British Enfield Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experience with these? My buddy has had one for about 25 years in his closet and now he wants me to clean it up for him. (I guess he figures since I cleaned up my Mosin, I'm an expert now?) Anything special about these I should look out for? I know he said he is missing the sling rings and those are darn near impossible to find :(

If it is a #4, this link will work for you.

if not, just find out what model it is and look at surplusrifle. They'll have directions for you.

As for a sling, search flea bay. Sometimes they have originals on there, its where i got the sling for one of mine. They will also have the sling rings, if not check numrich or sarco. An enfield is a great rifle and a hoot to shoot. Have fun, and try not to get addicted to them like mosins.

Thanks guys, he bought the rifle from Sarco back in the day when we both were teaching up there and had students who worked there, cleaning cosmoline off of all the old guns. At the time they had no rings but I will tell him to check now and I will look at Numrich.

And yes, usnmars, it is a #4

an old saying goes:

"The Germans built a hunting rifle(mauser), the Americans built a target rifle (03 Springfield), but the British built a battle rifle (enfield)".

owning all of them I would say this is true!

Not surprisingly, those are the 3 that interest me the most.

...and the Russians built a 2x4 that can shoot.

And I think that's why no matter how I hard I try, I just don't like them
