My first was a S&W M&P 9. The ergonomics are awesome and it's made in USA (lifetime warranty), it is my "go to" gun. It has a custom trigger, Trijicon HD sights and Talon grips. If you're considering a polymer handgun, I would check it out as an option.

Hoboken specifically sent a letter to my employer, stating I had applied for a handgun permit and asked if there was any reason they knew of that I should not be permitted to own a firearm. They then asked a series of questions such as my social security number, address, etc. They had no return instructions, no return envelope, etc. I had it sent directly to my boss. He signed it and filled out the info indent of me. Then I mailed the letter back myself to the PD main address. Luckily I am cool with him and have been working at my company for 8 years. This is exactly why the process takes months. They make the approval process complicated and provide no instructions to references and employers. You have to micro manage the process from start to finish. I did and I got my permit 2 weeks after being finger printed.

Apparently the attacker strategically went through the campus buildings, stabbing one person and moving to the next building. People probably did not run from him or fight back because they didn't realize what was occurring.

I am curious to learn the details of this story as they develop. You would think after the attacker stabbed one or two people, everyone else would either run away or fight back. 13 injuries inflicted by the attacker seems high? I don't think this story will help either side of the gun debate. Reality is there are disturbed and mentally ill people in this world, violence will happen. Problem is we blame the tools the crazies use to commit their crimes and don't address the root cause issues. We end up penalizing many law abiding citizens to ineffectively prevent violence that will ultimately occur one way or another.

This location is run by the police and apparently they're very strict. I've never personally been there, I'm relaying what a buddy of mine told me. Also as stated above, it's only open Sunday to the public.

Do you own your guns for home defense? If someone breaks into your house, are you going to take the time to put on gloves? Shoot with how you will use your gun in a real life situation. Just my 2 cents...

I would suggest emailing a copy of your FID immediately after you place your order. I know they are back logged with the volume of orders. Just be patient, you'll get your order. I placed one a few weeks ago and just received it. Also after your first order, they place your FID on file. So future purchases should be easier. With that said, I prefer to order ammo through Cabellas. Their customer service is excellent and they ship your order ASAP. It's just hard to find ammo on stock...
