  1. I don't know if we'd hear back from OP if that turns out to be the issue lol
  2. Double-check the outlet? If it's definitely hot, try spreading the prongs on the light string apart so they barely fit into the socket... could be a contact issue... trying to think of anything else it might be.
  3. Did you plug them into a GFCI outlet? Did you check to see if it tripped? It'd pop that before tripping the breaker.
  4. Yesterday I took my 5th and 6th new shooters to the BH (my mom and my 14 y.o. sister.) I went over range rules and safety rules, and they had a great time with my P226 and WW-15. The R.O. (John?) has been there the last few times I've gone, and was pleasant. He even asked a guy shooting a pistol in a rifle port to move (politely) to a pistol port, so we could get going faster. Also, when another new shooter next to us was bothered by the noise and concussion, he let them move to a port one farther away. (We did pause our shooting while she tried to build up the nerve, and explained that we had two new female shooters in our group, but I don't think it worked... hopefully another time!) I was glad that they didn't feel 'put-off' or out of place at all, and am confident that they feel a lot more comfortable around firearms.
  5. Wow... I'll definitely keep close track of paperwork, dates, etc. then. Thanks for the heads-up!
  6. Hey all, I'm looking to buy a house in W.O. and am wondering how they are with their paperwork. I'm moving from Belleville and from what I've read, I've been spoiled (8d for P2P, dropped off & picked up, no appointment needed). I'm not looking for P2P ATM but am more concerned about change of address for FID. Thanks!
  7. Very moving video... Politics aside, the men and women who've fought for us throughout history deserve the utmost respect
  8. I'm taking my mom and younger sister shooting (both first timers) in the next week or two, but asked my dad to go over safety with them before they head down. I'll go over it again when at the range, but it'll save a lot of time I hope.

    Only one handgun

I'm happy to see my 2 semis mentioned (MK25 & FNX-45) but I'd have to say I'd take the MK25. Lady is comfortable shooting it if need be so I can use the AR
  10. http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/airgun_faq.pdf Note Q7
  11. Voted 'No'... Job here is too good (at the moment). Short term I can deal with it... But long term I'll be leaving for sure!
  12. I'd rather trust a well placed shot with my 9mm than 'hope' with my .45. Both 15+1, but (as I put on my flame retardant suit) my 9mm has a light and laser, which I trust in an HD scenario.
  13. Gas here was hovering around $3.00 this week... 2.999-3.029. As far as food, I haven't noticed a drastic increase... We paid roughly the same Fri as we normally do, and that's for 3 meals a day for me and 2 for her. I work in NYC so it's bring your own food or spend $15+ per day for breakfast and lunch.
  14. .22 bolt action at a Boy Scout camp (No-Be-Bo-Sco), 11 or 12 years old. Still have the targets. First handgun shot was at 18 when I went to GA to visit some friends.
  15. Thank you for posting those references... I've often wondered what the consequences would be if an intruder failed to comply with me telling them to get on the ground (at gunpoint.)
  16. OK. Are there any known 'evil features' of 1944 K98ks?
  17. Thanks ogfarmer... and to clarify... the FFL can be any FFL or must be a FFL in the purchasers state of residence?
  18. Thanks for the reply... so does this mean as long as there is an FID holder in the vehicle (or must they be driving?) and the rifle (or long gun in general) is unloaded, it's legal? I know it's kind of a dumb question but I'm the only one who takes my guns anywhere and I have my FID on me at all times and they're always unloaded and locked so I don't really think about it.

    1944 Czech K98k

Hey all, I know someone who is into reenacting and purchased a "1944 Czechoslovakian Mauser K98k 8x57mm" and was wondering about how to go about transporting it legally, making sure it is safe to fire (already talked to my local shop and they said they could take a look at it), and one question I had was if it needed to be registered (I'm not sure what paperwork was done when it was purchased... it may have been private sale out-of-state but I don't know.) Any help is much appreciated, as are any questions I should ask that might help. p.s. I tried a search but I must have been doing it wrong, as I tried k98 after seeing it in the topics and it still showed no results.
  20. Belleville, Essex County Dropped off paperwork for (2) P2P (already have FID) on 5/24 (processed 5/28 due to holiday) Permits ready to be picked up on 6/6. Started NICS 6/7, cleared 6/11.
  21. Applied 6/7 (Fri) Approved 6/11 (Tues)
  22. Hey all, I'm looking for a revolver for my dad. He has a P2P that is going to expire soon (still has an extension available though), and wants a nice-looking, larger caliber revolver (compared to his 9mm semi). He said he would prefer a wooden grip, .44 model. Probably would prefer new, as well. It'd be for home defense, so price range <$1000 say? I'm inexperienced with revolvers though, so any information is greatly appreciated.
  23. Hello, 1st post here! Found out about NJGF during my search for NJ gun laws, rules, practices, info, etc... bought my 1st gun about a week ago, probably saw the site about a month ago, and joined today! I have a SIG Sauer P226 MK25 that ive put about 400 rounds through, cleaned it twice. I'm near the Bullet Hole in Belleville, NJ, but I bought my gun at Caso's in Jersey City. Look forward to learning a lot here!
