Malsua 1,422 Posted August 7, 2009 Robot Chicken is pretty funny. I own seasons 1 and 2. As to the movie you also wont see any American Symbolism. G.I. Joe doesn't stand for Gov't issue Joe. It stands for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity". After all, how can you please Euroweenies without taking a big sloppy dump all over Americans? Here's a quote from the LA times http://www.federalreview.com/2009/08/gi ... e-bush.htm LOS ANGELES--The director of the new movie "G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra" thinks President Obama is "a Real American hero," but apparently wants Republicans to stay home. According to the Los Angeles Times: When it comes to selling "G.I. Joe" outside the U.S., the message is "this is not a George Bush movie -- it's an Obama world," director Stephen Sommers said. "Right from the writing stage we said to ourselves, this can't be about beefy guys on steroids who all met each other in the Vietnam War, but an elite organization that's made up of the best of the best from around the world." Sommers, the director of such turds as "the Mummy Returns" and "VanHelsing," is hoping that the film will appeal to international markets, where action films "often earn 60% or more of their ticket sales [but] rah-rah American sentiment doesn't play well," the paper noted. As a result, overseas advertising is playing up scenes from other countries and downplaying anything that could be seen as American patriotism.
bbk 188 Posted August 7, 2009 Yea, I heard about the switch from being a story of the iconic American action figures to some world-wide charlie foxtrot. While it annoys me that they're destroying an American icon, I'll be interested to watch it to try and get the sour taste of the latest Transformers movie out of my mouth. Malsua 1,422 Posted August 7, 2009 Considering how many countries in this world hate us for various reasons can you really blame them? Sure, it's all about the buck anyway isn't it? It's not like the man has lived here all his life and used the American system and the American culture to enrich himself. I mean, shouldn't we all just find something uniquely American and drop a steaming chud on it if we can score some cash out of it?
