I have a 686 Plus. Love it. Can't go wrong with the S&W revolver.

The materials the knife is made from. The type of steel used also. I have a small Sebenza made with S35vn steel; it is supposed to be a higher quality steel over something like AUS8 . Different steel has higher grade on the Rockwell Hardness scale. The higher the number the better (i.e. 59-60 on the RH scale). Also, with the Sebenza, I can send it back to Chris Reeves for tune up and repairs under warranty.

More infighting?
Stonecoldchavez replied to Gunsrlegal's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
What, if anything, measurable has NRA/ANJRPC done for NJ residents? Alex has had more results and exposure in 4 years than they have had in 20 years. I don't always agree with his methods, but I sure damn agree with his results. At least he is on the offensive, while I see NRA/ANJRPC always being on the defensive and being reactive instead of proactive. And I don't buy the "behind the scenes things are happening" BS either. Thank you all for you input. HE- thanks for the Kahr mention. I will check that out. I have never seen them in a LGS though. Anyone have a Walther PPS M2?

Thank you all.

Hello- I am considering purchasing a single stack polymer handgun. It can be 9mm or 40; I will narrow that down later. I am looking at the following: Walther PPS M2 S&W Shield Glock 43 Ruger LC9S Springfield XDS Any pro's/con's, thoughts, suggestions, or opinions on these or other single stacks would be greatly appreciated. Some background information: My intended use would be for out-of-state CCW. I have held each one at the LGS, but have yet to shoot any other than the SW Shield (9mm) once awhile ago. I have a G23 already so I am familiar with the G43 functions and features. I do not currently own any 9mm pistols. Thanks, S.

Thank you. How long does it take to get there from NJ? Was not really looking to head in to DC.

Anyone gone to the NRA Museum in Virginia? What is it like? Is it just a day trip? Couple of hours? Overnight trip? Is there anything else to see and do around or near the museum? Thanks for any advise. S.

Pictures of the M1.

Nick- I looked at the rifle today. Yes, $850 plus 200+ rounds of free ammo for it. It has new stock and new barrel. He told me he got it from a reliable member of his gun club who had it re-barreled is all he knew. I saw that the receiver and the bolt were marked with Springfield Armory stamps. The rifle looks brand new. If I could only get the pics to upload.... er. He told me he has only shot it a few times. He used old ammo and brand new. He "thinks" there should be no muzzle erosion as it has a new barrel. He also has hundreds of rounds of blanks for it....why, I don't know. I believe they were given to him.

What other info would you require? i have the serial number. Yes, I want a shooter. That is his asking price plus 200+ rounds of ammo. Che? Please elaborate.

Hello- I have an opportunity to purchase an M1 Garand from a friend. He says it is a Springfield Armory one manufactured in 1943 with a newer barrel and new stocks. What would the value of this rifle? Thanks, S.

Yet another stupid New Jermany law enacted
Stonecoldchavez replied to Howard's topic in General Discussion
The law was designed to keep the scum bags from chaining their pit bulls outside to a tree all year round. -
Not really an opportunity to. There were many Prosecutor's Detectives, few SP, Trenton PD around that you could not ask someone of they wanted to sell you their shotgun. They cleared the weapons outside on the street, then you were escorted inside the church to one line with a detective holding your weapon to a table where they recorded the make, model, serial number. Then they gave you receipt to take to another section where they took that receipt and gave you your cash and another receipt. I only briefly spoke to the guy in front of me as we were walking in and then the guy behind me as we walked out together. PS: Let me add to this. I did not want to go to this. I did it for two reasons: to assist a friend who was away that weekend and could not go. 2nd, to see for myself what went on and to be able to report it here. Most of the firearms I observed being turned in or already turned in where hunting rifles/shotguns and BB guns/rifles. Most looked like junk; some stuff was definitely worth more than what the State was paying.

I went yesterday to the one in Trenton. Sponsored by AG's office; run by Mercer Prosecutor's Office. I turned in two old BB gun pistols. In my time there, my observations were that there were no minorities there turning in their "burners" or "assault rifles". All white men (not from Trenton in my opinion); Couple of older men turning in non working shotguns, one gun turned a non-working over/under shotgun, one guy an older break-open pistol, and another one with older hunting rifles (some looked old; octagonal barrel and precussion cap (?) fire. In discussions with my sources there, no "assault rifles" had been turned in yet. My sources said a few sawed-off shotguns had been turned in; the rest old shotguns/rifles mainly. Some new 870 pumps (who would do that?). I also inquired if any M1 Garands or 1903 rifles, etc. had been turned in. This source was not sure if any had been turned in yet, but told me they would be offered up to historical museums and not destroyed. I hope he wasn't BSing me. I was disappointed in seeing some of the stuff that had been turned in though. If people knew the real value of what they had....a lot more than $150.

My condolences to you and your family.

So the "squeaky wheel gets the most grease" plan of action from the SP?
-
Mrs. Peel- That happens all the time with the State Police. Mine were dated ten days prior to the time they contacted me for pick up. It was explained to me, the same to you, that the permits get dated in Trenton, then sent by Pony Express to the barracks. It is a terrible and antiquated system - just what the government wants. They want people to be aggravated and discouraged from applying. Quite frankly that works. I hate having to apply. It takes me three to four months to get permits from the Bordentown SP barracks.
-
"Are they paying cash? " Yes. Cash. No questions asked. In Trenton the last time the turn in was run by the Prosecutor's Office. I would assume it will be the same this time. Yes, there are LEO's there. Prosecutor's Detectives.

Car Repair - Tool Kit Recommendation
Stonecoldchavez replied to jackandjill's topic in General Discussion
I have mostly Craftsman tools at home. Old ones when they were not junk like they are now. I have an older Craftsman tool chest I have had since the 80's; then purchase another one a few years ago. Night and day in the build quality and metal gauge thickness. Shame. Anywho, I carry something similar to this in my truck for emergencies. Decent quality Stanley tools and the get the job done. No issues with them. http://www.sears.com/stanley-97-543-150-piece-mechanics-socket-and/p-00946333000P?sid=isx20140327xdsa&psid=601x42708&knshCrid=197904171817&k_clickID=b65707ef-bd3a-449d-af39-cfadbb0f1dfb&gclid=CPbR5f2q_NQCFdiLswodD8AM6Q S.
