  1. I concur on all points. And agree the 2013 list will be their starting point for next year. I would assume they have already generated an updated list of anti-2A bills, based off that 2013 list, have them ready to go when the time comes. Moreover, I cannot begin to fully express how disgusted and disrespected I feel as someone who was born, raised, and have raised a family here in NJ. I increasingly feel like part of an oppressed class of citizens whose politicians are striving to banish from this state. Is this any different that the many instances in history where populations were persecuted and turned into refugees? Perhaps a bit dramatic of a comparison, but essentially the same. I have too many family roots here to completely up and move at this time. However, have begun to give thought to acquiring a 2nd home(vacation/retirement) in Pa. Perhaps over time make it my primary residence. Have begun floating the idea with my wife as well. The anticipated onslaught next year may be the catalyst for me to do so. (Mipa, at some future date, I intend to reach out to you for your wise counsel concerning Pennsylvania. Thank you in advance.)
  2. Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    Snow?

I normally forget and do not. However, a short while ago I did in fact put some calcium cloride outside my front door and threshold to my garage door.

    Snow?

All ready here as well. Generator and snowblower have been run today. All vehicles checked for oil and fluid levels, tire pressure, etc. Food, water, etc all set. Earlier this afternoon prepositioned my generator outside. Am using a "Gentent" to prctect it. Will see how it holds up to blizzard conditions. Put a full propane tank in the barbecue grill. Plus various post Hurricane Sandy preps that are always at the ready should they ever be needed.
  5. Timely thread. I don't have Gieco but will be speaking with NJ Manufacters today re a quote. Will be sure to comfirm they do not require use of either a phone app or OBD reader.

    Snow?

I store my generator(a Honda EU3000is) in my garage. Given this may turn out to be a major storm with heavy wet snow, high winds, etc; the possibility of power outages are of concern. So am inclined to pre-position my generator outside near my backyard where it would be running it if needed. Moving it there after heavy snow has fallen would be a real PITA. I do not have a shed-like enclosure for it but do use a Gen-Tent specifically designed for it. Also filled our cars and several additional gas containers last evening. And of course had to "go get the bread and milk"

    Snow?

Might as well bump this thread given the upcoming storm. Looks like it could be a bad one. Below is a link to a great local weather forecaster. http://tristatestormwatch.com/forecast
  8. Like I originally stated, there are nuances to what I shared. Mipa, thanks for clarifying one of them. (Although respectively, not sure I appreciate the "this guy's word" comment, but oh well.). I was merely trying to express, in response to his original inquiry, that there is no law prohibiting you from crossing (outbound) the NJ border. Regarding evidence I agree. Last Saturday when I went to PA, I in fact had everything you mentioned(EFGA membership, website printout, Google map and route, targets, AS WELL as US Law Shield coverage and my Garmin GPSMAP76 actively tracking and storing my entire journey. Like you said, prep was minimal but consequences life altering should anything go awry legally. Part of the conditioning of having to live in "no unreasonable deviation" New Jersey.
  9. Ramnj, congrats on receiving your permit. I just turned 64 and CC'd Saturday for the first time ever. You may find my thread below helpful. http://www.njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/85208-nj-pa-concealed-carry-logistics/page-1

