  1. "slide or cause to slide into itself, so that it becomes smaller." Not a lawyer, but I think the "OR" is important here. The example in the first post could easily be concentric tubular parts that slide to become smaller.
  2. I agree with the sentiment but you have to remember we are talking about two different laws. They may be practically identical, but the court didn't review NJ's language. There's no reasonable way for this kind of ruling to negate "similar" laws elsewhere, other than being relevant in our favor the next time NJ is looked at.
  3. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/02/john-boch/proposed-executive-order-designating-rifles-militia-purposes/ So the national attention this is getting may generate an EO to protect ARs, perhaps even un-neutering NJ rifles until more permanent changes can be made.
  4. I agree that they definitely closed later than that. Not sure exactly when, but it was a few months ago that I noticed their Facebook page had been deleted. Definitely a friendly place but I think the writing was on the wall for some time.
  5. "The Justices have long had a seemingly contentious relationship with the Ninth Circuit, which covers most of the western United States and Hawaii and Alaska. Far more cases come to the Court from the Ninth Circuit than any other court, and — not surprisingly — Ninth Circuit rulings make up a sizeable portion of the docket of argued and decided cases – 75 cases, or 25.7% for the last four Terms including the current session. During that period, the Court has reversed or vacated and sent back 79.5% of the Ninth Circuit decisions it has reviewed." http://www.scotusblog.com/2014/06/scotus-for-law-students-sponsored-by-bloomberg-law-scoring-the-circuits/ Being that wrong so consistently should require a complete replacement of the entire 9th Circus.
  6. This has always been the case. Anyone who makes enough noise will quietly be issued a permit. This serves to both invalidate any legal claim that permits aren't being issued and also to dissuade them from continuing to invest their limited time and money battling an opponent with unlimited resources.
  7. I can't believe the experiences I read about on these forums. My FID/initial PPs "only" took about 3 months and I was frustrated enough that I don't feel like going through it again for more PPs.
  8. Proposing this bill can only strengthen the position of NJ gun owners. Of course we all want equal treatment and the restoration of the 2nd Amendment in NJ, but that's obviously not going to happen with one bill. His explanation for his motivations seems pretty valid.
  9. Another supposedly pro-gun member of this forum that wants to see fellow gun owners locked up and the key thrown away as an action plan for restoring gun rights in NJ. Very inspiring.
  10. It's really no wonder NJ is in such a sad state of affairs when you see how many here want to cannibalize their fellow gun owners. A supposed pro gun forum full of members crying that they can't carry so they support the draconian anti gun legislation when it's employed to destroy a man's life. What a pathetic viewpoint and misguided direction of anger.
  11. This is irrelevant, just because the law wouldn't immediately let non resident permits carry doesn't mean it wouldn't topple NJ. The 4th Amendment ensures equal protection under the law. If national reciprocity is a thing, you can't continue denying permits to residents while non-residents are free to carry here. This is the only reason why they can currently justify almost wholly denying permits...no one else is allowed to carry here either.
  12. There are at least two NJ supreme court cases that have ruled in this manner. A business owner is allowed to carry on the premises. Employees are not, and have been convicted for doing so. The courts were very clear that only a business owner is permitted, and they specifically did not want to give business owners the power to authorize employees to carry for any reason. I totally support the right of anyone to carry at their place of business, but I hope that no one does without a significant ownership stake. The police might not care day to day, but if a self defense scenario occurs my money would be on the non-owner being charged and convicted.
  13. $50 for a transfer now. Not great, but he's the only one in the area. The hours are still funky.
