I lurked on here for months before joining and doing research on AR-15's before I finally bought one. I am a long-time pistol shooter that never went to online gun forums. I only found out about the anti-gun laws from reading it here and in American Rifleman magazine. I was also at both Trenton rallies, albeit outside both times. I think like a few mentioned a lot of us work and would have to take time off. I am lucky I work in Trenton and can attend these rallies. We will never get the media support or coverage necessary to get gun-owners out there. It has to be advertisements in hunting magazines, newspapers, flyers, etc. I think distributing flyers at gunstores and gun clubs may help also, but that may only attract the hunting crowd that is not fully behind us. But it cannot hurt either. I would like to see the NRA spend some money on tv ads in NJ also. I would like to know where all the money I donate to them goes.

I have several hundred rounds of two different calibers in my bugout bag. They rest I keep in .50cal ammo cans. My dilema now is whether to use my SHTF .223 rounds I have stored up for practice shooting. I want to become more proficient with my .223 but don't want to be caught short handed. I will buy .223 .40cal, .22 whenever I get a chance or see it for a decent price.

You cannot use logic and reason with these people. They have an agenda they are trying to push through on a national level. Mainor is just trying to placate us all because he looked like an ass at the hearing. I emailed him that night and received his "canned" early response saying he wanted me to call him to talk. I want to meet him at his office in Trenton though. Another thing to remember is he has no power. These gun bills are controlled by Cryan and Sheila Oliver. Both hate Sweeney and Christie and will do anything to embarass them.

Depends, Could be 2nd degree. All depends on the Prosecutor and what the want to charge. He could be looking at 5 years. Title 2C:39-5 Unlawful possession of weapon.

Actually that is not true. In CO in their Senate it is a 20-15 Democrat advantage. Fishnut- That was my point. They don't buy ammo in NJ gun or sports stores.

I have never been asked to show my FID card at Sportsmen's Center or Cheyenne. I never heard of this just to handle a pistol or rifle. I would have asked them to sight the law that requires this and then left the store. Bad enough you have to show your FID to purchase ammo...that is just nuts. Do gangbangers do this?

If he is active LEO and an Undersheriff he can open carry on duty. If he is a retired LEO and an Undersheriff he can conceal carry as a retired cop, but not for his "official duties" as an Undersheriff. As Undersheriff he has no arrest powers.

I received an email response from Asm. Charles Mainor today also. As I work in Trenton, I am considering contacting him and would love to meet him at the State House and provide him with the quantitative facts about how gun control does not reduce crime.

I did a little research into Joe Cryan today. He is a Union County Undersheriff. If he is an active law enforcement officer and Undersheriff he can carry. If his job duties require him to carry he can conceal carry. If he is a retired LEO and an Undersheriff he can carry as retired LEO, but not on "official duty" for his Undersheriff duties as he has no arrest powers. I am going to find out what he is responsible for (i.e. Warrants? FIU? DVU? etc.) As an FYI, Undersheriff's are appointed positions. They are all political appointees. S.

That Mainor and Weinberg should be arrested for treason. She went way over the two minutes. This committee was a farce and no intention of listening to the public in attendance. Joe Cryan should be embarassed to be an Undersheriff.

I really wish I could have made it inside to see all of this. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, at this committee meeting their minds are already made up. The politicians simple do not care. They think there is not enough of us to make them lose their jobs and they are probably right. They never lose their political bases. I have written over ten politicians and have only received only four responses and basically they told me to F.U. that they are voting for the AWB regardless of my letter.

I know. I saw the two black guys say something to him. I just didn't want to see some of the people there confront him and make us all look bad.

I was there today also. I was not allowed in though as the Trooper told me the room was full. I was outside listening to patriots speak for about an hour. I was there when that black guy interupted. My take is though, people should have let him speak. I didn't want the press to make us look a bunch of white racists that didn't let a black man speak. I told one guy that even though we don't have to like what he was saying, he still has the 1st Amendment right to say it just like we do to protect our Second Amendment rights. He piped down and then eventully walked away. I just didn't want to see people confront him and possibly get into a fight. That is just what the media would have jumped on.

I received the same canned response from him on Friday, 2/8/13. Nice to see a personal touch to his letters.

Not too bad a turn out considering the horrible weather conditions. A little about myself: Have been a long-time pistol owner. Last year I got interested in the AR-15 platform. I am hooked. lol. If you are driving into Trenton the best place to park closest to the State House would be the Trenton Marriot parking lot. What time do the hearings start? Stone
