Jon 264 Posted March 16, 2010 I recently moved and now my DL does not match my FID and I plan on making some gun purchases in the next few months. When I went to my local PD to change the address on my FID I was told that "changing the address" is not possible and that I had to apply for a whole new card, including getting fingerprinted again, mental health records search, and paying all fees associated with a first time applicant. Is this the proper process or am I getting jerked around?

axeman_g 128 Posted March 16, 2010 Just did this... Moved in same town... one form... $18.00 for background as stated. New card within 45 days. Different town, different story. If you move to a different town they redo the entire thing.
mikeyboyeee 66 Posted March 16, 2010 I did not have to redo entire thing when I changed towns. No fingerprinting, just the $18.
coldsolderjoint 84 Posted March 16, 2010 I did not have to redo entire thing when I changed towns. No fingerprinting, just the $18. I moved from Old Bridge to Middletown and applied for 3 permits at the same time, they only charged the $18 background check fee plus the $6 for the permits.
