Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted April 26, 2010 Not sure how/if this will affect processing of FPID's here in NJ (not sure because I don't know if the fingerprint check is done solely by the NJSP, or if the prints are forwarded to the FBI - if the latter, this will definitely have an affect). The FBI is notifying all affected agencies that all Fingerprint based background checks will be temporarily suspended beginning April 28, 2010 - May 3, 2010. The FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) will be working with the U.S. Census Bureau to process more than 484,000 Fingerprints for Census Bureau workers. Just another brick in the wall. Adios, Pizza Bob
NJgunowner86 0 Posted April 26, 2010 NJ's Fingerprints are done with the SBI, a state agency, not the FBI. On a related note, our background checks do not contact NICS either, NJ runs its own background check system.

On a related note, our background checks do not contact NICS either, NJ runs its own background check system. They are done by both. When we did them with cards instead of using Livescan, there were 4 cards. FBI, NJSP, County, and Local. Now, when they are taken electronically they are transmitted to NJP, and then to FBI. This WILL affect anyone doign the initial process.

robot_hell 72 Posted April 28, 2010 Oh, excellent. I wonder how long this will be used as an excuse to add 2 months to the wait time for an FID.
