FN FS2000 in NJ?

Recommended Posts

Anybody have one of these? Can't see why it wouldn't be legal here, no pistol grip, static stock and a flash hider. I'm leaning towards one for the home and wanted to get some details from actual owners. From what I understand the trigger is ridiculously heavy (12lbs) and the plastic trigger group has had its issues. I want an excuse to put an Eotech on something.

my friend owns an FS2000, the gun is simply amazing!

the weight to it, the accuracy is unbelievable. there is little to no recoil with the gun. i plan on buying one

It also shoots a pretty light bullet...

Is it a rifle round or a pistol round.. or nobody knows?

I think your mistaking it for the PS90 which fire the 5.7 x 28mm. The FS2000 fires the .223

After much consideration I'm going to go for an AR. Just too many things you can do to them. For the money I can get something custom with a Noveske barrel and a gisselle trigger.

ya but you are so limited in NJ with it. id love an AR15 in nj but these laws are so freakin gay. i dont understand how a Colt AR15 is banned in this state, yet other companies are ok?

the fs2000 is a small gun but 100% legal bc of the barrel. the gas system is amazing, there is no brass going everywhere it just rolls out. there is no need for a pistol grip at all. it wont ever be considered an assault weapon. you can add rails to the front and attach a handle and laser. it is a great gun!

5.56 is a rifle round....

i assume, that you two assume that the fs2000 uses 5.7 ammo like its little brother the ps90. i would do a little more research, such as determining the caliber round it fires, before dropping the coin on one.

Not really that limited if you think about it. Yes the laws are arcane but they're passable for me (except the 15 round rule, absolutely despise that). I wouldn't want an SBR, it's just not my thing and I wouldn't want to lose the velocity that a 16" barrel affords with a 5.56. Yes the stock has to be pinned, which is fine for me. Find the right length, pin it, done. LOP on most stocks (especially the ones I'm looking at) is 3.5". Not that huge of a variance. Muzzle brake has to be pinned? Fine, I was going to get a PWS FSC556 which is both a flash hider and a comp anyway (most importantly considered a comp or "brake" by the government, documented). Not to mention, if I ever move, I can just get new furniture and sell the Jersey-specific stuff to someone here.

For the same money as the FS2000 I can get a more accurate, more reliable rifle that maintains parts compatibility with 90% of the black rifles in the country. And I can customize the snot out of it.

If you really want an AR, and you really want a certain setup, it can always be modified some to be made compliant in NJ. Ask Caine, he has a gorgeous Daniel Defense AR that was ADCO'd (feel free to step in).

You can always get any AR of your choosing, and find a gunsmith to permanently attach the compensator, cut off the bayo lug, permanently restrict the stock from moving, etc. It'll cost a bit more, and may require some finesse between you and your FFL and gunsmith, but it can be done if that's what you really want.

As for Colts, they do have NJ-legal Colts that I know for a fact are sold in NJ (I inquired, and received info from our great vendors here).

dont you feel as though you are "damaging" the gun by doing that? i feel as though im doing something so awful to the gun having all that modified like that. well i wouldnt want all these to be "permanent" in case, actually WHEN I MOVE OUT OF NJ lol.

with regards to those colts, what exactly makes them legal vs their old colts saying ar15?

like the Colt 6920 Law Enforcement 5.56 Complete Lower Receiver, is that not allowed in nj? i see the basic MT6400, but id rather the 6920 lower, then get the upper and stock on my own without the lug.

Only "damage" would be welding the comp to a nice Noveske barrel. Pinning the stock? Oh well, I can always attach another one. AR's are modular. Leave NJ and the cuffs come off.
