British Enfield Anyone?

Anyone have any experience with these? My buddy has had one for about 25 years in his closet and now he wants me to clean it up for him. (I guess he figures since I cleaned up my Mosin, I'm an expert now?) Anything special about these I should look out for? I know he said he is missing the sling rings and those are darn near impossible to find

if not, just find out what model it is and look at surplusrifle. They'll have directions for you.

As for a sling, search flea bay. Sometimes they have originals on there, its where i got the sling for one of mine. They will also have the sling rings, if not check numrich or sarco. An enfield is a great rifle and a hoot to shoot. Have fun, and try not to get addicted to them like mosins.

I have one John and it is a great rifle. I got the sling rings from Numrich.

Thanks guys, he bought the rifle from Sarco back in the day when we both were teaching up there and had students who worked there, cleaning cosmoline off of all the old guns. At the time they had no rings but I will tell him to check now and I will look at Numrich.

They are great rifles to shoot. The Brits could hit a pie plate at 200 yds. That was considered

a good hit at the enemy.

All the Enfields have that smooth opening action. All you have to do is open the bolt and it will come back at you right quick.

Enfields, as opposed to Mosins are VERY appealing to me for some reason. .303 seems a little scarce tho

Seems the Mosins are very simple when compared to the Enfield? There are so many steps to take it apart, with the Mosin a couple of screws and clips and it is apart. Going to be interesting for sure.

Easy to take apart but you need a special tool to remove the firing pin to completely take down the bolt.

The Mosin is easy....a bottle of Vodka and a 2 x 4... You can also use the 2 x 4 to

undo the bolt when it sticks.. .. The classic multi-purpose tool.

Not surprisingly, those are the 3 that interest me the most.
