  1. The bad thing about NJ is that there's too much ambiguity in the laws (intentionally I think) to make a positive statement that applies to all situations. Taken conservatively the most common understand I've seen communicated is that there are no issues in NJ if you're going from your home to an approved location like a hunting ground, range, a gun shop, or your business/property. Outside of that you're introducing the potential for varying interpretation when you encounter the police (and then subsequently prosecutors, etc). I've not seen any indication that having a valid permit in another state is an approved reason to have a gun with you in NJ. Yes, it's silly and ridiculous like many of the other NJ laws/rules, but it is what it is. I'm not an attorney or lawmaker of any kind, so feel free to read what's available and make your own decisions and act accordingly.
  2. This discussion reminded me of this video. Gun shop employee hands a cop a .38 semi-auto with a full magazine. Cop sweeps everyone in the store (and himself) multiple times looking/feeling the gun. He then proceeds to rack the slide and shoot himself with the "unloaded" gun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUonA66btgI
  3. If you can swing it you best bet is during the week in the morning. I took a trip out last year on a random Tuesday morning and got there when they opened. No lines and very quick in and out. They did ask for my NJ FID for my ammo purchase, but they just looked at it and didn't take any information down.
  4. Oh yes, I saw that. I guess i was just turned off by the article itself and wanted to make sure we had a direct link to the Remington response.
  5. Manager got off three shots at point blank range but the robber only sustained one wound to the wrist.
  6. Respectfully, I don't think that article is written very well. Here's a direct link to Remington's response (which I think is very well done): https://www.remington.com/news/2017/remington-responds-60-minutes
  7. Malls are private property, so their gun-free signs are real and can be "enforced" by mall management/security asking you to leave. If you don't leave they call the police and you can be charged with trespass.
  8. Responsible thing to do is to buy them all back. Unfortunately actuaries have probably crunched the numbers and determined that it's more cost-effective to deal with lawsuits as they come.
  9. I think it's newsworthy (to them) now because it's pretty clear that Trump is a pro-2nd amendment President, so CBS is looking to get on the anti-2nd amendment bandwagon before any legislation or court action happens. They can say "w've been reporting since XXXX about XXXX" and position themselves as the go-to source for quotes and sound bytes. As to your other point, I'm not so sure. I'm a pretty new shooter and I have a large caliber bolt gun on my short list. I had no idea how long the challenges with the Remington 700 have been going on. It has been on the short list for a while, but I just took it off. No reason to take a chance and be one of the unlucky ones.
  10. Once I started having kids I stopped getting angry about other drivers acting like idiots. Karma, the police, or a bigger road-rager will eventually catch up with the other guy.
  11. Wow. Thanks for sharing that! Can't imagine what his collections is valued at. Has to be in the millions.
  12. Enjoy the search! You'll have TONS of options.
  13. Thanks! All of the feedback is very much appreciated. The common theme here (not surprisingly) is Streamlight and Surefire, so i'll keep my search there. Thanks again!
  14. The Sub 2000 actually comes in Glock 19 and Glock 17 configurations, so a Glock 19 magazine will be too short for a Sub 2000 built with a G17 grip.
  15. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I've considered many different options and I've decided on adding a light to the gun.
  16. I think the small/private clubs in NJ have definitely been laying low for the last 8 years or so. Now that there's a bit of a change we may see them open the doors a bit, but I suspect the smaller clubs will never open up to broad membership.
  17. Any recommendations for a light to add to my (stock) gen4 Glock 17? I'm looking for something that's not bulky and won't break the bank. I don't need a red dot or anything fancy, just something that would light up a potential target. I've seen the Streamlight TLR-3 mentioned a lot: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001T7GZQQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=30TTVA1QW1UFD&coliid=IQ7H0BVFICO2L Does anyone have experience with that one or other lights under $100? Thanks!
  18. No worries. I spend about 99% of my life in-state, and my schedule is such that any "free time" I have (outside of work, chasing/transporting kids, wife, other family responsibilities, etc) is spent at the range, so a trip across state lines just to carry wouldn't be effective for me. But that's just me. I have an out of state carry permit for those rare occasions when on vacation/visiting a different state I can get in some range time and not have to worry so much about keeping a magazine stored separately from the gun (gasp)...in various layers of lock boxes...out of arm's reach of the driver...etc...etc
  19. Congratulations on the new gun. I'm going to have to check out some of those shows. I desperately need a Garand and an Enfield. Well, maybe I don't NEED them...
  20. You'd be surprised at what goes (and what doesn't). I had some broken Rubbermade cabinets by the curb and they were gone in 10 minutes...
  21. Seems like an awful lot of effort just to go out of your way to walk around with a concealed gun. Not sure of the risk/reward balance here.
