I'll concede it's a very interesting gun, though one of the few 'interesting' guns I don't aspire to own someday. And yeah, I'd also like to see a video of it being shot at night.
  2. That is a good question. If the state is asking for more time to "research historical precedence", as @ESB noted above, then standard capacity would seem to be that precedence.
  3. I've carried my wallet in my right hip pocket since Jr High. I'm trying now to get used to it being in my left hip pocket, since right hip would put it too close to an IWB worn at 4 o'clock, if I'm asked for ID.
  4. I knew a guy who used to do that when I lived in Idaho. Light loads with a dried clay bullet, as I recall. It would fragment when fired, both to give a little dispersion and make it a bit easier to score hits on horseback, and also to eliminate the chance of an errant .45 LC slug getting away from the shooter.
  5. Yours was cut AND folded? Lucky! You got the deee-luxe version. I got a full sheet of paper right off the ink jet printer. The photo was glued on, but that was it.
  6. Thanks! I'll continue to bump it once a week or so, but we're all hoping the list never becomes so long as to be burdensome.
  7. When I took the class for the UT/FL permits, the instructor recommended loading/unloading with the muzzle pointed squarely at a doorjamb (on the side opposite the light switch). That puts several 2x4s downrange of the muzzle. NOT as good a solution as the unloading station or bucket of sand already suggested here, but it's something.
  8. But that shouldn’t be a blanket recommendation. Know your gun! If it works reliably with 10 + 1 loaded, then that’s the way to load it. Loading down by one is a crutch, covering for a mag or gun that isn’t quite working as intended. Load down if you must for reliability, but try to figure out and remedy the root cause of the problem.
  9. My thinking when I started the thread was that it would attract (not undeserved) bashing of businesses that post signs, calls for boycotts, and other political discussion. But you make a very good point about more eyes on the thread being useful. I've no objection if you want to move it to the more open side of the forum.
  10. I got out ahead of that boycott; I haven't been in an AC casino for many years.
  11. Bumping this thread. I'm encouraged by how very few businesses have been called out thus far as having 'no guns' policies, but at the same time I want to be sure any of which we're aware are added to the top post. So if you've seen a 'no guns' sign, let me know!
  12. I was asked to smoke something for a Super Bowl party I attended--who was I to say 'no'? I made three racks of baby back ribs on the WSM smoker, and three dozen ABT/jalepeno poppers. Oak chunks provided the smoke, and the ribs were on for about 4 1/2 hours, the poppers for a little under 2.5 hours, initially at 225F, raising to 270F in the last hour. I plated just a few of the ribs and poppers for the photo. The recipes used are a couple of favorites I keep coming back to. Jalapeño poppers Best Ribs in the Universe
  13. I have a S&W 915 I'd be willing to sell for $375, buyer pays transfer fees. It's in great shape, still in the factory box, with two 10-round magazines. Pics of a different 915 are here, I can send pics of the actual gun on request. https://www.d4guns.com/product/smith-wesson-model-915-9mm/ I've got five or six 15-round mags vacationing out-of-state, should the buyer be outside of NJ, or if NJ's ban on standard capacity mags gets overturned before the sale. The 915 shipped as a 15-round gun, and uses the same mags as the S&W 59 series, so they're still easy to find in 10 and 15 round capacity.
  14. OK. I think we have no choice but to hand him over.
  15. Not that I'm aware of, though this scenario reminds me of the Luby's Cafeteria shooting in Texas back in 1991. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luby's_shooting I remember it because I remember Suzanna Hupp, who lost both of her parents in the shooting, calling out Texas for not allowing CCW. She had left her .38 revolver in her car outside, rather than risk carrying it into the Luby's on her person. From the Wikipedia article: The Texas State Rifle Association and others preferred that the state allow its citizens to carry concealed weapons.[22] Democratic governor Ann Richards vetoed such bills, but in 1995 her Republican successor, George W. Bush, signed one into force.[24] The law had been campaigned for by Suzanna Hupp, who was present at the massacre; both of her parents, Alphonse "Al" Gratia and Ursula "Suzy" Gratia, were killed by Hennard.[25] She later testified that she would have liked to have had her .38 revolver,[10] but said, "It was a hundred feet away in my car." (She had feared that if she was caught carrying it she might lose her chiropractor's license.)[23] Hupp testified across the country in support of concealed handgun laws, and was elected to the Texas House of Representativesin 1996.[26]
  16. That sounds like something NJ would do. Fortunately, he was also charged with violating plenty of laws that were in effect at the time of the shooting.
  17. Ah, I understand now. That page is in the 'First Amendment Lounge', which does require a password in order to view any pages there. Security is tight, it would require a bank of quantum computers running the latest classified cryptography software in order to hack into this inner sanctum of the NJ Gun Forum. As a helpful workaround, the password is printed for all to see at the bottom of the login page for the First Amendment Lounge. You'll spot it now that you know it's there. I believe you have to re-enter it every three days (or maybe it's weekly, per @CMJeepster) in order to maintain access to that forum. In keeping with password security best practices, the password changes every...well, OK, it has never been changed.
  18. There isn't a password. If you add the county, city, business name in a response to the thread (or PM me) I'll see it and add the information to the top post. It was the best way I could think of to keep all of the data in one post, rather than scattered throughout the thread.
  19. Call those businesses out as you find them, and I'll add them to this list: List of NJ Businesses Posting 'No Guns' Signs
  20. If you decide to add a bench top jointer, let me know...I've got one I'd planned to sell.
  21. I saw that. Already updated the ‘businesses where you can’t carry’ page
  22. It's not UnderArmour, but the concealed carry aisle at your local Walmart stocks these polyester base layers for $7.48, in a variety of sizes and colors. Go down a size from what you're used to, for a snug fit. They run long, so they stay tucked in. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Athletic-Works-Men-s-Active-Core-Short-Sleeve-T-Shirt-Size-S-3XL/832673974
