I shot this gobbler on Saturday at my in-laws up in PA and we had a Turkey dinner (well really a late lunch) on Sunday afternoon.

Wow! Nice bird there... how did it taste? is wild turkey close to regular store bought?

Thanks! I like it. The taste itself is pretty similar but the consistency is a bit tougher, but not too bad. This bird was a few years old and obviously spent more time on the run rather than just standing around waiting to get the ax. I shot my first Turkey last year and he was about the same size, maybe a little bit older and I found the meat was pretty much the same as this one. My mother in law thought that the dark meat was a little gamey, but I'm not a big fan of the dark meat anyway.

thanks for the info. been talking about a turkey hunt for next year, so i was wondering.. Shot a boar a week ago, and the meat is a little gamey compared to regular fattened up pork
