  1. I did buy one. Overall I'm happy with it. As promised, they have continued to update and add features to the app. I don't use it as often as I should.
  2. The Victim and CNJFO are reporting an arrest has been made. No additional info. Edit to add: For whatever reason the link to the CNJFO post is not appearing. Maybe @Smokin .50 can comment?
  3. My workload has actually increased. I'm working to convert traditional face to face training material into a virtual instructor lead format. The challenge is I don't have access to equipment, props, etc... that we typically use. So it has to be tweaked a good amount. Also working to update older self-paced online training with more current info and convert it to a virtual instructor lead format. Sitting in front of two computers and four monitors non-stop all day is no fun. I'm usually up and moving around.
  4. I'm very familiar with that. The AR site helped me immensely; yes I have Meathead's book.
  5. I've decided. If I get tax money back from the feds through this stimulus package; 50% of it is going to 2A orgs. NJ2AS and CNJFO will be the top two.
  6. Why not take advantage of being frustrated having lives turned upside down? Did some dry firing during lunch break. Not too bad.
  7. I didn't want this to get lost in the other related threads. Hopefully it can help someone here or someone that knows someone here. Please keep this thread neutral so it doesn't go off the rails or get moved to 1A. https://jobs.covid19.nj.gov/ https://nj1015.com/nj-needs-workers-on-the-front-line-companies-look-to-hire-12000/
  8. Wait, you're trying to talk me out of buying a gun? I have thought of that, I need to check if wml are allowed in USPSA; they are not allowed in IDPA.
  9. To offset my non-firearms related thread, and since the topic somewhat came up in another thread.... I occasionally suffer from mild analysis paralysis. Usually when trying to decide on a design for a project build or when making an important purchase. That is a key reason why I had not yet purchased a weapon mounted light. The last couple of weeks pushed me to just order one. I went with the Streamlight TLR-1, amazingly enough Amazon says it will be here Friday, not the second half of April like most items now. The new "problem" is that this will be going on my home defense pistol, which is the same pistol I use for competitions. Which means I will need to remove/reinstall it often. since I don't have it in hand yet, I don't know how well it will hold up to such use long term. Therefore, I need to buy another pistol. We can ignore the fact that I've been planning another purchase for months anyway.
  10. My FIL would boil ribs before putting them on a gas grill. My wife would do that or make me take her to Chili's before I started to make Real BBQ. After her first bite of my ribs she said I never had to take her to Chili's again. My MIL requested one of my Briskets for her B-day this year.
  11. Just about six hours on my smoker. Benefit of being quarantined and working from home.... Ribs on a work day!
  12. CJR&PC is partially open. Indoor pistol range is closed. Outdoor ranges are open to members only, no guests. It's easy-peasy to maintain social distancing there.
  13. Maybe we'll see "fire sales" on like new guns and excess ammo once this is all over. Same deal as we see with generators, snow blowers, etc...
  14. Hints of a partial shutdown of NICS. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/03/fbi-threatens-shutdown-of-gun-purchase-background-checks-as-massive-surge-in-sales-creates-backlog/ "The NSSF also warned that the Brady transfer date after a sale may now be extended beyond the three business days that it normally takes. “The three business day timeframe does not begin until relevant state offices are open for business,”
  15. Do you think every lawyer takes on every case that walks in his door or rings his phone? We get it, you don't like him.
  16. The references receive an email with a link to a survey asking them questions about the applicant. This replaces the phone calls they would receive from the po-po. I've never been on that side of the fence, but from what I understand it is just a few questions and the whole process is less than a minute or two.
  17. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F?!?!?! That is grounds for a beating when things are "normal".
  18. I had planned to apply for more permits next month. By my estimations, that timing would have allowed for the new to come in at about the same time as current expiring and/or being used. With the current craziness going on I just applied for them now. One reference already submitted; I'm confident the other will be done by the end of business today.
  19. The way I am reading it, that was the issue. In the Judge's instructions to the Jury he said she had a duty to retreat, which is not correct. 2C:3-4 Use of force in self-protection. (i)The actor is not obliged to retreat from his dwelling, unless he was the initial aggressor; and https://law.justia.com/codes/new-jersey/2013/title-2c/section-2c-3-4/ I believe there needs to be consequences against the Judge in the original case.
  20. I did a search for the Defendants name assuming the case had been discussed here, but nothing came up. "In her appeal, Vertetis argued that Superior Court Judge Stephen Taylor was mistaken when telling jurors that she had a duty to retreat if she was in danger and that this could derail her self-defense claim. In fact, her attorney argued that she had no obligation to retreat under the “castle” doctrine, which says that deadly force is justified when defending yourself in your own home. The appellate court agreed with that point. “The (jury) charge not only omitted the ‘castle’ exception but expressly told the jurors — in no uncertain terms — that self-defense is not available to defendant if she could have safely retreated or was the initial aggressor. That mistake easily could have permeated the jury’s consideration of self-defense, not only with respect to the murder count but also the lesser-included homicide offenses," the appeals court wrote in its decision released Wednesday. The appeals court vacated the murder conviction and ordered a new trial." https://www.nj.com/morris/2020/03/teacher-sentenced-to-30-years-for-killing-boyfriend-a-retired-cop-wins-new-trial.html
