Federal for 3c a round or CCI mini mags for 6c.
  6. I think it's entirely possible that cellphones + cars is the most lethal weapons system ever invented. :-)
  7. I'm surprised the guy didn't hurt himself swinging around that axe/shovel looking thing that his company makes (and presumably he appeared on the show in order to promote it).
  8. Most of the sounds effects are put in post-production by "foley artists", that may account for the lack of recoil. IMFDB has some good shots of blanks ejected by movie guns. For example, see this page about the movie The Transporter and scroll to the bottom http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Transporter,_The
  9. good! I'll tell you something else. My brother in law was a county official in north jersey. When they would hold the memorial services for one of our heroes KIA, a lot of times he would be the one handing the folded flag to the widow or family. No higher ranking congressional or state dignitaries would even show up at these services. That is truly sad.
  10. The money for solar panels comes out of a surcharge on your bills. Estimated to cost NJ $6-7 billion over the next few years. That's why it's nonsense...poor economics..buying panels from China when nat gas is at record low prices. But that's Obama centrally planned economy for ya. As long as his cronies get a taste it's all good. And wind power is an even worse boondoggle than solar.
  11. Thanks for the interesting perspective. I tried this over 10 years ago, I suspect electricity prices were being manipulated up by Enron. Utility prices probably adjust slower to market conditions esp if their fuel mix is kind of fixed. Nowadays, JCP&L probably uses coal and nuclear as their main fuels. If you can get a deal from a supplier who generates from natural gas it could be a better deal. Now if only we didn't have to subsidize the all the green energy nonsense.
  12. Heck, a lot of the 300+ pounders died from heat exhaustion when the power cut out after Katrina.
  13. I still remember Uncle Steve on Canal Street 226-4010 maybe 20 or 30 years later!
  14. This is nuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z-bEn2zJf0&feature=g-u-u&context=G278052fFUAAAAAAAAAA
  15. 48th homicide victim of the year and it's feb 15th? Is that correct? That's about 1 per day.
  16. Cruises southbound, you fly to Anchorage and they bus you from the convention center to the port (Seward?) a few hours drive. You arrive into Vancouver, so as to avoid provisions of the Jones Act which would require an American crew if you don't touch a foreign port. We stopped in Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. The ship does catch a bit of a roll in the open water of the Gulf of Alaska. The casino is open every night too. We went in July, they only operate in the summer, then the ships move someplace else.
  17. The cruises are nice, a lot of stuff is not really reachable by road in a practical sense. You can also take the Alaska state ferry system and visit the same ports without the "organized joy" of a cruise ship. I caught mono after my Alaska cruise, kind of took some of the charm away.
  18. My impression is that the third party energy providers are generally not a good deal. plus it becomes next to impossible to do an apples to apples comparison. I do find the NJ Clean Energy retail store online is a good source for subsidized CFL/LED bulbs and fixtures. There also seems to be energy assistance for middle income folks available. Not that I'm in favor of socialism but they're robbing us anyway, so you might as well take it before they do something dumb with the money.
  19. Bunch of bs, shortage of welders? Then train some. See also: California high speed rail to nowhere
  20. Thank you I stand corrected. He really took off a good chunk of his thumb. Looks like the surgeons had to shorten it.
  21. Absurd inversion of values. This pretty much closes the book on Christie having any real values or moral compass. Total panderer.
