  1. The point is the last sentence....the rest of the article backs it up. The point being gun free zones do nothing except leave law abiding citizens defensless.
  2. ?????????.....I was sarcastically thinking of absurd new laws that NJ could come up with to deter ANYONE from carrying if the reciprocity law passes.
  3. Absurd NJ Rule For Out of State Concealed Carry Holders - u must directly report to NJ State Police and provide "Justifiable Need" as to why you haveto have a concealed handgun. Replies of "Because the 2nd Amendment guarantees me the right" is unacceptable. They will then be told to immediately leave NJ with their unloaded firearm properly secured (unloaded) in their trunk. Additionally, they may not make any unnecessary stops when leaving the state.
  4. Congrats on your FIRST purchse. Any idea what you are thinking about getting fwith the 2nd permit?
  5. Link to article: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/politics/us/article/Cornyn-introduces-concealed-carry-reciprocity-bill-5132935.php#/0
  6. Fingers crossed that this passes today! Anyone know around when it is set to go up for the vote? I actually woukd like to watch this on CSPAN but the vote, I'm guessing, will be while I'm working. Assuming it does pass, what are some absurd new laws you can think of that NJ will pass to make this more difficult. According to an article I read in the Houston Chronicle the out of state permit holder would have to abide by the jurisdiction of the state they are visiting.
  7. That is a HUGE garden!!! Enjoy!
  8. My 11 year old is interested in archery. Not sure how serious she is but I came across the Union County Archery in Clark, NJ. I'll be looking into it. $30 for non-Union county residents for adults and $15 for children. Can't beat that! Here's the link: http://ucnj.org/community/parks-community-renewal/parks-facilities/activities/Archery
  9. NJ is already in the minority. Do you think our "leaders" care about the other 99% of the country? They care only about the power and authority they are able to assert over their domain. Until someone else, most likely SCOUS, forces NJ politicians to change the law it will stay as is. I hope I'm wrong.
  10. He has his own website dedicated to 2nd Amendment and preserving the Constitution. Evidently he is also an avid fisherman & outdoors man.
  11. No. Did you even read it? From the first sentence under "Press Release": Would allow individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state to exercise those rights in any other state that also has concealed carry laws. So if you don't already have a NJ concealed carry permit it doesn't change a thing.....
  12. I stumbled across on of his videos on Youtube. At first I thought it was a gag/spoof but evidently it is not. Who would have thunk it: http://saveuschuckwoolery.com/category/videos/
  13. It is goong to be in the mid 50s tomorrow. In January......in NJ. Take that "artic vortex"!
  14. Well, we all like guns....and live in NJ. So, yeah.
  15. I'm rather new to shooting but I like the trigger on my Ruger GP100 very much. It isn't too heavy or too light and I know just where it is going to break in double action. I also have a CZ75 in 9mm and it isn't bad either. I'm more accurate with the CZ on the range but more comfortable with the GP100 as a home defense gun. I'm not a horrible shot with the GP100 but feel more confident with the control I have over it. A large part of that feeling comes from the smooth trigger and knowing when I'm comimg close to the brake and being confident that I can back off the brake if need be. I've rented the Beretta Storm and it was decent. I also tried another forum member's Walther PPQ. It felt very nice in my hand but has a very, very light trigger pull. It would make a great range / target gun but I wouldn't be comfortable with it as my HD gun. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I tried (very briefly) the Taurus 92 (the Berreta 92FS clone) and found the trigger to be very, very heavy. At first I thought I had left the safety on or had a jam. It was that heavy! I also tried a EAA Witness Match not too long ago. It is hammered fired, single action only (SAO) and has a very nice trigger with a clean, crisp break. Recoil was very smoothe for a 9mm.
  16. Welcome from a few towns over. What do you shoot? I too am a member at both Heritage and EFGA. EFGA is excellent for the price. I think the next closest outdoor range is Central Jersey Rifle Club. It is prob 15 or 20 minutes closer than Heritage & EFGA but too expensive for me right now. A very nice feature they do have is 24 access to an indoor range in addition to their outdoor ranges. You may want to check them out. I may be heading out to EFGA on Sunday depending on the weather. If you are interested in checking it out PM me.
  17. KRDSHRK - soooo stealing the "Democrat with his hands in his own pockets!" Hilarious!
  18. Once I got to heads up it only took 2 or 3 hands and I was done. Beating out the other 273 players took some time. Doesn't really depend on how fast or slow you play. With larger online tournaments I'm guessing you can probably expect to be playing from 3-6 hours or more..... I don't play that often because I generally don't have hours and hours to myself but every now and then it is nice to sit down and play and see how "deep" you can go.
  19. It's called winter in the Northeast. Man up. But really, what was the climate like 2 billion years ago? 500 million years ago? 50 million years ago? I love the entire "It's the coldest day in recorded history!!!" hyperbole when "recorded history" is one grain of sand on all the beaches in the world..... Trying to predict the climate based on the last few thousands years worth of scientific data is like looking at the first snow flake with a microscope on the very top of an iceberg and trying to determine how big the entire iceberg is. This planet has gone thronugh various hot, cold, wet and dry spells. it will continue to do so and we won't be able to predict any one them except through 20/20 hindsight. I'm no scientist but I often wonder how the creation of our great cities has effected the rotation of the globe. Think about it. Up until fairly "modern" times all the natural materials were pretty much where they were. Take a ball, attach a string to it and spin it. This is the Earth and it's rotation. Now, take some of the "material" from one area of the the ball / "Earth" and move it in mass amounts to all different areas .....our great cities, all oil drilled out of the ground, etc, etc. Spin the ball / Earth again....did the rotation change slightly? Could a slight change in the rotation of the Earth's axis due to the mass movements of materials slightly change the rotation of the planet and possible effect the tides, the weather, etc, etc?? I realize it's a big ass planet but we've moved A LOT of stuff around the past few thousand years.
  20. We Were Soldiers was an incredible movie. All the more so b/c it is based on actual events. It is right up there with Black Hawk Down.
  21. About 275. I forgot how long it take to play a full tournament. Took almost 5 hours!
  22. What he said. Have you shot a CZ? I have a 9mm if you want to check it out. I shoot at Heritage in Easton, PA. What is it you like about the SAR K2?
  23. Just finished 2nd in the WSOP $250 Sunday Free Roll! Lost to a pair of deuces! Was holding jack/queen off suit pre-flop. Oh well, was a good game. Now to roll that $36 windfall into some real cash!
