  1. Only if they own the soda machine in the lobby of the Federal Mint..
  2. There is someone on the wing!
  3. If only there weren't existing laws that covered this.. Oh wait.. I'm sure these "kids" with guns will follow the new laws as well as they're following the existing ones.
  4. My concern is that once a Convention is called it could be subverted unless the scope is specifically limited. A convention to "Strengthen" the 2A could end up as one to "Change" 2A.. and then we know what direction that would go.
  5. The good news is they're both "Assault Weapons".. so are sticks, stones, bats, nails, unicorns, chia pets, and adjectives. This guy could be a felon too:
  6. Question there. If US vs. Miller ruled that way then how is the NFA not unconstitutional? Assuming "Organized Militia" == National Guard or Reserves then the public should have access to almost anything. Not arguing for or against such an interpretation, just curious why it hasn't been interpreted that way.
  7. He probably got a squid to proof read it for him. I agree it was very well written and I was kinda surprised to see it on CNN.

  9. Nice... And for those like me that had to dig out wiki:
  10. National registration of grandfathered firearms?Moving to a single characteristic test? The always so straightforward "certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, and shotguns that have detachable magazine and 1 other characteristic" statement? 10 round mag limit?ETA: stupid sarcasm...
  11. Go read the summary of Feinstein's bill on her site: http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons Even grandfathering would have limitations: like mandatory registration. Also moves frm a 2 characteristic test to a single characteristic test.
  12. Feinstein's proposal: http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons
  13. The wife is taking prepping too seriously..
  14. What a shitbag.. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/26/nyregion/gunman-who-shot-firefighters-left-chilling-note.html?pagewanted=all
  15. As a current VFF I can't imagine this.. knowing my local this type of scenario is the last thing I'd be thinking about or expecting. RIP brothers, we've got it from here.
  16. I don't think it's a German made model. It doesn't have the barrel-stamp. Couldbe wrong though. The other light option would be a deprecate light but that would mean changing my grip, right?
  17. I have an older Sig 226 from 2001 that does not have the built-in rails. What are my options for mounting a light?
  18. As I said in the thread about the MTP interview I would have like him to aggressively counter their arguments as he seemed reactionary. Still I thought the Bloomberg reference was very good. And I thought he countered the mag issue well: that the focus should be to interrupt the shooter before he gets to the point where it matters how many rounds are in the mag. Of course that opens the door to the anti today " well then why not support legislation to limit who has access..." I also liked the WV congressmen (I think) who said basically that he owns an AR and he can change mags pretty quick. It an old guy can do it....
  19. Makes me glad I wasn't being interviewed. I would have like the NRA to tackle the arguments head-on but the way the interview went he would have been talked into a corner. Or rather, a bigger corner. I think the NRA came off as deflecting by not using the valid data to counter the anti-arguments.
  20. I can see pros and cons of both arming faculty and resident police. The fact is it would be nice to have both options available and schools to choose either one or a hybrid of both depending on their individual threat assessments, budget, environment..and other factors. One does not preclude the other and the fact is either option is more effective then what was available in CT. My concern with having armed police in the schools, other than the budgetary considerations is that it has to be handled in such a way to NOT make the school seem like a prison. It could be a great opportunity for the police to foster a better relationship with kids if handled well... it could also cause the kids to view the police as stormtroopers if handled incorrectly. To use an admittedly overgeneralization, Police tend to (or are perceived to) resort to more strong-arm tactics quicker (see 1A cases with filming PD as examples of perception). It could be chance to overcome that perception if they are very very careful to avoid it. My concern with arming the faculty, other then the training considerations, is that while it would probably work very well for an adult intruder it would be a completely different matter if the shooter is one of their own. I don't think flipping the switch between teacher/mentor and protector would come easily... at a minimum having to draw on one of your own students would cause some pretty f'n deep emotional scars. Any training would have to cover these aspects in addition to overall marksmanship/safety..etc. Either way, another facet is it could provide an opportunity to bring firearms awareness/training back into the school corriculum.
  21. Probably would have been a question about the Fiscal Cliff..
  22. And so it begins.. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57560479/nra-guns-in-schools-would-protect-students/
  23. That was my thought too.. would have been better if they ended it by waving their canes in the air screaming "Get off my lawn" I agree with the plan to protect the schools, though I think it should focus on arming and training certain faculty vs additional staff as it would be less of a hit on the school budgets. The segways into mass media, video games, TV and Movies just seemed not well thought out.
