  1. My bad. I searched "Generator recall" and nothing came up.... weird.
  2. There have been a lot of generator posts of late. I've seen the Champion name mentioned quite a few times so I thought it prudent to post this recall: http://www.newsday.com/business/champion-portable-generators-recalled-1.4184177
  3. Cheap and smelly way? Half 10% ammonia and half dish detergent. More expensive and less smelly? M Pro Copper Remover.
  4. Keep in mind, you are not limited to 55g FMJs. As to the OP, if it's going to be a range only gun for plinking, a Stag, Bushy or S&W Sport etc. will be fine for you. Later on, if you decide you are going to use it more rigorously, you can upgrade parts or buy a new rifle. Buy one, get used to running it and you will see what options you like and don't like. That's the fun of the AR platform. Be aware: AR shooting/collecting can be addictive!
  5. Ah, yes. Any of my guns that would be potentially used for HD get cleaned after a range trip. The rest of them I'm not so picky about.
  6. Boresnakes are your friend. I clean all my guns w. a boresnake after each use. It only takes a few minutes. They get a detail cleaning when they need it. As to .22s, I know a lot of guys who never clean them until they have a malfunction.
  7. I did pretty well. POSITIVES: * 25 gallons of gas for the genny before storm. Three vehicles filled. * I have a well, so water was not an issue. I already have 3-4 months worth of food in my house. Booze? Lots! * Fridge and chest freezer were on generator power. I have an NG stove/oven, so meals were nice and hot. * I used two portable jump starters to charge phone, iPad and 4G hotspot. So when I got tired of reading my Kindle, I could watch videos on iPad. Can't wait to see my bill for data. I'm SURE I went way over my allotment. Very Minor Negatives: * I did find out my generator power was not "clean" enough to run the auto-igniter in my gas furnace. The blower worked, but no igniter = no fire. No biggie. I have a wood stove and many cords of hardwood. * A few months ago, I lost the key to my back door. My front door is very old (solid as a rock, though) and has never had a key since I bought the house. I always got into the house via electric garage door opener. I was at the house when the power went down, so getting in wasn't an issue. When I did venture out on Wed. to get some Dunkin Donuts coffee, I left my back window open so I could climb back in. I will be resolving this issue by getting a new back door lock with key AND battery powered keypad. * I need more DVDs or a way to connect the iPad to the big screen. I did watch Band of Brothers for the 10th time, however.
  8. Brewing up a batch of my infamous ass-blaster chili. Burns you twice... once going in and once coming out.
  9. Ummm.... it's BSA. What did he expect? That's like buying a $5 Chinese knife and expecting it to field dress 10,000 deer.
  10. They are Disorderly Person offenses. And neither involves domestic abuse of any kind. So there is no valid reason for denying her.
  11. I know I'll be resting easy now that our society finally runs seamlessly.
  12. I just installed a transfer switch yesterday for my portable genny. It took me about 4 hours. 240v to well pump 120v to fridge 120v to furnace fan 120v to sump pump 120v to TV / lights Unfortunately, my basement is prone to flooding because when the house was built in the 50's, the foundation drainage system most likely wasn't installed correctly. So that means I need to run the genny 24-7 to keep the sump pump going.
  13. Me, too. I have a very light, pencil barreled Vulcan Arms AR I'm going to try this on.
  14. Let us know what they say. I'm interested in this deal.

  16. Champion gensets are made in China. While Chinese manufactured goods have gotten better in the last 10 years, they can still be hit or miss quality-wise.
  17. And yeah, pistol grips sans stock on a 12 gauge generally suck ass. Unless you are a juiced up power lifter, there is no way to control the recoil and get back on target.
  18. I have one on one of my 870s. A few questions: How does it "punch you in the face"? I've never had the problem. Even w. full power slug loads. What kind of cheek weld were you using? And what is this cigar cutter you speak of? There's nothing sharp anywhere near your face or hands. One point I will concede: I don't like the lateral play in the stock. While doesn't feel like a "wet noodle", it should lock up a bit tighter. I'm going to explore ways to remedy that. Will post results.
  19. I do. That's the definition of entrapment. Like I said above, we will never know the truth as to what really happened. Maybe it was a good clean bust, maybe it wasn't. On this, we agree.
  20. I'd also call her boss and tell him/her why you are dumping her. It's a royal PITA to find a good agent. When I bought my house 11 years ago, I went through 4 before finally settling on the 5th. The first 4 insisted on trying to show me properties that weren't even close to what I was looking for.
  21. There is nothing wrong with questioning the methodology employed by law enforcement here. How far was he "pushed" by the FBI? How many real al-Qaeda contacts did he have? If he was actively pursuing explosives and the FBI nabbed him, good. If he was pushed and prodded along, they created a criminal. I have a feeling we will never know the real truth. And you can add me to the people who will always question situations like this. More of these busts leads to more money spent on surveillance which leads to less freedom for law abiding citizens.
  22. Sure, send me his info. I usually go on charters, but like I said, this was a last minute thing.
