  1. why the long face? (sorry, couldnt resist) nice brindle coloring
  2. HAH.. love that pic (CHOMP!).. if im rough-housing with my pittie, people would think she's a nasty thing, but she's so gentle and the minute she THINKS she's hurt you (like if you say"ouch", she stops and tries to lick you.. my old dog (westie) was a really mean little f*er.. cute as a button, but once she got older, she became real crotchety..
  3. not my dog.. just a cool pic i found online.. i dont have any "patriotic" shots of my dog.. heh had an eagle avatar at first, but so many had them, wanted to change it up.. i might try to see what better shots i have of our own and change it again
  4. Here's our Pit-Mix "Gabby".. 80+ lbs and will definitely lick you to death if we let you in.. but if you just knock on the door, she SOUNDS like one mean mo-fo.. (and gets the hackles raised as well).. loud and mean sounding bark until you get into the house.. then all licks and sniffs... (as long as we're home) she scared the crap out of the fedex guy a couple weeks ago when i came to the door to sign for a package.. he jumped about 4 feet backward when she barked from behind me.. lol
  5. it does not look like it is illegal if you purchase out of state and bring it back..
  6. havent gotten a paper in over a decade. i prefer to read unbiased news, not editorial hacks.
  7. The fact that the gov't is taking the clear first steps to disarm the population should send up red flags to everyone. If you don't feel like this is what is happening, I suggest you read history a little bit. They start by taking away smaller rights (ones that our forefathers strictly forbade against, mind you) and then will end up taking bigger ones. That's how revolutions start.
  8. FID and 2 P2P's were submitted on 1/14. Printed on 1/22. Waiting on Monmouth County to return the mental health check to my PD. After that, it will be ready (so the holdup is not my PD at this time, but the county). All other paperwork is in and ready and in order (references, etc).
  9. yeah, we were #2 (NY was #3).. i think NY is now #1, CA is #2 and we are #3 (and i think CT is #4).. sometimes i hate living in the northeast
  10. its funny that the "author" says that the vast majority of these bills will save lives and are common sense.. in fact, they are the exact opposite of "common sense". they are "feel good with no real effect" bills.. but non-gun owners dont really want to hear that.
  11. hmm.. interesting.. i guess it would be technically illegal to do what i said.. (re: shooting his guns, with him there of course).. then again, it would be on his friends' private property (acreage with a plinking range) and yet i could rent a gun from a range.. so stupid
  12. separate from what? im not bringing a gun, just ammo...
  13. well, i would definitely not be advertising that i had ammo.. it would be in a duffel bag in the back of the SUV along with our suitcases, etc. Plus, my dog will be in the back seat, so i highly doubt checking for ammo is going to be the biggest worry (and i dont normally go too fast, but since i'll be on NY roads for probably 3 hours, im just trying to get a sense).. sounds like I shouldnt have too much of an issue since me & the wife and the dog will just be on a trip up to western NY to visit the family
  14. right, i know we can buy and bring it back in to NJ, but can it be the other way around? (i only ask because of all the stupid new laws they've passed)
  15. I know this isn't exactly a NJ Gun Law question, but I am wondering something and hope someone might be able to shed some light on this.. Going to visit my family in NY (upstate/western, not City, and not going through the City either) any my father has a couple 9mm guns that he wants me to try out at his range when we go. However, if we are going to do that, I dont want him wasting all of his own 9mm ammo on it, so I was thinking of bringing a couple boxes of 9mm ammo with us when we go.. (and maybe some shotgun ammo as well) Question is, is it legal to bring ammo into NY State? (not a firearm, just ammo since i know clearly that bringing a handgun into NY state is illegal no matter what - if your destination is actually in NYS) Im not sure if anyone can answer it, but maybe those who live closer to the NY border have had experience with this? I couldnt find anything specifically about it by doing a google search..
  16. this.. between Firefox, Adblock and PeerBlock, works fantastically...(for me).. but i have a 64 bit OS, so i might give waterfox a try and see if it makes any speed difference
  17. good call.. just looked it up and there it is.. thanks for the info.. not so worried anymore.. the wife was almost tempted to call the police to ask about it last night.. lol as people commented on their FB page, the sound of freedom!
  18. what the hell are they testing? bombs?
  19. i am in Howell and i have heard the same thing. on and off, and its actually shaking my house.. WTF? i wouldn't mind it if i knew what it was
  20. cancel that.. apparently they dont ship to NJ (?)
  21. http://www.gandermou...=linkconn&lct=s Gander Mountain... not a great deal, but decent enough right about now.. 10 box limit.. $5 shipping on entire order (even if you order 10 boxes)
  22. very well done.. wasnt overdone, wasnt overly dramatic.. was simple and to the point.. and it didnt feature tons of "scary" looking guns.. point well made
  23. i would definitely follow up (nicely). I gave my PD a friendly call just yesterday to check on the status of my FPID/P2P application that I submitted on 1/14.. The woman (very courteously) told me that they were waiting on my employment verification letter (I thought they were going to call, but apparently they send a letter) and were still waiting on the Mental Health check (which will be perfectly fine, as I have never visited any shrink, anywhere, ever). I was shocked about the employment verification though, as she told me they sent the letter on 2/6 and there it was, 2 weeks later and my HR person (whom I am friends with) told me that no letter has come across her desk.. I called the PD back, and asked the nice woman if she could fax it to my HR person instead of wasting money on a stamp (hey, every penny counts, right?) and she gladly did so.. My HR person filled it out and faxed it back within 15 minutes.. See, if i didnt call, i wouldnt have known that they were waiting on the employment verification, and it would have sat there for who knows how long.. Now I just have to wait for Monmouth County (apparently the county does the mental health checks) to get off their arses and send it back (it will be a very short search as there is nothing to find).. Once that is done, i shall have my ID & permits.. So, a nice, courteous follow up just to see where things stand is never a bad thing. Just my 2¢
  24. this.. no way that someone buying 1000 rounds of ammo should be using NJSP resources.. and what caliber are those 1000 rounds? .22lr? lol.. that's only 10 boxes (or less if you get the 375 packs).. you could go through a third to half of those in any given day
