  1. Of course.....I was an active vol FF for about....(counting on my fingers...carry the one...) 31 years, with three different depts.
  2. Also something to think about - I don't know what the going rate is, but unless these are very high-priced items, I suspect you'll have a difficult time finding anyone to consign them for 10%.
  3. From a corporate perspective, their best bet is to take the silver, THEN move-out at the earliest opportunity. Remington has been in NY since its beginning; I suspect they will keep a minor presence to keep their contact with the past, and to ensure they keep the NY State money. But seriously, who's surprised?
  4. After reading this article, I was hung-up on trying to figure out if this guy Darryl Isherwood or Bryan Miller wrote the article. Cant seem to tell where one stops and the other starts.
  5. Delran Junior Marksmen - on Taylor's Lane just over the Cinnaminson/Delran line (on the right coming from Cinnaminson) is open on weekends. I do not know if they have a junior program. I was a member years ago...its a good range. They are open on weekends for shooting. Their web page is: http://www.delranjuniormarksman.com/ My "home" range is Telco - they have a junior program, but I know little about it. Telco is in Atco, roughly across from Atco Drag Strip. Telco is not an "open" range; they are open to non-members for trap on sundays at noon for february, then March thru November on Monday nights. Telco is not open for general shooting. Their web page is: http://www.telcosportsmensclub.com/
  6. Interesting question......when did a internet-activated cell phone become a required hunting accessory? I think most (like me) are thinking about filling-out the old paper tag.
  7. The cashier isn't threatening to write a citation for a BS violation, then telling me to "tell it to the judge", which will cost me $500-$1000 for a lawyer to defend in court.
  8. Did she get the 10/22 with the red laminated stock? I REALLY liked that color....was tempted to buy it myself.
  9. Bullcrap - the original statement was he tried to write, but the pen didn't work, and the indents in the license were plainly visible. The rest, in my opinion, is harassment.
  10. I disagree. Law enforcement officers wonder why they are held in such low esteem.......it's because of crap like this.
  11. No, you're trying to comply and they bust you anyway.....there's a difference
  12. Yup - why I didn't go home with much in the way of ammo-prices weren't great. Only ammo I came home with was some low-recoil Rio 00 buckshot @$20/7 boxes (bought it before & liked it-singly they are $3, a case was more than I wanted/needed $127? I think?) and three boxes of 12 gauge clay loads @$6/box (liked the guy so I bought some of what he had left over-he had cases@$55/case but had sold-out for the day-more tomorrow.
  13. Aww....and I was keepin an eye out for ya...
  14. I just got back from the saturday edition of the Oaks Gun show. Very busy - lots of people there. NICS was screwed-up for most of the day, which severely impacted firearm sales. A LOT of vendors were severely PO'ed, and feel that this show may end-up being a net loss for them... Ammo was there, not in massive quantities (and not particularly cheap), but enough that you could likely find what you wanted/needed....except .22 rimfire. A couple of the big vendors mentioned that the small amount they had was sold earlier this morning. The only .22 LR that I saw was being sold at $5 per 50 round box....or worse. For reloaders, there were a few vendors, and they had powder, though not the sort I am familiar with. When I asked about the stuff I DID know how to load (Bullseye, Unique, etc) I was told some very disturbing news - that those powders would be UNAVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. Not sure what is going on, because I did see other powders with the Alliant name, as well as different IMI and Hodgdon canisters, (don't ask me which, I dont know). Primers were available - I got 2 boxes of CCI small pistol at $30 a thousand. 7.62x54R tins of 440 were going for $125. Firearm prices varied from merely OK to crazy. I saw several S&W M&P 15 .223 sport AR (which I have been considering) in the $700 range. You could not find a Garand for under $1300. A couple of the vendors had crazy prices on Mosin Nagant 91-30's and 44's, but most were in the $130-140 range for a 91-30; older/laminated for more. Ruger 10-22's started at about $250 and climbed rapidly. For shotties, nice 870 wingmasters were a pricey $340 or so, and there were a lot of the Stevens 320 in various security forms were asking $239 or so. Doubles were crazy...fox model B's (upscale stevens 311's) were going for crazy money (6-700), but there were a lot of the lesser-known brands of over/unders going for 4-500. You could still walk out of the show with a pump shotgun for $150 - I saw several older (but good condition) Stevens 67 & 77 pumps in that range. One more day - Sunday - and there may still be firearm deals to be had, as a LOT of deals were left on the table due to NICS delays. Good luck all
  15. Same here.....I've used them before; they are hit-or-miss. I won't use 'em again. I use the internet to get the name/phone of a local florist, then call them and set-up a delivery. They're happy, I'm happy (no additional FTD charges) and the recipient is happy.
  16. IMHO, this is a "no win" scenario for you. Whatever way it plays-out, you are the 'bad guy', because you instigated the situation. I would occasionally mention it, but that's as far as I would go. Yes, it would be nice to have one or two from your father...but at what cost?
  17. Has anyone been there yet? I'm off this Friday and i'm really thinking of taking a ride up...
  18. If you don't buy it ... tell us where it is! I don't have a current permission slip, but for that deal i'd go get one

    Skeet/trap shotgun

Ogfarmer is right...if you're near the Clinton WMA, coming out for one of the shoots is a great way to figure out what you like and what works for you. There are also shotguns that pop-up for sale all the time...Your best bet (that I've found lately) is to keep looking here and on the NJ Hunter List. (www.newjerseyhunter.com). There's nothing wrong with used; good-quality shotguns will outlast most of us and hold their value well.
  20. Sadly....most of them have closed-shop in the past 10 years or so.
  21. Been reloading for years, and have all sorts of bits and pieces to make boolets. About the only thing I don't do is cast my own; mostly for lack of need (but their prices are increasing, so I may get into casting...) Watch different places like here, Craig's List, NJ hunter list, and your club bulletin board for equipment. Shows are also good; most reloading presses are built like tanks and used ones are a bargain. Just go slow and PAY ATTENTION. Reloading is easy, but one mistake can be very bad...both to you and your firearm.
  22. That's the beauty of Bullseye...I can load at 2.7 gr for both .38 and .45, and a pound cannister lasts and lasts and lasts.... AND if you're not paying close attention, you have no business reloading.
