  1. Nice, what gauge were you using, 20x aught zoom birdshot? Really, tho, nice work. My Gramps was a photog too. I can appreciate a nice pic.
  2. You make a valid point, but,,,,,I have seen his stuff at a couple of hows, and he does a pretty good job of making the stuff varied and pretty well made, with a good number of choices in finish and styles, making it far less cookie cutter than one might first think. And a cash deal for this stuff, without names or addresses, would mitigate some of your concerns. Being a litttttle practiced at furniture building, and carpentry being my trade, I've constructed a few places built-in to a home where one could conceal a wide range of items that NO burglar would be able to detect. Soaker tub surrounds, bow window trim, brick and wood fireplace mantles are a couple. Sorry I can't post pics, right now, but I could dig up some next week. No, not worried they'll be found, just have to dig in the basement files.
  3. Hey, I like the way you dressed up the posts. That spindle effect reminds me of some of the stuff Frank Loyd Wright has done, perhaps you were inspired from something of his? Anyhoo, it looks great, and the stairs too, and they look far too light and airy to support a human, nice design. "hot water baseboard, pex and furnace, ran the gas lines and trenches, painting, staining, interior wood walls and crown, all the window trim, interior doors, etc. It was a big job." Only all the stuff that shows a skill set, huh? As if any of that mattered, heh heh! Bet that wife is proud of you. If you ARE looking for a jointer, not a planer, I have two OOOLD Delta ones, and have been planning to divest myself of at least one, as well as some other tools, I'm looking to downsize. Get in touch with me if you'd be interested. I'm off 22 near Westfield/Plainfield if that's not too far to travel for such stuff.
  4. WOW! a Colt 45 revolver rifle, neat!
  5. Better make very sure she's interested in letting it go, or you may live to regret it. My wife gets VERY possessive of her belongings. If you ain't joshing, I'll contact my son about it. Just let me know what condition it's in and a ballpark idea of $$. I'll let him know it's from a member here, he is here too, now and then, tho not as much as he'd like, with his schooling.
  6. And that is why NJ will never be any different. The part that sucks most is "we" voted for the people who keep sticking it to us like this. Of course, it's not as if we had much of a better choice of who to choose from, nor anyone who could be counted on to tell us the real truth about what they would do. I haven't been able to vote FOR a politician since Ross Perot. It's been who I end up voting AGAINST. And that is why NJ will never be any different.
  7. Dang, dunno how I missed it, but thanks for clearing it up for me. (well, I tried.)
  8. This is my first topic thread beginning, so bear with me if this isn't quite the right place for it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Haven't run across this in my reading here all this last year, so maybe it hasn't been mentioned yet, or I just missed it. I know there's gonna be some controversy about it, but remember I'm just the messenger. Selling guns on TV? Who'da thunk it! I never did, but we have a new Shopping Channel! https://www.guntv.tv/ Let the FLAMING BEGIN!!
  9. Instead of pinning, they'll be hiding in their own little pvc bunker somewhere unmentionable! :-}
  10. My sons Beretta 92fs is lonely, wanna give yours a new home?
  11. Looks good. Nice neat opening, pretty darn close to square, not jagged, you know how to use a saw, fer sher! I like Lexel, but only where it doesn't show much. Phenoseal makes a good one, it's durable and easy cleanup, and mildew resistant, and comes translucent or several common tints besides white. You did box in the opening with tin to protect the fiberglass, or did the vent have enough depth to skip it? Hard to tell, but I have seen where they were 4 inches or better so you wouldn't have needed it. Love those cabinet handles, btw.
  12. Great, copied and pasted pics into email to my better half. Thanks lots, I know I'm going to enjoy these!
  13. 45 Frank shared, thanks. On my Father's Day wish list.
  14. It's been a while since I filled out the permit forms, so memory is fuzzy. If someone doesn't lie in filling it out, but answers one of the questions that we know will mean a denial, are they in fact violating any statutes? Surely just failing to qualify/pass isn't grounds for charges of some sort? I'd understand if one were to falsify but,,,,
  15. My first thought was well why not do it right the first time. Wow, a brain AND the ability to use it, Kudos! then when the GC seen it he would his company get a callback and charge time and material to move it. LOL I left a few days later after seeing some of his money making tricks. Now people understand a bit better why we contractors are right behind used car salesmen in complaints. I hope you pass your ethics and values along to another!!!!
  16. Ahhh, you had to mention those gremlins, didja? Yeah, one more place where it's just easier to do things smart than to try to EVADE a liitle thinking. Best looking woman on the planet HAS to have good bone structure to hang the skin on, right? One more place I put time in on is wall flatness, along with typical plumb. Even 12 inch tile goes on well if the wall is flat! Flat studs are worth sorting out for the tiled areas, shimming helps. (truth is, I'm usually the GC, and I avoid subs wherever I can.) If the studs go in right, the drywall can. If it goes up and is finished right, I don't have to fiddle as much with the crown moldings, all goes back to the framing being done right. If you get one of those GC's, point out the cost of FIXING the damn things after the paint is on! From your comments, I gotta guess you learned in the field, from an old timer or two who still gave his/her best efforts on ALL their jobs. Looks like you do it too.
  17. ROFL!! Man, you are one sick XXXXX! George Carlin woulda luvved ya!
  18. Must be a nice big wall you have there! Seems to me that there are plenty of those firearms that would be sought after by AMERICANS who'd like to own them, especially the "obsolete" ones. Our gov't could use the cash, perhaps for Veteran benefits? Surely enough of them are even legal in New Jerksey that it would be better than scrapping them like this. They are always complaining that there's not enuff $$ to pay for good medical care for for disabled vets and the like. Or is this too much like using common sense?
  19. I do kitchen makeovers all the time, and even bathrooms I don't even bother to ask, I just put p blocking on my own dime. If I want to put the cabinets in right, I don't wanna have to hunt for studs that might just miss the edges of the cabinets. Who in the hell wouldn't want a few chunks of 2x8 inside the bathroom walls when we ALL benefit from grab bars??????????
  20. If you like the movie, maybe you can make a shield like his!
  21. If you are flying or taking the train, you might consider checked baggage, {making sure to have sufficient insurance against loss due to the tendency for theft from those highly paid, trustworthy employees of the airlines, KOFF KOFF} just don't come into Newark or JFK or Laguardia, as people get hassled by NY laws, due to the Port Authority having some kind of jurisdiction, but unless I'm mistaken(been a while since I looked up the TSA rules) you can bring firearms so long as you declare and pack according to their rules. Can't comment on train lines, but it might be worth looking into. You'll need to have New Jerksey's rules for possessing handguns accounted for. They really make it a PIA. I think you can possess without getting paperwork since you already own, but I can't remember ALL the crap about it, just too complicated in this crummy place. The poster who suggested PA has a good point, if you can possibly make it work. I can see where it might not, but think long and hard about it. Hey, it could be possible to come by boat, if you ain't in a hurry. Kinda the long way around,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  22. Possession of a shotgun or rifle within New York City requires a permit, which is available to non-residents, and a certificate of registration. This seems a little off topic, perhaps, but he was pulled over in New Jerksey. So while the inference can be made that he possessed it in NY, it shouldn't, (I think) be the job of a Jersey officer to charge based on another state's laws. And, IMHO, a plastic 50 or 55 gallon drum, with the lid latched with the typical steel locking ring, seems to be just fine as a locked container not accessible to the driver when in the back of said pickup truck. Ammunition being separate, well I have to admit I'm just not confident I can say if that's a violation. Just my opinion, worth about what you paid for it.
  23. Our current "leader of the free world" was a 1st term senator when he was elected, not many knew his name either.