    Uplula

Wait until you get arthritis in your hands, you will become a big fan of Uplula.
  11. Am pleased to report that, as planned, I concealed carried today for this first time. Went to EFGA-->Walmart-->Applebees-->Dunkelbergers-->back to EFGA and then home. Racked up 223 miles. Was a very satisfying day and I feel a nice sense of accomplishment. Ended up using a Vedder Light Tuck IWB holster at the 4 o'clock position. No retention issues whatsoever. Was more than tolerable to wear with my Glock 26 over the course of 6 hours and approx 70 miles driving within PA. Of course, being a cold day, I had the luxury of wearing a sweatshirt cover garment. While mindful of it, managed to not worry excessively about printing. I am confident I didn't.. No one batted an eyelash. regards
  12. I attended the seminar in Brick two weeks ago. Well worth it. Evan Nappen was in fact the presenter. No sales pressure. However, I did sign my wife and I up for US Law Shield (50 state plan). (I went intending to do so.) They clearly stated that when you call the Emergency number, it will be one of the attorneys from Nappen's lawfirm that will answer the phone. (For NJ I assume.)
  13. Excellent. Implies postive movement on 2A issues in the background. Let the Democrats and MSM focus on their fake Russian conspiracies while we quietly get our rights restored. Perhaps some of our many cuts (as in death by a thousand little cuts) will begin to heal.
  14. It was a 24 hour promotion via Facebook which ended 10:00 PST YESTERDAY.
  15. It is even more complicated. I read yesterday that with the main spillway turned off, they will also use the coming days to remove the material that has been built up in the river at the base of the spillway. Apparently that build up has caused the water to back up into the exhaust vents of the hydro-electric plant which is off camera to the right. That plant is currently offline for that and other reasons. So yes, a very delicate dance and precarious position they are still in. If heavy rains return and that dam again reaches it's max capacity, things are going to downhill very quickly. (Nice pun!).
  16. Btw, for carrying in my home and on my property in the aftermath of a SHTF situation(think the next Hurricane Sandy), I also have a Blackhawk Serpa Concealment OWB Holster, (#410502BK-R) for my Glock 19. My Glock 26 and 34 both also work with it fine. Have not yet considered it for CC but maybe I should. (Update: just tried. Great for indoors but otherwise prints badly.)
  17. With the caveat that I am a CC and holster novice, I like the Alien Gear 3.0 IWB holster holster and plan on keeping it(am near the end of the 30 day return period). I also purchased and just received yesterday a Vedder LightTuck Kydex IWB holster which I am also evaluating. (The beginnings of my "drawer full of holsters", lol.). I did immediately notice that the Vedder, while smaller overall, seems to make a more abrupt and awkward looking bulge as opposed to the AG which seems to create a more gradual natural bulge around my waistline. (Am 6', 193) When I was on the phone with AG customer service yesterday, the rep mentioned that the 3.0 IWB holster is really intended to be carried in the 4:00 o'clock position as opposed to Appendix carry. However, I would really prefer to carry AIWB at this time. I seem to be able to conceal better there and am more mentally relaxed being able to easily keep an eye on it. Having said that, physical comfort, or at least tolerating it, while sitting/driving is still an open issue. BHunted, Fatty: in what positions do you wear yours (when CC'ing, sitting, driving, etc.)?
  18. Will check into his classes. Thanks for the recommendation. Btw, when I CC this weekend for the first time, I plan to have my Glock 26 loaded but not one in the chamber. I will re-evaluate that next time and after I take addl training.
  19. With regards to CC training, I intend to see what classes GSSC offers. I plan to also call Gun4Hire and obtain info on their NRA Defensive Handgun class as well as their Urban Pistol 1 class. Not sure of the difference but will likely sign up for one of them to start with. The bottomline is CC training is my priority at this time in my firearms journey. Btw, I plan to CC for the first time this Saturday; in PA. My plan is EFGA-->Walmart-->Dunkelburgers-->EFGA, then back home with gun stored of course. My goal is modest, baby steps. Get experience with holster placement/comfort, try not to print or have the gun fall out(heaven forbid), get mentally accustomed to CC, etc.
  20. I resolved my issue. Within SMUGMUG, I needed to also first specify the image size I wanted to share before copying the link they generate. I then paste it here in the post dialogue after selecting the "Image" icon. Specifically, you can now see the image of my Texas LTC in the thread I created in the Training forum. PK90: My understanding, possibly incorrect, was that there was no option to upload directly from your harddrive(ie the usual way). The "Image" button asks for a URL. Perhaps the "My Media" function enables that but I am not familiar with it.
  21. I don't think the Amazon issue was the source of my problem since I encountered that about a week ago. Once AWS fixes their issue, I will try again. If I encounter any further challenges, I will post more detail. Btw, such an outage with Amazon Web Services S3 storage is a very big deal. S3 is supposed to be inherintly fault tolerant since all S3 data volumes reside in what are known as Availability Zones. Each storage volume resides on multiple disks in seperate datacenters. Their stated SLA is at least 99.9%. Looks like they will owe service credits to a lot of customers. Murphy never sleeps.
  22. I work in IT and am almost embarrassed to ask, but how do I include a picture in my post. I have a Smugmug account. Tried specifying the Smugmug link in my post. However received an error when clicking on the link in the post. If I recall, it was "wrong file type". (I did try searching here to no avail.)
  23. Thanks for the heads up. Several weeks ago I purchased an Alien Gear holster. Called customer service this morning after seeing your post and they agreed to honor the promotion. For just just the cost of shipping ($3.95) they are sending me the mag carrier. Another example of their excellent customer focus and service.
  24. Welcome Steve, I will chime in on several your points. Others can help further clarify if I mis-state anything. As always there are nuances to all of this that I will not address in the interest of brevity. - You do not need a carry permit to travel out of NJ to another state. Federal law applies (FOPA). Of course your firearm needs to be properly stored in transit. - Once in PA, it is helpful to have a carry permit from ANY state when transporting your firearm in your car. Otherwise you must be traveling directly to/from a range. - You may open carry in Pa except for Phili. No carry permit needed. - To conceal carry in Pa you need a carry permit recognized by Pa. (e.g. Texas, NH; but not Fl or Utah).
